It was nearly midnight. Vanta knew that he was being overly worried and paranoid, but he was worried about Lambertia. He wanted to make sure that the other arrived back home safely. Admittedly, he wasn't entirely sure when Lamb would return, but he wanted to wait for her. Besides, he probably wouldn't be able to sleep alone anyways. The bed always felt too big with just him in it, and never felt quite right.

Sadly this evening’s entertainment had been far less robust in the stamina department than Lambertia had hoped they would. She found herself ambling back towards their apartment a few hours earlier than intended. She was going to have to take extra care to be quiet and not to wake Vanta up as she came through the door. That is if he had gone to sleep yet. Fumbling for the door key in a little storage pouch under her glove. Prising the door open slowly she smiled as she realised the lights were still on. He really was the sweetest.

The lights are somewhat dim in the house, and Vanta is getting together a bit of a midnight meal for Lambertia. Its honestly just a few simple things like eggs, but he figured that it would be better than nothing? Admittedly, he is just starting the process when Lambertia arrives at the apartment.
"Night go well?" He smiles over at her, trying to split his attention between the food and his friend. A startled gasp and the smell of something burning not too long afterwards can tell you how effective his efforts are.
"Well... there goes that idea."

“Hey, I was trying not to wake you.” Which there was clearly no need to worry about anymore. No need to walk on her tiptoes. Closing the door she leaned against it and pulled her shoes off and carried on barefoot. “Yea, those two were fun. Tired but fun.”
“This for me?” She approached the stove to take a quick look at what Vanta was ‘cooking’. It wasn’t going too badly actually. Just a few crispy bits. Nothing wrong with that. “That’s brilliant! I’m starving.” She reached over to the few spices they had and sprinkled a bit of the garlic & chilli mix over it then reached up to tussle Vantas hair in appreciation.
“I’ll go grab drinks and wait on the sofa?” She grabbed a bottle from the cabnit and brought it over to the sofa, collapsing into it. If the food turned out to be a bit toxic the bottles contents would probably kill it. |

Vanta's already fluffy and unruly hair somehow becomes even more so, gradually approaching the stage where it might gain sentience and try to take over Vanta's body. He wasn't too bothered by burnt food himself, but he wanted to make something nice for Lamber. Some bacon is added to the frying pan after the eggs are taken out, and the sound of sizzling soon fills the air.
"Make sure there's some water there! We also have those 'smoothie' things that we tried making a while ago?" He calls after Lambertia, working on finishing up their breakfast... dinner.... brinner. Perfect. Brinner.
He'll bring both plates in, one for him, and one for Lambertia. "Brinner is served my lady."

Already stretching out into a comfortable sprawl on their sofa Lambertia stuck her hand underneath in a searched around finding an old litre sized cola bottle there that she had filled with water and left there for just such an emergency. “Got some here!” She thought about the smoothies. They were nice but it sounded like Vanta was almost done and the bottle she’d gotten from the cupboard was mostly full. If she finished that she could go for the smoothies later. “I’m good for now!”
She experimentally opened the bottle and sniffed the amber liquid inside it, sweeter than she had expected, then took a sip of it while lifting her legs off the sofa to give Vanta space to sit. Then shed put them back down across his lap and take her plate from him.
“Thanks Vanta, you’re the best.” She passed him the water bottle and went for the bacon on her plate. |

Vanta tucks in besides her, searching around for the tv remote. "Anything you feel like watching in particular? Or maybe even nothing at all if you just want to eat and head to sleep?" While that wasn't likely, he still wanted to ask just in case.
Vanta takes a sip of the water, humming happily. Its so strange after spending the start of your life in a desert to just have water so freely available? "... I swear, water tastes different when you're at different places on Earth? I don't really know how to phrase that better." He offers the water to Lambertia, half wanting her to try it to see his point, and half wanting to make sure that she's properly hydrated.
"Apparently humans even have this canned water? I really don't know why they do that... It doesn't taste much different than normal sink water."

The crispy bits in the bacon were actually nice. Mostly because it was only a little around the edges. Eggs were overdone but she lapped it up quickly while it was still hot. Her stomach immediately thanking her.
“I dunno, what’s available? There was that Event Horizon thing? Might be interesting.” She took a swig form her bottle to wash down the food and hid her face for a moment. She had spotted the name in the ‘horror’ section a few days ago. Perhaps if he didn’t suspect, they might get far enough into it that he would try to see it through. They could turn the lights out and sit close enough so when the movie got tense, she was more available than a pillow for him to hide behind. She grinned. Then realised the water was being offered to her,
“Oh, I’m ok!” She held up the glass bottle, “You are right. Everything on earth is so regional but similar. We definitely picked the right planet.”
“Canned? I guess it’s easy to transport to places like their won desserts”

"Sounds like its a good idea to watch?" Vanta will turn that movie on, not really expecting what he will find.
"So... Judging by the date the movie was made... this was before Earth actually started regularly having contact with other planets? This'll be interesting." Apparently there was a recommended movie called 'Alien' right after this available? Maybe for later.
"Event Horizon.... That's a term used for black holes right? A point at which not even light can escape its pull? Wonder how its going to relate to this movie, or if its just a 'cool sounding word'... or... words in this case, that they thought would sound good as a title?"

"I'm glad you like it" she was fairly certain he was not going to enjoy this, even if he thought it was good. Maybe this was a bit mean of her even if he was delightfully adorable when scared. Shoveling the last of the food down her throat and washing it down again so she could set the plate aside and sit up.
"Didn't realise it was a classic, honestly i'm still not compleatly clear on earths calander without focusung on it." She shuffled accross the sofa so she could get comfirtablu next to him.
"Yea its a bit like that. The pull is so great that light spirals arround and arround untill it eventually crosses it. Nobody knows for sure whst happens after that." She pulled the bottle over and keaned her back against his side, legs draped over the far end. "Bit like us huh..."
"Earths a bjt more homey than a blackhoke though right" she jestured to the screen and took a quick discressionairy sip of the bottle again.
"So uh, lets see whats passed this horizon?"

"Honestly I just noticed because there is a remake available? I figured that watching the original might be fun?" Vanta smiles a bit sheepishly, and puts his food to the side.
"Earth months are weird, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of them? They seem to be based on moon cycles, but also not exactly? Vanta grabs a blanket from the side of the couch and tries to drape it over both of them. He also grabs one of the 'throw pillows' that came with the couch and tries to lift Lambertia's head slightly. He isn't forcing her to move, but he at least wants to offer something that's a tad more comfortable than his bony shoulder.
"... I wonder if its possible for an 'event horizon' to have an opposite? A point by which darkness can't escape something light." That felt like it described them far better than an event horizon. Darkness forever in the 'gravity' of light. Theoretically could 'escape' any time it wanted, but always choosing to stay.
The movie starts up, and Vanta already seems slightly on edge. He figured this would be a suspense/action film, but the atmosphere the movie was setting up was... creepy to say the least. "What's with the water tanks? I think Neptune is in the same system as Earth is, so it wouldn't be that big of a journey? Oh, right, made before actual space exploration so this is more just speculation..." Vanta seems to be trying to keep up a running commentary to distract himself from how tense the atmosphere was making him. He was shivering a bit though.

"Who are we to judge, we just divided it up with math." It was actually a little suprising that there was a month of darkess at all to Lambertia.She shifted arround so Vanta could tuck the blanket in ang get them cozy but when jt came to the pillow she oulled it down infront of her and hugged it. "You might need this later, dont want you to feel bad for taking it. This is plenty comfy" he was warmer agaibs her back than the cushion.
As the movie started she thought about hes musing on Event Horizons, not sure uf he was really looking for an oposite or an alternative.
"According to that astronomer boy a few weeks ago Neptune is one of the furthest planets in Sol." He had been fun to spend time with, a dreamy romatic. Maybe a bit too dreamy. It had taken several hors under the stars before he'd gotten the hint to cone down to earth for a bit...
It was clear from quite early that the movie was way more tense than she had expected. Reaching for her bottle she togged Vantas arm up and arround her 'accidentally' brushing the pillow iver to his free arm at the side of the sofa. "I like how these people are like a weird family."

That's... actually a good question. If Darkness wasn't originally a part of the Elfen elements, then why was there a Month of Darkness? Was it originally for the Fae? "Its nice? They almost seem like a little tribe, but mainly by assignment instead of by birth?" He was enjoying their dynamic so far.
Vanta took the pillow from Labertia, planning to just put it back where he found it, but then... He wasn't expecting an eyeless woman. He shrieked slightly, grabbing onto the pillow tightly, and jumping more than a little bit.
"... This is one of those 'horror movies', isn't it? Prob-Laaaaaaaaaaamb," That was a nickname he tended to break out when he was lightly annoyed, but still joking around. He huffs slightly, moving the pillow so he was hugging it.

His shreik was adorable and she had to glance away to hide her smirk as he jumped and hud behind the pillow. Lambertia cluched hus arm and held back a giggle.
"Well if its too scary, i'll just ear your arm for snacks instead of leaving you alone with it"
She slipped her free hand from arround his arm into his and gave it a squeese takung another sip from the amber beverage.
Maybe she should have asked someone about the movie first. Or read more thsn its search tags.

"Well now I'm scared to get attached to any of these characters. I've heard stories of what humans call 'Game of Thrones'!" Well its good to know that he was still the emergency rations. He takes one of the remaining strips of bacon from his plate and holds it in front of Lambertia's face.
"Spare me oh mighty mistress? Accept my humble offering of fatty meat instead?" There was a joking tone to his voice, and he was fighting to keep a smirk off of his face.
Though... When they got to what the ship was powered by, Vanta scrunched his nose slightly. "Well... I can tell that this part of the movie might not have aged well? Ah... Suspension of disbelief for enjoying the movie?"
