Salamanders
Home world: Lemuria
Average Height: 7-8 Feet (213-244 Centimeters)
Culture: Republic
Description:
Cold, Calculating, Smart. The Salamanders are a race who value intelligence and wisdom in the same way Saiyans value strength and pride. Salamanders process emotions in a way that is entirely alien to other races. To a human being, the way a Salamander expresses themselves would seem robotic. However, they are capable of learning emotions the same way other races express them by spending enough time around outsiders. A Salamander that has spent years among other races will seem like a completely different species compared to a sheltered Lemurian Salamander.
Visually Salamanders share many traits with other lizards. They have tails, horns, and layers of strong scales in various parts of their body. Their horns come in many different shapes and sizes, and their tails tend to be much thicker and tougher than a Saiyan's tail. Outsiders have compared them to dragons, though they are distinctly different from the mythical creatures. Their skin colors are greatly variable; Some have human skin tones while others carry an ashy gray tone that is quite distinct to their people and perhaps the most common color of skin you will find among them. Their life spans are naturally capable of reaching upwards of 3,000 years; both because of their natural physiology, and the thick atmosphere of Lemuria.
Their culture is a strange mixture of modern science and classical mythology. "Religion" and scientific pursuits naturally go hand-in-hand for a salamander due to their long history and oral traditions passed down from a time before historical records were kept. Among these traditions is a massive beam of light extending up to just above the planet's atmosphere. A light they deem "The knowledge giver Yggdrasil". Those who are devout treat this beam of light as their religious symbol.
Salamander tradition tells of a past leader from the dark age who foresaw a paradise beyond the stars, a legendary world they have named "Breidablik". Some Salamanders spend their entire lives researching this mythical paradise world, a smaller number among these even heading out into space to try and find it themselves. Though a Salamander rarely expresses pride in the same way other races do, none among them can deny the pride and glory finding Breidablik would bring them.
Racials:
Academic Application:
Salamanders are naturally well-versed in the fields of science and academia. With this in mind, it's a natural consequence that they can use those book smarts of theirs to research the best ways to further advance their training. Whenever those with this racial earn 5 points of EXP in an ability or transformation, they will automatically be granted 3 points in that ability or transformation for free.

Steel Scales:
Those of the Salamander race possess scales across their body that are as tough as some armors that other races would normally be forced to equip for their own protection. However, some Salamanders have harder scales than most. Those with this racial have such hard scales that the strongest of punches hit just a little less hard. Steel Scales reduces the damage of all physical attacks by 15%

Martial Bulwark:
Thanks to a combination of high intelligence and natural defense, some Salamanders are capable of combining the two genetic feats into one to provide an even greater defense against would-be attackers. With this racial, tier 1 blocking uses 10% of your power level instead of 5%!

Thousand Year Dedication:
In Salamander culture it is almost second nature for those among them to dedicate a thousand years or more of their life towards one singular goal, often in the pursuit of scientific or academic progress. Those with this racial are no different, as they have chosen to dedicate their life towards the pursuit of martial arts mastery. With this racial you may choose ONE ability type at character creation to be your character's dedication choice; The ability type picked at creation will permanently earn double EXP! However, "Transformations" cannot be chosen as a type.
[Does not stack with other EXP multiplying bonuses]

Transformations:
Rune Form:
Rune Form involves a Salamander invoking an ancient script from their dark age in order to empower their body and spirit. While under this form the user is surrounded by glowing ancient glyphs floating and orbiting them mere inches from their body, these runes super charge the user to their very core, but are sadly temporary. However, it is not enough to simply recite the ancient script, one must first have the power to maintain such energies. It will never manifest for someone who isn't strong enough to keep that much power without falling apart at the seams.

Muspell:
The first true evolution a Salamander goes through as their dna and physical makeup change to become much stronger than ever before. In this state their scales turn a glittering golden color and become much harder than in their base state. Unlike the transformations most other races are subject to, this is a permanent change to their entire body that has no "off switch". It may be less potent than a traditional transformation, but it is no less brimming with potential. Muspell is but the first step in a Salamander's evolutionary chain.

Verdenheim:
The second stage evolution for a Salamander, and a massive spike in power. Once in this form their scales change from a simple golden to a white gold that shimmers when it reflects light, their tails become slightly tougher, and their horns take on the same white gold coloration of their scales. At this stage of evolution Salamanders are quite naturally durable, one would be hard-pressed to pierce their hardened scales, even in one's own transformed state. It typically takes centuries for any Salamander to reach this stage of evolution, setting aside the years of hard work one must put in to withstand the flow of energy.

Tyrfing:
The third stage of Salamander evolution, in this stage the white gold coloration remains, however instead of a color change, the Salamander's horns grow longer and sharper, and their tail gains a few spikes of it's own, boosting one's physical defense in perhaps the most literal way possible. Beyond this however, their energy spikes up to incredible levels, and their aura takes on a distinct gold coloration. A Salamander that has reached the Tyrfing evolution is nothing to underestimate. On display is something that would typically take two thousand years of dedication to achieve.

Volsung:
The fourth and seemingly final stage of evolution in a Salamander's life cycle, Volsung should be the peak of power, and yet unlike all evolutions before it, this one is temporary, just like the transformations of other races. It is NOT held indefinitely... What's more, the user's aura turns pale white, their scales turn black, and their power only increases by a minuscule amount. None in recorded history have ever reached this stage of evolution. This is the cursed form "Volsung". A state of evolution only spoken about from eras predating recorded history... Many believe it to be impossible to reach in one's lifetime. It truly is cursed in every sense of the word.

Valensung:
The true final stage of evolution. The very summit of a Salamander's lifecycle of power and metamorphosis. In this stage of evolution the previously pale white aura changes to one that seemingly radiates in a rainbow of colors, their pure black scales become iridescent, changing colors depending on the light reflecting from them. Their once temporary addition of power is boosted far higher, and finally becomes a permanent increase once more, cementing the end of their evolutionary chain. This is Valensung, the radiant form. It is an evolution not even spoken of in legend, something believed non-existent. The perfect final form.
