[Thread PL: 60] West City had proven to be quite the interesting place to stay in. For one thing, she met Asmoskon and Kosho there. Two strong fighters that gave her a battle to be remembered for some time... But she also wouldn't ever let them forget just how well she fought against them despite her apparent disadvantage either. For a moment, Atsuko mused on the prospect of fighting Kosho again. Sparring with him would probably be a good way to get stronger.
Increasing her strength was definitely going to be a welcome addition. Considering she was cleaning up the streets right now. The Knight kept jumping into the fray as emboldened criminals ran rampant across West City. Each one gave the same vague threat after they were kicked into line and custody. Always "The boss will take care of you". Out of curiosity, she decided to ask who they were referring to.
And again, the answer was practically the same each time. Always a scoff as they then remarked about "that white haired guy from the rumors"... Yeah. The same ones that led her here. Whether he was calling the shots or not, he had made it so these guys feared nothing. Because "might makes right", and they were stronger than anyone else in the city. And if someone strong enough to fight them comes along, well, the usual logic dictates that he would come to fight them.
Atsuko smirked to herself at that thought. What would they think if they already knew that Atsuko fought him? Gave him a real run for his money, too... All while being weaker than he was. New rumors began to spread pretty fast around West City. About the Knight that would show up to beat the low-life thugs into the dirt. Most people were thankful for that kind of fighter on their side, and she projected a real sense of power with that get-up... At least, if you asked any of them their thoughts on this whole ordeal.
For the moment, things had settled down in West City. Atsuko was trying to find a place to stay. And a lot of grateful people were looking to hand out rewards because of her timely interventions -- even trying to recruit her for security purposes. It all told her that there was a presence needed to deal with all this nonsense. All the better that she was here looking to settle down, then... She stuck out like a sore thumb too, for anyone that wanted to approach and talk to her. Especially thanks to some media coverage at some of these encounters. Tomina

[Thread PL: 90] "Heh... how sweet home! Nothing like staying like home! heh heh... shit, this is the worst." Tomina sighed to herself, rolling around on the floor. She was in the burned-out shell of what used to be the orphanage she grew up in. They had managed to put the fire out before the entire structure had fallen down, and apparently the city was in a debate over what to do with the land. It was cold outside and it was the only place that Tomina could find for shelter. Just her luck: she had to stay in the very place she had run away from. Tomina shivered, grunting as she tried to make herself comfortable on the hard floor. She slid up to make herself more comfortable, leaning her back against a wall in a corner of the foyer. She closed her eyes, trying to sleep amid the charred rubble over the ground. She was tired of wandering from place to place. But she also didn't want to resort to going into the underground to make meets end. She was confident she could survive there if she tried: she hadn't met anyone who she hadn't been able to beat into submission. But that way of living was less appealing than this. So she endured it, trying her best to survive in a harsh situation.

While Atsuko spent her time acclimating herself to West City, she eventually finds the wreckage of the old orphanage. Just from looking it over, it was pretty clear what happened; fire caused severe damage to the building. It was a bit of a miracle that it was even still standing in this state. Normally, she would have just left it well enough alone, but she sensed a power inside. A rather strong one, too... Even stronger than Kosho and Asmoskon were. Cautiously, the Knight enters to investigate.
It doesn't take her too long to navigate the long-abandoned building, though the Knight is careful where she steps. The floor wasn't exactly in the best of conditions. But it seemed to be holding, at least... Finally, she finds the room that Tomina is staying inside of. What she found was not some dangerous threat, but someone that seemed to be particularly down on her luck.
The Saiyan thinks over how to approach this situation." Do you need any help? I can find you a place to stay, or teach you how to set up a camp." The armored woman would calmly hold her hands up, showing that she didn't intend any harm to the unlucky individual. Besides, if it came to a fight, Tomina would probably win it..." At least a night spent with a campfire would be better than this, right?" Atsuko then falls silent, allowing the other person the opportunity to absorb everything that just happened. Tomina

Tomina looked up when she heard the old doors open. She stared at the figure who walked in with visible confusion. She rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing things correctly. Yep, that was a knight walking towards her. The boots boomed across the old wooden floor. This person seemed weaker than her, but she clearly knew her way around a fight. But apparently that wasn't what she had in mind. She then asked her if she needed help setting up a camp. Tomina paused, and then she laughed lowly.
"Well, you would have been useful when I first started traveling around. I've already figured out how to camp. Although if you took me with you to live in your castle, that would be nice. Although a campfire is good enough if you can't let a filthy commoner like me in your home."
Tomina grinned, making a jab at the other person's choice of clothing. She didn't mean any harm by it, although some people took her teasing the wrong way. She couldn't resist in this case: this person's clothing literally was a suit of armor.

It looked like Tomina had a sense of humor at least. Atsuko couldn't be too mad about it; she really did look like a Knight brought straight out of the medieval era... Regardless, it seems that it was understood that there was no ill intent meant, so she lowers her hands back to their natural resting length at her sides. " No castle, unfortunately. I don't serve a King, nor am I one." Although she technically worked for a Supreme Kai... Hmm, if she asked, Rumia might be able to make a house. But, would that be asking too much of her? Sure, it was just a structure. But she was also a God of Creation... " I've gotten a pretty good reputation around West City, I could probably negotiate lodgings for you. Failing that, I could probably build a shelter for you. Won't be anything too fancy. But it would be a more permanent residence than this." She certainly couldn't promise the most modern conveniences... But it would be a sturdy shelter that offered protection from the elements." Bit of a far cry from the castle you were expecting, I know." , Atsuko admits, seeming to be able to take the jests in stride. Tomina

"Well shit. And here I thought I'd freeload off an eccentric rich girl. Well you're chivalrous, I'll give you that."
This was strange. This person was being nice to her. And it seemed like she was going to a lot of trouble for her. If she was up to anything nefarious she could deal with it though. Tomina climbed to her feet, brushing herself off.
"I don't want to stay somewhere with a lot of people. If you're willing to make the structure fireproof I'd be interested. Otherwise, it will end up like this place."
Tomina gestured around the room, pointing out the charred wood around them. Tomina slipped her hand into her pockets, her red eyes staring at the knight.
"Normally I'd tell you to fuck off. But that armor isn't just for show. You're strong, I can tell. You won't die if worst comes to worst. Alright, lets go back to your camp. It's been awhile since I've had a conversation with someone."

When Tomina mentioned that she might be able to freeload off of an eccentric rich girl, it prompted a chuckle out of Atsuko. " No such luck, I'm afraid. I can provide a lot of things, but I am not a wealthy woman." Fortunately, the conversation had been nothing but pleasant so far. Sure, a few playful jabs here and there. But compared to someone like Asmoskon? She might have well have been speaking to a prim and proper lady right now. Atsuko keeps that thought to herself, though. Something tells her that Tomina might not appreciate the idea of wearing ball gowns and practicing posture and annunciation..." Fair enough. We'll head to my campsite then. Someone might as well make use of it. It's not too far from West City." , the Knight then responds. She chose a nearby location so that she could watch over the city. This was before she realized that she would basically have people lining up to pay her back for all the help she's doing with getting those criminals back into line.
Still... Make it fireproof, or it'd end up like this place, huh? There might have been more to that story, but Atsuko chose not to ask about it for now. Best to keep things rolling smoothly for now. What Tomina had to say next was rather interesting, though." You can sense energy, then? That's impressive. It's how I found you." , the Saiyan responds in a calm tone of voice. " You're a lot stronger than anyone else in the city, in fact." From the way she had worded that, it was pretty clear that Atsuko had even intended to say 'stronger than me', without directly saying it." Have you had any formal training, by chance?" , Atsuko queries, deciding that this might make for a good topic as they headed towards her campsite. The Knight was taking the lead on that, matching to whatever pace that Tomina was comfortable with. Tomina

"Is that so? Then I guess I shouldn't ask where you got that expensive-looking armor from. If you don't ask, then you can't tell. Sometimes it's better that way."
Tomina shrugged, following Atsuko out from the orphanage. She wasn't surprised that this person tracked her down like that. What was more surprising was the fact that she was having this conversation to begin with.
"I've always been able to "sense energy" as you put it. I can just tell how strong people are around me. Most people who can also sense energy tend to turn the other way. Are you hiding your true power? Or do you just believe in the best of people? I haven't ever met anyone with as much energy as me."
Tomina said, a slight smirk on her face. She was proud of her power. It was about the only thing she had to her name. Other than her own clothes and her hat. Tomina was setting a pretty brisk pace. She seemed to want to go faster, but she had to follow Atsuko. So she was brimming with energy as she forced herself to follow Atsuko.
"Train? I've never had anyone to teach me. Not in fighting anyway. I know some basic things, but I've focused more on survival than I have fighting. I've never come across anyone who I can't handle."
Tomina even got into fights on purpose sometimes. Or at the very least didn't shy away from heated situations. It felt good to vent her anger by beating the shit out of someone who was annoying her. Not that she was going to tell the knight that.

Atsuko smiled lightly as Tomina brought up a fair point. If she wasn't wealthy, then it stood to reason that her having that expensive armor didn't really add up. " It was a gift from my family. It's a genuine heirloom." , the Saiyan explains. " No offense taken, by the way. I consider it a mark of honor that I get to wear it." That being said, it appears that Tomina was some kind of prodigy, being able to sense Ki, but not knowing the terminology. " I give everyone a chance to prove themselves. Some don't do a very good job, though." , she responds. " You didn't really look like the kind of person that was interested in causing trouble, though." She pauses for a moment as Tomina remarks that she had never met anyone with as much energy as she had. That certainly seemed to follow, no one on Earth was really all that strong... " I can see why. You have a lot of potential. With proper training, you could probably become something amazing." In terms of experience, Atsuko had a bit more... But in raw strength, Tomina had the edge. In a fight, Technique could only help so much when faced with overwhelming odds. But it was certainly true that Tomina had a lot to learn, especially as she then admits that she hasn't had any formal training before." That makes sense. Well, it's your decision, but if you want to learn more about how to survive and fight, I would be happy to offer guidance." Since Tomina was wanting to pick up the pace, Atsuko matched that. Although when it came to how fast the two were... The Knight wasn't quite as fast as she was. It all related to the difference in their power levels. But it should hopefully be enough to suit Tomina's tastes. Tomina

Tomina raised an eyebrow, looking at Atsuko skeptically. "So you aren't from a wealthy family and inherited a suit of armor? That shit looks expensive. Did your parents spend their entire savings on that piece or something? Course I can't really judge someone for wearing something their parents left them. I guess I consider wearing this hat an honor too. Doesn't exactly convey that as well as your armor though."
Tomina tapped the hat on her head a couple of times. It was the only thing she had from her parents. She still didn't quite know how to feel about them. On the one hand, she was pissed that she had been abandoned. But going by the note, it seemed like they were forced to. She hoped it was some life or death scenario and that they cared about her. But knowing her luck they were probably a teen couple who didn't want to take on the responsibility of having a kid. Tomina chuckled at Atsuko's statement, slipping her hands into her pockets.
"You didn't know what kind of person I was when you first sensed me. Hell you still don't even know my name. For all you know I could be the real criminal mastermind who rules West City."
Tomina's face got a tinge of pink when Atsuko commented at her. She used to that kind of thing. Aside for maybe one or two guys hitting on her, no one ever threw a compliment at her. She honestly didn't know how to handle it. She reached up with one hand, scratching her cheek and grinning.
"So you can already tell how scary I can be. Are you trying to convince me to study under you? Cause it's working. If you can get me consistent shelter and food, I'll follow you to the ends of the Earth and sign the fuck up for whatever training regiments you go through."

Atsuko calmly looks back to Tomina as she questions the validity of the explanation. " Nothing so haphazard as that. I was raised in a Monastery, and it was a gift from my adoptive mother. It was a personally crafted family heirloom." , the Saiyan elaborates. Although it was hard to gauge her since she was wearing that helmet, it didn't sound like she was offended.
She did however take notice of the hat that Tomina was talking about. Yeah, it did seem pretty special. Certainly wasn't a normal hat from what she could tell. " It's always good to remember our roots. I'm glad you share the same opinion." , she then returns her focus to the path ahead.
As Tomina jokes about being a criminal mastermind that rules West City... That irony was just too palpable. She calmly turns to Tomina once more. " Would you believe I fought him earlier? Or at least the rumored criminal mastermind. I even know his name." After that exchange, Tomina then brings up that she'd be happy to sign up for whatever training regiment was being offered so long as she had consistent shelter and food. That made sense. It's what everyone needed most when you got right down to the core of things." I can do even better than that. I can teach you how to build your own shelter, and hunt for your own food and prepare it. It'll hone the basics in the process, too." While Atsuko wasn't any sort of Martial Arts Master, the usual logic rang true. You work hard, you get a strong body. It would all fit in nicely with the actual lessons she had to share in regards to Ki, and combat training. Although... It was strange to think that her first pupil might be stronger than her.
Then again, maybe stranger things have happened before? After musing on that, they had arrived at the campsite, it was set atop a cliff that overlooked West City with quite the view. It wasn't anything overly remarkable at first, but there was a campfire, seating areas in the form of situated logs, and then a tent." Won't be much to start with. But two people working together can turn this into something a lot nicer." Tomina

Tomina blinked. Did she just hear that right? This person grew up in a monastery? "Wait, your parents didn't even drop you off in a proper Orphanage? They literally left you with a bunch of monks? And why would they leave that armor behind? Are you sure you're not from some well off family? Then again I could be too for all I know. Kinda tough to look back on your roots when you aren't even sure where they were planted."
This person was very mysterious. Tomina had been trying to figure her out ever since she walked in the door. But other than seeming to be a genuinely nice person, this knight was a complete enigma. She didn't have a normal childhood, that was for sure. Another similarity the knight had in common with her.
Tomina blinked, looking at the knight in surprise. Then a grin spread across her face. “You beat me to him eh? He must have been jack shit if you came out of it no worse for the wear. I don’t see a scratch on your armor. So, what’s the guy’s name? And speaking of names, I can’t believe we’ve talked this long and not given each other our names.”
Tomina listened as the other girl explained what she could do for her. This person seemed to have a level head. Which was good. It looked like she was going to have a traveling companion from now on. Hopefully, this person was as strong as she thought she was. She didn’t want to end up hurting her like she had others. Tomina looked around the camp when they got there, folding her arms as she looked around.
“I have heard of building from the ground up. Just don’t get too ambitious and try to turn this into another monastery, okay?” The hybrid chuckled, walking over to one of the logs and sitting on it. Her red eyes watched the other girl.
“I’m Tomina. It’s nice to meet ya, my knight in shining armor.”

The subject of Atsuko's parents was always a bit of a heavy one, considering everything that Micaela told her. It was a complicated history that was difficult to explain in a concise manner. But they had some privacy here now. The Saiyan takes the opportunity to sit down and look to Tomina. " They sent me to Earth when I was still a baby. They used to be part of an order called the Knights of Yama." She pauses for a moment. " Don't know if you've heard of them before, but they're a longstanding order that kept peace through the Universe. Until someone started assassinating them. I was too young at the time, so I had to be sent to Earth." , she then admits. " I was left in the care of Micaela, a friend of theirs. She took me to the Monastery. From there I was raised to follow the legacy of my parents. Hence the armor." That would explain why she doesn't have much of anything to her name, other than the armor she took pride in. After that, the conversation turns to that so-called "King of West City", it prompts Atsuko to smirk. " He was a tough fight. But ultimately his lack of skill showed. He barely grasped the concepts of Ki, couldn't even sense energy. His sloppy technique is what let me secure a win against him. He thought he could finish me off in one fell swoop. He was wrong." After having said that, she then taps the helmet with one of her hands. " As for the armor, it has some of enchantment. Repairs itself over time. I still spend time taking care of it, though. As for my own recovery, well... I've always been good at fast recoveries." Tomina then asks what the guy's name was. Fair question. " His name is Asmoskon. Real hard to miss him. Pure white hair, always has some kind of manic grin or stare. Lots of muscles. Loves to fight." With that information given, Tomina then properly introduces herself. Atsuko decides to return the favor." I'm Atsuko Inoue. As for my plans for this area, it can be as fancy or simplistic as you want. Although... More complicated we go, the longer it's gonna take to perfect." , Atsuko then states." I can also show you how to make some money. Then we can look into getting some Capsule Houses. After that, building a place to stay is a thing of the past. Just press a button and throw it." She mimics the gesture of throwing an object." Poof. Just like that. Instant house. But the survival skills are always helpful. Never know what kind of situation you might find yourself in." Tomina

Tomina crossed her legs and did something she normally didn't do: shut up and listen to someone. Although with the tale the other girl spung, it was hard not to interject. After all, it was essentially a captivating fairy tail. Tomina reached up, scratching the back of her head when the other girl finished.
"Holy shit. I think I'm glad I don't know anything about my parents. I have enough to deal with without having to worry about whether or not someone is constantly looking to kill me. Knowing my luck they were in debt 5o a mob boss or something. I dunno."
Tomina shrugged her shoulders. If her own background wasn't strange and this person wasn't offering her shelter, she'd call bullshit on all of that. She listened as Atsuko recounted her tale against the crime lord of West City. She snorted at the name.
"Asmo huh? He just sounds like another self important thug trying to make a name for himself. Doesn't seem like the type who can run a crime syndicate effectively. It's not the muscle heads who call the shots in the underworld."
Tomina smirked, her red eyes seemingly glinting as she leaned forward. "As I want huh? Surely you must have your own ideas for developing this place, Atsuko. Are you sure it's a good idea, leaving that kinda thing up to me? I know Jack shit about setting up housing. Although I do know the basics of survival. More than you think too. I've been on the streets for four years. Although learning new ways to make money would be appreciated. I don't like stealing crap just to eat."

Atsuko smiled at Tomina's assessment. Yeah, it would be pretty concerning to have the threat of someone being out to kill you... But that was one of her strongest advantages. " Keep this part under wraps. But no one knows my identity. Even the name I use right now is the one my adoptive mother gave me. I wear the armor so I can get the drop on them too. I'm the Knight they can't possibly account for." Why was she bothering to share that information with Tomina? Well, she was trying to follow Rumia's advice and open up to people. Make friends and allies. It wasn't bad advice, especially knowing how strong her enemies had to have been. Whether Atsuko wanted to swallow her pride or not, she had to admit that she couldn't handle this alone... Even if she would certainly go down swinging and trying.
But not letting it come to that was definitely preferable. She mused on that before Tomina then snorted at the name of the "crimelord". " Yeah... Doesn't strike me as the type that got up there because he planned it out or worked for it. Even the way he fought was just brute strength. I think he took over by force and ruled by fear. That'd be fine, but he extended that fear to the rest of the city." The Saiyan replies. Still. She hadn't heard anything about Asmoskon for a bit. He must have gone pretty deep into hiding after what happened. Or maybe he just stopped being a nuisance to the city. Whatever the case was... Tomina then expressed her curiosity over being given the choice of how she wanted to develop all this." Well. You mentioned that you want something fire-proof. That means we're going to be doing a lot of stonework. Normally any other material like lumber, clay, and leaves would work to make a quick hut. But we're making something a little more resistant to the elements." Atsuko explains calmly." I'll be showing you how to do all of that. You'll be helping me at the same time. Best way to learn is by doing." She pauses for a moment, thinking it over. " As for making money. It won't be getting you rich overnight. But hunting in the wilds can get you a lot of food.
