Strengths:
Intelligent: Due to their unique design and absorption mechanisms, Balotsi has high levels of intelligence, and a nearly unparalleled ability to analyze both situations and people. If the resources and proper equipment were available, Balotsi would be able to alter their own DNA or create additional Bio-Androids. This does lead to some arrogance that can cause them to dismiss other people's ideas merely because the ideas aren't their own.
Charismatic: Balotsi is a skilled manipulator and cunning linguist. They know how people tic, and can change how they present themselves accordingly to what would help them achieve their own goals. Balotsi can even use an understanding of a person to try to predict what they may do in the future, both in combat and in day to day life. The changing personality of the bio-android is offputting to some though, and a person who values candor above all else may find themselves butting heads with Balotsi.
Optimistic: Optimistic might be a bit too weak of a term to describe Balotsi. It will go right. It has to go right. One could describe it as determination, or one could see it as extreme desperation. Either which way, Balotsi rarely gives up if ever, and will always bounce back from a setback. This may lead them to continue to pursue an option even if it is clear to everyone else that there is no way it could work.
Works well under Pressure: High expectations and countless people watching are conditions Balotsi thrives under. After all, the people are here for a show, so why not give them one. Knowing that even one person is watching will push Balotsi to fight harder and keep standing back up. However, the dedication to 'the crowd' can sometimes be a distraction in battle. In addition, if there is no pressure to do something, Balotsi will often put it off as long as they can.
Weaknesses:
People Pleaser: To say that Balotsi is a people pleaser would be an understatement. Balotsi needs attention like a fire needs oxygen. This need makes them extremely irritable when ignored, and liable to be to manipulated once someone realizes this. If enough people push for a certain decision, Balotsi will choose it even if they personally disagree with the choice. This does mean that they're somewhat easy to work with and agreeable. Though, people who mistakenly believe that they are easy to manipulate may end up being manipulated themselves.
Prideful: As the peak of biological engineering, Balotsi has a completely unbiased assessment of their own skills and know they are absolutely flawless. In complete honesty, Balotsi is very prideful when it comes to their abilities. While they don't mind being laughed at as part of a performance, Balotsi will not tolerate written off as incompetent or even 'a nuisance'. They are the star and will be treated as such! This somewhat inflated sense of self could also lead them to tackle what would otherwise be impossible odds with no hesitation.
Emotionally Volatile: Extreme empathy, a human heart, a fae's capriciousness, and a saiyan's rage are a volatile combination at the best of times. Add in a tendency to hide what one truly feels for the sake of appearing fine to others... it becomes dangerous. In events that seem set off by 'nothing', Balotsi will sometimes 'explode' in wild displays of emotion. In states of rage or sorrow, Balotsi is liable to attack others and resort to extremes simply to be noticed. This tendency can catch people off guard though, a fact Balotsi is more than happy to use.
Surprisingly Firm Morals: There are lines that Balotsi refuses to cross, no matter how advantageous it would be to do so. While they crave attention and praise, they will refuse to force someone to be dependent on them through social, mental, and emotional manipulation. While Balotsi knows how to 'break' a person theoretically, their extreme empathy would prevent them from ever doing so. Even when faced with a vulnerable 'opponent', they would rather help build a person back up 'for a thrilling sequel'. This odd sense of morality may endear them to both enemies and allies however.
Vices: Attention from others.
Balotsi is an interesting individual to say the least. What they value most from others is attention from others, be it positive or negative. Anything else is almost inconsequential to them. Balotsi tends to be showy and boisterous, creating a spectacle no one would dare look away from. While they seem to wear their heart on their sleeve, Balotsi will hide away any emotions that may be 'unappealing' to an audience, and exaggerate the others. They constantly change their own personality to where Balotsi themselves don't know their 'true personality' for the most part. While Balotsi may seem to trust easily, they constantly worry that their 'true' self is unappealing, and if anyone knew what they were truly like, they would leave in a heartbeat. So Balotsi constantly puts up the facade of being someone 'better' than who they are right now. They are the type of person who would do anything to have a person's attention, even be their worst nightmare.
Balotsi is naturally in tune with how others feel due to extreme empathy, sensitivity to pheromones, and many other factors. The notable exception is that they process the fear of others as something pleasant. Hopelessness, apathy, and extreme loss are emotions that can cause Balotsi to feel physically ill, so they tend to avoid causing those whenever possible. But fear from others is almost as good as their attention sometimes. Almost. In addition, relief, joy, and gratefulness serve as sweet and treasured treats, even if not directed at them.
When the absolute need arises, Balotsi can be serious. They would just rather have fun with life and enjoy it as much as possible. Balotsi genuinely loves life the feeling of being connected with others. Part of why they choose to act as the 'villain' at times is to help others in ways a 'hero' would never be able to. If you asked Balotsi directly, they would claim that their reasons for doing so are simply for others undivided attention, and are entirely selfish. Absolutely everything they do is for their own sake, even 'selfless' acts. This excuse is much less true than they would lead you to believe
Appearance:
Balotsi's appearance changes often to suit their whims, who they're with, a preconceived notion of them, and any other countless reasons. Even the clothes that they wear are a part of their disguise abilities, and can change in a moment's notice. The same is true with what gender they present to others, and is generally unconcerned with how people refer to them. In terms of what they seem like most often, there are generally three different appearances they often take: a general female appearance, a general male appearance, and their rarely used 'true form'.
Female form
Height: 6'1
Weight: 160 pounds
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Face Claim Name: Nemuri Kayama
Face Claim Origin: My Hero Academia
This form is the most commonly used of all of Balotsi's forms, and she feels fairly comfortable in it. When Balotsi 'preforms her shows', this is the form used for those. All eyes are on her, and this is by design. From a skintight 'bodysuit' to red cats eye glasses to handcuff bracelets, every part of inch is designed to reek of sex appeal. Saiyan genes make her hair somewhat wild, and carefully chosen fae genes create blue eyes that seem to glow. Hidden under her 'belt' is a thin black tail that seems more similar to a cat's than a saiyan's. Hidden at the tip is a thin needle like protrusion. Even when compared to normal, Balotsi acts more bombastic and teasing in this form compared to others. She feels completely free in this form.
Male form
Height: 6'1
Weight: 175 pounds
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Face Claim Name: Davi
Face Claim Origin: Plunderer
While not as commonly used as the female form, Balotsi is rather fond of this form as well. He uses it as a means by which to 'lay low' if need be. Or well... as much he means by that. By his definition it is actions that do not strictly break the law, so he can't be arrested for. One of his favorite things to do in this form is keep subtly changing the cheek tattoo he has and see how long it takes for someone to notice. The same genes that result in wild hair and vivid eyes in the female form carry over to this form. The strange tail like appendage carries over as well. In this form, Balotsi tends towards flirting and being showy rather than overt sex appeal. Because of this, Balotsi prefers this form for diplomacy, seeing it as 'more controlled'.
True Form
Height: 5'6
Weight: 132 pounds
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Indigo
Face Claim Name: Amajiki Takumi
Face Claim Origin: My Hero Academia
The true form of Balotsi isn't particularly horrifying or even noteworthy. Its simply just... plain. A kind of face that you would see in a crowd and look past without a second thought. Even the small addition of pointed ears just provides something odd enough to not be seen as completely 'plain'. Their hair is wild, but seems so in a messy bedhead way rather than Saiyan. Their purple eyes seem dull and forgettable in this form, which is why they are so blue and bright in other forms. The tail in this form is thick and fairly Saiyan looking, but turns into a wickedly sharp bone needle towards the end. In addition, it was the appearance Pollux had due to lacking transformative abilities. For these reasons, Balotsi rarely uses this form unless forced, citing it as 'too boring', and acting as a painful reminder of someone they will never feel again. They feel extremely uncomfortable in this form, and in contrast to their usual behavior, will try to be seen as little as possible when like this. There are two main reasons Balotsi enters this form: Either they've been completely exhausted to where they don't have any ki to maintain a transformation, or they either will absorb someone or have recently absorbed someone. The exact mechanics for Bio-Android absorption are finicky at best, and any alterations could cause catastrophe. So the only way for Balotsi to safely absorb someone is to stay in this form for 4 days afterwards.
History:
Family:
'Twin': Pollux [DECEASED]
Fellow Projects: Project Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and Taurus
Starting planet: Hegemon
Home Town: Antila Laboratories
In terms of universal proportion, Humans have often found themselves on the back foot compared to other races. While Capsule Corp is a galactic success, that is only one corporation. With rumors of the PTO dissolving soon due to peace, several influential businessmen were worried about the power gap that would follow. Saiyans had military might, Elfen had their elemental abilities, and Salamanders possessed advanced technology: In comparison to them, humans have little. Humans were not a race of warriors, and if the universe broke out in war, humans would be defenseless. Earth needed dedicated warriors who could take a wide range of threats. If none were available, then Earth would make her own. This was the basis for the Horo Task Force.
The Horo Task Force was simple in theory. One main fighter who would be supported by 12 different specialists in non-combative fields. 'Project Ophiuchus' would be the main fighter, and was to be a bio-android capable of absorbing the other members if need be. The honor of creating Ophiuchus would be awarded to the laboratory which created the most successful 'supporting' member, and the glory that came with it. Each of the different Zodiac constellations was assigned their own role. Project Gemini was assigned the role of handling social interaction, infiltration, information gathering, and diplomacy.
Since Project Gemini was to be not only capable, but masterful in terms of social interaction, species that were able to work well with others were prioritized in the DNA. In order to enter and exit a place with no one being the wiser, the transformative genes from demons were acquired. Cell's tail was studied in detail and replicated with moderations: Project Gemini should theoretically be able to absorb another life form and gain their memories, but not their power. The resulting hybrid was 33% human, 25% demon, 15% Saiyan, 15% Fae, 5% Elfen, and 7% an assortment of other species. A single zygote was created with these specifications, and raised in a precisely calculated nutrient broth. Three days after Project Gemini began, the cell cluster split into two, and both organisms began to grow independently.
Gemini, the constellation of the twin, had ended up accidentally making two projects. The coincidence alone convinced the scientist to keep the second developing embryo. Project Gemini was meant to be social, and who better to whet its skills against than a copy of itself.
Project Gemini grew quickly, and the twins became nearly inseparable. They were designated as Alpha-Gemini, and Beta-Gemini. Alpha-Gemini showed the desired traits in the experiment, displaying high sociability, basic transformation and mimicry, and seemed highly attuned to how others felt. Beta-Gemini seemed timid, showed more combat oriented traits associated with the species that composited the bio-android, and tended to hyperventilate when exposed to other's emotions.
The two siblings discovered themselves in the time between experiments. They found emotions almost had different tastes to them, with happiness being the sweet candies they got if they were good, and disappointment being the bitter medicine that left them sick for a week afterwards. Both of them constantly tasted one thing the other couldn't: Alpha had a fresh minty taste in their mouth that felt like a cool breeze after training, and Beta had a warm spice that felt like a hug. Neither of them had a name for it, but it reminded them of the other. With each other's help, they managed to get a page of a book about the constellation they were named for. The hope was to discover more about themselves and gain 'secret knowledge', but the page they had grabbed was one on the mythological origins of Gemini.
This ended up being more valuable than anything else. From it, Alpha and Beta made names. The two twins who became the stars had names, and if their project was made from the Gemini stars, would the twins names be theirs? Alpha proudly announced their name as Castor, and Beta chose Pollux as theirs. The names were a secret between the two of them, and a promise that they would both get out. Castor made a promise silently to themself that they would take the attention of the men in white coats so that Pollux wouldn't have to suffer any more. It wasn't fair! Maybe if Castor made sure that all eyes were on them, then Pollux would be able to escape in the darkness.
Investors soon wanted to know why they were wasting time on the failed Beta-Gemini when Alpha had shown sufficient promise. A board meeting was held, and it was decided that a trial by combat would be held since it seemed to be the only area that Beta excelled in. If one of them won the match, the other would be 'let go'. This is all the two were told before being shoved in a testing chamber and being instructed to fight. Both of them gave it their all in an attempt to help the other, but Beta eeked out an advantage. A droning hum filled the air, and Alpha's vision went black.
When Alpha came to, they were in their old room, but they were alone. Something was wrong. One of the old scientists there told Alpha that Beta was unstable since their body was not designed to accommodate high levels of ki, and self destructed. Alpha barely survived, and would undergo final alterations to fully take on the mantle of Project Gemini.
It was only when the doctors left that Castor let themselves break down, crying for the loss of a sibling, of a promise, of a no longer there minty taste that may not ever be there again, of never knowing what the warm spice that Pollux tasted was, of a thousand other small feelings that he'll never taste again, and a thousand new experiences that never will be able to happen. They cried themselves to sleep, and when they woke up, their body was completely different. It wasn't a child's anymore. It had grown strange gangly limbs that seemed too long compared to the ones they had, and they seemed the size of the people in white lab coats now. They knew things that seemed like the thoughts were shoved into their head and all jumbled. There was a small mirror in the room. Castor looked into the mirror and saw what Pollux might have looked like if they lived instead. The mirror broke. They didn't look in the mirror again. They covered one of the bigger shards with their hand, letting it show red instead of anything else. One of the scientists entered, and the training he's gone through was telling him that the scientist was experiencing fear. A familiar minty coolness bloomed on their tongue, and they couldn't help but laugh, finally having a name for what they always tasted from Pollux but never could pin down. The scientist left, and never came back.
A different scientist did. Later. Much much much much later. Their mind told them that it was only 1 week since the last scientist visited. It felt like a lifetime of loneliness. A week ago, Alpha wouldn't have begged the scientist to stay. A week ago, they never knew such intense loneliness. The scientist mentioned that the lab has been awarded Project Ophiuchus, so most of the research effort would be put towards that. For being a part of a completed project, they were 'awarded' the name B.A.L.O.T.S.I. from the acronym used to refer to them in development. Balotsi hated the name, but used it anyways to try to get the scientist to stay. It was a month later when the next scientist came. Days blurred too much after that to say for certain.
In October 1289, 1 month after the relatively peaceful near-disbarment of the PTO, concerns began to be raised. So much money had already been poured into this Task Force, and there seems to be no need for it. In addition, the paper trails left by funneling massive amounts of resources into this project had been noticed by the Royal Army. A decision had to be made before the 'illegal experimentation' was brought into light. The Royal Army only had power on Earth, not other planets. Transport was quickly arranged for the 12 projects to 6 different planets: Makai, Patch, Brench, Frost, Hegemon, and Lemuria. Project Ophiuchus would be delayed until the investigation was thrown off, and kept on Earth due to its importance.
One month later, Earth goes into lockdown, and the resulting chaos from the news allows for one scientist to go strangely missing, and for Balotsi to have an opportunity. They would find the other projects, unite them, and kill Project Ophuichus for causing them such suffering. And nobody would ever forget them again.
Race Bonuses:
Core Control:
While many humans cannot control their own ki, there are some still that are capable of controlling it to a level other races can only dream of. With this racial, any time a human gives up all their actions to charge their ki, they gain an additional 5 points of ki.
Demonic Shapeshifting:
While Shape shifting is a power most races have to train for years to master, demons - Especially those residing in Makai, are naturally gifted in this field of trickery. More than just a natural gift, those with this racial are granted a free evasion Technique that can use 70% of one's power level in exchange for taking 80 points of Ki once mastered!
Roleplay Example:
Screams echoed through the Hegemon branch of Antila laboratories. Everyone here knew what was causing those screams. Everyone had written it off as a half broken project abandoned in hopes of something far greater. The scientists had forgotten about it. It never stopped plotting against them and now they were paying the price. Gabriel is pretty sure that he's the only one left. He counted the screams and heard 36. There were 40 people working here, and 3 people had already gone missing. He was the last one. There is a knock at the heavy vault door, echoing in the empty air. Gabriel didn't even dare breath.
"Little pig little pig, let me come in~" A minute passes of pure silence. Gabriel has never been this terrified in his whole life. The door starts to slide open.
"You do know how I expected you to respond right? Honestly, I've been waiting for literal years to say that to someone and you just go quiet? Its not only incredibly rude of you, but also more than slightly sad that you don't actually know it. When even an experiment knows something and you don't, you should definitely feel ashamed."
This was too much. Gabriel passed out from fear, prepared to never wake up again.
"Oh for the love of- really?!? After I've set up all this work to create a perfect atmosphere and carefully build suspense, you just pass out?!? I had no expectations for how this would go and yet you still manage to disappoint me. If I wasn't a sucker for a good sob story I would slurp you right up like a juice packet. You'd probably be pineapple flavored." Balotsi looked down at the unconscious intern, irritation plainly obvious on their face. The needle tipped tail twitched from side to side, curling as if prepared to strike. Balotsi forces themself to sigh and wave a hand dismissively.
"While you never did intend to join experimentation on sentient beings, I couldn't exactly let you go 'unpunished' for just standing by. But I also know that you ultimately had no control of the situation since your family was threatened, so I, the great and magnanimous Balotsi, will let you live on to see them. And you're unconscious so you can't hear a word I say! Well this is fantastic... Where did I put that stationary..."
Balotsi pins an extremely fancily penned letter to Gabriel's chest with a jeweled broach. The writing on the paper is so cursive and filled with flairs that its almost impossible to actually read. "Perfection! Now... time to drop you off near a Elfen city and start planning my rise to stardom! Fame waits for no one dearie~" Balotsi winks and turns towards Gabriel, before realizing that again, he is unconscious and can't hear a word that the other is saying.
"... Oh the things I do for decent media exposure."
