For Heaven's sake, my bones will break
It was on days like these that Mars genuinely wonders if she's racist or not. To explain, she's been on Earth for a whopping 24 hours and since then almost every human that she has come across has been incredibly unbearable. It seems like all of them either just refuse to talk to her because of her appearance or they've decided to mess with her. So simple instructions to the nearest whatever would lead her just outside the city or on the other side of town, rather than to her destination. First, she was looking for something to eat, then a place to stay for a bit, and both times she was just given objectively wrong directions. It took every fiber in her being to stop herself from just going back and showing those people a piece of her mind, however even then she wouldn't know the directions to return in the first place. So, ultimately, Mars ended up lost on this piece of garbage planet. So fast-forward to now, where Mars was sitting on a bench in what looked to be a public park to her. It was getting kind of late, the sun starting to set and paint the sky a beautiful combination of red, orange, and yellow. Her feet were aching, and she was freezing, though her discomfort was mainly due to the fact that she was from an area that was hot all-year-round so Earth's weird temperature situation she was not a fan of by any means. There she was, sitting on this bench, minding her own business, freezing her ass off, and starving. And then it started to rain. Nothing heavy, but Mars was quickly drenched within a few seconds. "Aw, you gotta be f- C'MON!" She screamed in anger at the world, and reality itself for being the way it was. Her blood was boiling, angry at the world. Earth so far was an awful place, and deep down she couldn't wait to get what she needed and get her ass off this planet. How do people actually live here? Why? Thread PL: 303 Sensible PL: 5 (using ki suppression) Tomina finally had a break from the hellish training she was being put through. At least for the time being anyway. So far the results were rather mixed: while she was getting a bit more control of her fire abilities, her progress with Deep Focus was torturously slow. Tomina was not someone who could deal with her inner demons that easily. Hell, she relied on her negative emotions in a fight. To cut herself off from them entirely would weaken her. But she couldn’t afford to let them go out of control either. Tomina didn’t know how to strike that balance. So she decided to do something to help past the time. Luckily Aya needed some ingredients for tea and some other small items at a store. She had been given cash for this endeavor and was supplied with an umbrella. She was told it was probably going to rain in East city today, and they were right on the money. Tomina was walking towards a more open space to fly away, carrying bags in one hand and holding an umbrella in her hand in the other. Those plans changed quickly though. Tomina felt the strong energy just before the angry scream to the heavens. She had never felt something so similar yet alien to herself before. And it was strong too. Nothing that she couldn’t handle of course, but it was a far cry from most humans. Tomina made her way to the source to find a girl with blazing red hair. That would be the most striking thing about her if it weren’t from the horns on top of her head. Tomina hadn’t looked in a mirror much during her time on the streets, but she imagined that was a look she must have had on her face back in the day. The frustration, having to stay in public places while simultaneously looking for a place to sleep. This person had that feel about her. She couldn’t just leave her alone. Tomina walked up to her and offered her the umbrella she was carrying. “Sheesh, you’re going to catch a cold if you stay out here like this. Here.”

Earth was still proving to be a world of, many delightful experiences for Lambertia. Take the many transit systems for example. They allowed her to go on excursions to near as darn it the far side of the globe for a day or two and still take less than a week. Back on hegemon if she had wanted to go somewhere, there had to be enough to do to justify spending all the time traveling specifically to that place. Everything was much further apart and there was no such system of transportation. No Trains, no planes. Not that she disliked the many untrodden paths and caravan trails she had grown up on. At the moment she had taken a trip out here to have a look at some of the East cities restaurants. It was coming up on some kind of anniversary of Vanta getting his job in Sharp Sweets and she had wanted to fetch him something from further afield that he would regularly be able to travel because of that commitment. While her own ventures into this capitalism stuff were beginning to yield zenni, it had been his job that had secured the apartment for them. So she had looked up examples of different cuisine on earth an where to find the best examples of them. Several such places were here in east city. She had spent the day looking around them and selected the items, food from a particular restaurant, drinking materials from another location that she had found so repulsive that she’d had to tie a bandana over her nose and mouth to keep the smell out. Not the owners fault, the produce had very favourable reviews and Vanta loved it. So she had endured and bought some for him. Then, later on she had found something called a brewery where she had bought a few things for herself. Unfortunately this has taken such time that there wasn’t another train that would actually get her all the way back to east city this evening. So she was going to have to stay somewhere in the city. She was just heading back deeper into the city through a park to find somewhere when it had started raining. Tipping her face up to enjoy it she heard someone exclaim in anger. Looking around she spotted a red haired girl who looked a similar age to herself. IN her travels she had seen that kind of frustration on people faces before. She had actually seen what looked like a quiet tavern nearby this park earlier in the day. This seemed a good reason to explore it further and see if it was a bed & breakfast. Perhapps supepr as well. Wandering over she greeted her with a smile,
“Hey is everything ok? You need help? There’s a place nearby that we can get out of the rain if you want.” It was only When they spoke almost simultaneously that Lambertia looked down the other path that had come up from behind the other end of the bench and saw of all people Tomina standing there, offering the girl an umbrella. Her smile somehow widened and her eyes literally brightened.

For Heaven's sake, my bones will break
Honestly, the thing that aggravated her the most wasn't even her circumstance anymore, but more the fact that people decided now of all time to help her. She couldn't even explain why she mad in this moment specifically or what particularly ticked her off, but just now that for some reason these helpful people were rubbing in her the wrong way. This was going to leave a stain on her pride, accepting help from some random citizens that are seeing her at her lowest. But she had no other choice but to accept. Her hand would slowly reach out and accept the umbrella offered to her, turning her head only slightly to get a look at whose was relying on. At a glance, it was hard to tell what this person was, though species didn't really matter to her. If anything it was just a healthy curiosity, but that's beside the point. "T-thanks." She spoke as if it physically hurt her to say those words, Mars still finding this whole situation beneath her. "But I don't catch colds. You know, now that I think about it I don't think I've ever actually gotten sick." The thoughts of the red-head were scattered, not really pinpointing one thing or another to focus on for the conversation. And then another person had shown up, just her luck. "Oh, no, everything was fine! Thank you though." She forced a smile and a kind voice. Even if it did annoy her, Mars was still raised with manners. If there was just one person, it would have just been an unpleasant encounter, but with two it made her look like the bad guy. "I was just thinking, that's all. Though I guess I got lost in thought and before I knew it, it was raining. I will take you up on that offer though, finding someplace to get out of this mess." As they continued to talk, the sound of rain got louder and louder as it started to come down harder and faster. This was unlike anything Mars saw back on her homeworld, with rain being rare in the desert that she called home. Abruptly, she shot up off the bench and turned to face the two, howling the umbrella in such a way that it would partially cover all of them rather than leaving one out. "We should really get going, wouldn't want to catch a cold, right?"Notes: sorry bout the wait

The rain came down harder and harder. Tomina was wearing a heavy coat that could handle getting wet, but she had given her umbrella to the girl with the horns. She didn't look that phased by it in the slightest though. She had been through plenty of situations like this in the past. Tomina's hair began to cling to her jacket as a result of rain exposure. Tomina looked at the girl curiously.
"Really? I thought demons caught colds as most people did. Keep the umbrella anyway. Even if the rain doesn't bother you, your outfit isn't exactly designed to handle water, if you catch my drift."
If the red-head had gotten drenched enough, the clothing would have clung to her skin and show off her figure probably more than any girl would reasonably want to be shown. Tomina assumed that this girl was a demon, or had some demon blood in her. The horns were what led her to that conclusion. Tomina looked over in surprise as a familiar voice spoke up. She gave the light Elfen a grin.
"Lambertia! Fancy running into you here!"
Tomina refrained from calling Lamb by the nickname that she gave her. She didn't want to confuse the read head right off the bat. She turned to look at the other girl as she got up. She pressed up against her as the other girl tried to cover all of them. She was trying to make it easier for her to cover her with the umbrella.
"Yeah, we wouldn't want that. Lamb, lead the way. Whatever you have in mind is probably closer than my place."

“Lost in thought huh? I,” The redhead was right, the rain was definitely intensifying rapidly, “I think you’re right! Before we have to swim to the place. It’s this way” Lambertia waved in the direction she’d come from, smiling at Tomina, “I was out shopping but we can talk later once we’re there and we’ve gotten warmed up.”
IT had already been getting dark and the heavy rain only made that considerably worse so to make things a little easier on the other two Lambertia created and directed a beam of light much like a torch from her hands to light up the path out of the park till they got to a better lit area. From there it would only take them a short few minutes to get to the building by when Lambertia at least was fairly thoroughly soaked when she opened the doors and ushered the pair of them in ahead of her.
“Tomina, you wanna find us somewhere to sit? I’ll go get us some towels and drinks. You’ll have a chocolate and uh, yourself? Tea, hot chocolate, soup…. Coffee? Tomina, you eaten?” Inside revealed that the place was a bar & restaurant with a wide variety of seating areas. It wasn’t too busy or noisy on account of the rain though. Once the new girl had spoken Lambertia would rush up to the bar and attract the attention of the barman, smiling and “Hi! How’s it going?”
“Hi there lil missy, well its been pretty dry so far bus summit tells me that might be about ta change. What can I get ye and your friends?”
“You might be on to something with that! Could I get two hot chocolates, with marshmallows, cream, sprinkles, the works. Uh, let’s see the menu…” Once she was done with the orders, including the new girls drink. Then she asked if there was any chance she could have three warm dry towels. Fortunately the barman was able to oblige and thanking him Lambertia brought them and a tray with the steaming hot drinks back over to wherever the girls were and handed them one each. “here dry off a wee bit and get these in you.”

Mars couldn't figure out whether to be offended or not at being called a demon. On one hand, that kind of hurt. She was in fact very proud of her heritage and for it to be confused with something else seemed to really hurt her feelings, more than she would have expected it to. On the other hand, it was a bit much to ask of this person to just immediately know where she was from and who Mars was. The horns coming out of her head didn't help either so Mars couldn't really blame her, but instead take the time to correct her. "Elfen. Fire Elfen, so we don't catch colds. Hard to catch a fever when you're always going to break the thermometer. The horns are a long story, I'd rather not go into it." She spoke swiftly and to the point, her whole racial issue not being of a large concern at the moment. The current mission was to still get out of the rain, though one of them seemed to already have that covered.
Mars followed closely behind them, finding it a fancy trick that one of them could just spawn a source of light. Mars wondered if she could pull of something like that as well if it weren't for the constant water coming down from the sky. Rain was something she wasn't used to, living in the desert for most of her life. As annoying as it was, even she could recognize that it had some sort of purpose. She took the offer of sitting down and spent some idle time looking at her surroundings. The establishment was impressive, mainly because it was different than anything she's seen before. Though that could be chalked up to being on a new planet for the first time ever.
When the drinks came around, Mars accepted it but couldn't bring herself to drink it. It was hot, and it was brown, and it smelled sweet but for some reason she couldn't trust it. The more she looked at it the more she though it was poison. Once she was able to take her eyes off it she looked at her brown-haired acquaintance. "So... what is this?"

"Right! It's best to get of all this rain first."
Tomina looked at Mars in surprise as she told her what she was. "Get out of here! You're a fire Elfen hybrid too?! What a small universe we live in. I guess that explains why I've never gotten sick all my life. I only found out myself recently."
When they got to the restaurant, Tomina went and found them a table fairly quickly. Of course Lambertia would lead them to a bar. Fortunately, Tomina wasn't planning on excessive drinking anytime soon. Tomina sat down, taking a towel from Lambertia and wiping herself off.
"I was heading home to get dinner when I ran into red-head here, so nope!" Tomina had ordered Tea for herself. She took a sip, then looked over at the Red-Head.
"That right there is chocolate. It's really good. Er, we haven't had the chance to introduce ourselves, have we. I'm Tomina. And the Light Elfen next to me is Lambertia. What do you go by?"

Seeing that both women had their drinks in front of them Lambertia made sure to drape the towel for the new girl over the arm of the chair that she was in and then went about towelling herself down making a focus on drying rather than looking dignified while doing so finishing off with dropping the towel on top of her head and brushing her hair vigorously. While listening to the conversation.
She hadn’t clocked that this was another fire elfin, that might be someone cool for Tomina to interact with a bit, someone from the Nuska tribe themselves. It was a shame she didn’t want to get into it because she would have been very happy to take the time for a long story. She was just finishing up as the barman arrived with a large sharing bowl of something called nachos which looked to be smothered in cheese and other bits. She had ordered it because the barman said that it could arrive very quickly, was inexpensive and apparently was good to be shared with four or five people. She waved, at the girls as Tomina introduced herself and managed not to frown as it was pointed out what tribe she was from. She had kind of signalled it a bit already, why make a fuss now. Hopefully an elfan who had travelled all the way to earth wouldn’t get too worked up about it.
“These things are called, ‘Nachos sharing platter’ and there should be some soups coming soon but these were fast and apparently warm and they smell amazing!” She glanced at the towel she had left for the newcomer and shrugged pulling a few nachos onto a small plate for herself. “Tominas right about the chocolate, it is fantastic.”
