Sabine
Mother Demon
Profile:
Character Name: Sabine (named after sabine olives)
Nicknames: Sabi, Hero of Kazak, "Mother Demon" (Used almost exclusively by bandits and allies)
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Race: Saiyan
Age: 26
Birthdate: September 30th, Age 1,264
Personality:
Likes: •Others having pride in themselves:
Quite surprisingly for a saiyan, Sabine wants to see others reach heights that they can be proud of. To her there's no point in competition if her opponents and allies alike cannot recognize their talents.
•Tea:
Sabine has grown to love tea and the calm that it brings. The smell, the taste, the stillness of drinking it, it all helps to keep her stable and her emotions in check.
•Meals from foreign worlds:
Sabine has a saiyan's appetite, however it's not enough just to eat a meal, she takes a sort of joy in trying new foods from other cultures, even better if she learns to love some of them.
•Companionship:
Being a widow, Sabine appreciates friendship and the close bonds she makes. Rest assured if you grow a great bond with her, no matter friend, family, or romance, she will be loyal to you until the bitter end, for better or worse.
Dislikes: •Mediocrity:
As someone who constantly pushes herself and those around her, Sabine cannot stand medocrity - Even less so when someone willingly chooses to settle for that mediocrity.
•Dance clubs and loud music:
Being mature and a general lover of the calm flow of peace, Sabine cannot stand dance clubs and the loud music that echoes from their walls. Not helped by the fact that she has been carefully trained to keep an eye on the people around her, something nearly impossible in a packed club. She far prefers a calm conversation over a warm cup of tea.
•Greed:
One of the few things that is unrivaled in her hatred. She has no sympathy for those who wish to have more than they truly need. People who look out only for themselves, those who would profit from a bad situation, those who place material above all else, she looks at them with scorn.
•Being alone:
Her greatest fear is being all alone. Becoming useless to those around her, causing them to leave her, or merely ending up lost far away from others. These things exist in her worst nightmares, filling her waking thoughts. She feels deeply uncomfortable being entirely by herself.
Strengths: •Unbreakable Determination:
When Sabine chooses a path, she will continue down it even if the results may be unfavorable. No amount of words or pain will deter her from her decisions. Even at the risk of her sanity her will cannot be stopped.
•Maternal Nature:
Having raised a young boy of 5 years all by herself, Sabine's maternal instincts are quite strong, and often will manifest themselves without her awareness.
•Calm and collected:
Despite being a saiyan, Sabine keeps a calm demeanor, always thinking carefully rather than irrationally rushing into things. As a commander, the lives of others depend on her being of sound mind. It is second nature for her to take things at her own pace.
•Experienced:
Sabine has gone through many things in her life. She has recieved a great deal of training under the Traditionalist Empire, and like other traditionalist children was pushed by her parents to train her body and mind at a young age. She has been on many missions throughout her career, striking down warlord and bandit alike.
Weaknesses: •Easily haunted by her past:
Sabine has made many mistakes, cost many people their lives as a natural consequence of war. Though she stays calm, sometimes the mistakes she has made can weigh heavily on her mind, horrors only pushed away by the warmth of tea and a good conversational partner.
•Carries regrets:
Similarly to her haunting past, Sabine can easily have regrets as a result of her choices. Though it doesn't deter her or make her desire to do things differently, she can still become distracted by "what-if"s outside of the battlefield.
•Can be clingy towards those she's close to:
Because of her lonliness and natural appreciation for companionship, Sabine can sometimes dote and hang around those she's bonded with to a level that many would consider annoying.
•Overprotective:
Because of a mixture of her maternal instincts, and her position as a commander, Sabine tends to watch over and guard those she considers friends or allies. Typically not such a bad thing, but when she insists on blowing on their soup so that they don't burn their mouths...
•Disconnected:
During combat, all of Sabine's emotions are shut off as if flipping a switch. She becomes like some kind of machine designed for war. This can make sparring with her concerning or even dangerous as she only considers victory and how to achieve it.
Vices: She cannot resist alcohol when sad or angry.
On the battlefield Sabine loses all sense of self, she becomes cold and machine-like; displaying no emotion whatsoever. Her mind only works to calculate the most efficient ways to achieve victory with minimal risk to the soldiers under her command. Those who have fought alongside her claim that she seems almost possessed by a spirit of war. Those she who have fought against her...Well, they rarely live to report what she is like. Even her allies consider this side of her to be intimudating, perhaps even terrifying in the wrong situations. However, when she's off of the battlefield...
She is calm, caring, motherly. A stark contrast to the horrifying angel of death that glorifies the battlefield with her presence. She is naturally caring and motherly to those younger than her, even the young saiyan soldiers are treated to this maternal kindness. Her superiors believe such behavior is unfavorable for building up proper warriors, though unfortunately for them there is no real rule breaking being done. However, this extreme contrast between possessed warrior and caring mother has led to those who know her referring to her as the "Mother Demon". Although, it is a nickname that makes her feel uncomfortable. She greatly prefers being called "Sabi" if someone must use a nickname.
Sabine is mature, and quite capable of more complicated deep conversations than most her age. Typically such conversations she prefers having over tea time. She tends to find such conversations fulfilling. Though despite this she enjoys less complicated conversations just as much, after all she IS still approachable by those younger than her. Really conversation topics from the weather, to one's school life, to more complex current happenings, she is adaptable to many kinds of conversational topics so long as she has someone to speak to. She is very extroverted and loves to hold discussions with many people.
She is a very calm person, unshakable no matter the words slung at her. Few things get under her skin, and typically those things that do are dealt with before her true ire can be drawn out. However she isn't totally incapable of rage. If someone were to ever hurt her son she would become fury incarnate, ensuring those who hurt him wouldn't make that mistake a second time. This rage extends to those she cares about as well, though to a somewhat lesser extent. Those who are very world being brought to harm or sadness would be the breaking point for her calm and collected attitude. Thankfully however, because she takes steps to keep herself relaxed, it is unlikely anything else would bring out that terrifying anger. She is a relaxed and very patient person who moves at her own pace when not in combat. She lets the rest of the world flow around her, not allowing anyone or anything to make her rush.
The pride she holds as a saiyan is directed towards those she cares about. Her son, her friends, and her family all bring her great pride. Her position in the saiyan army as a commander is another source of great pride. She loves her job, she loves that it is the last gift left behind by her late husband, and as a legacy to him she shows that pride for her work clearly and visibly. Making sure everyone knows that being a commander is a role she is happy to play. Her pride is a different sort, being projected towards things other than her basic fighting skill. However she is very confident in that ability, and as a result of this confidence she makes fewer mistakes in the heat of battle.
Although she does have a negative side. Despite her calm confidence whenever she finds herself alone, her fear of isolation causes her to feel sad and melancholic. In times like these she self-isolates, creating a self destructive cycle that can only be broken by those around her. She will keep to herself and cope with alcoholic drinks in times like these. She can be very self-depricating as a result of the sadness and drunkeness combination.
Appearance:
Height: 5'6" (167 Cm)
Weight: 154 pounds (70 Kg)
Hair Color: Dark Teal
Eye Color: Blue
Face Claim Name: Byleth (Female)
Face Claim Origin: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Sabine has dark teal colored hair that is short, and goes down to her shoulders in length. Her hairstyle is messy and generally unkempt, a rather natural style for most saiyans, but also a hair style she has as a result of cutting her own hair whenever it gets too long. She has natural blue eyes that are stern yet caring in appearance. Her face is mature yet does not bear any wrinkles as a result of her saiyan genetics. Her skin is milky yet also lightly tanned as a result of years of combat campaigns.
Her chest is quite nicely sized as a result of going through pregnancy, however her breasts, lower torso, and back all feature scars as a natural consequence of being a soldier. Though her clothing does a good job of concealing a majority of these. Her hands are rough and her fingertips are lightly calloused, showing her experience. Her abdomin is nicely toned, showing the results of years of difficult training. Her hips are above-average in width, and her legs are slender and long, her legs also covered in scars of their own. On formal occassions she will wear light makeup on her face and arms, however otherwise she prefers to go without it at all. She believes there is no room on the battlefield for a fashion show.
Sabine only really wears one outfit, as it comes in multiple parts and can easily be adapted to most environments outside of extreme temperatures of hot or cold. Starting with the neck she has a long white button up collar that can be detached seperately from the rest of her clothes. The white collar is met at the base of her neck by a long gray jacket with epaulettes colored black. The upper back and sleeves of her jacket are adorned with symbols of the Traditionalist empire, marking her as a commander in their army. The sleeves have been modified by her to have holes at the elbow where her arms hang free from the sleeves.
Along her arms she wears elbow and fore-arm armor plating, allowing her to both better block physical strikes without battering her arms, and allowing her to perform elbow strikes without causing damage to herself. The forearm plating extends down into armored gauntlets that wrap around her knuckles for increased punching efficiency. Much like her other armor plates, she can also use these gauntlets for greater protection against blades or particular hard strikes.
For her clothing, Sabine wears a black blouse that ends just above her stomach. A large brooch adorned with pink ribbons rests against her chest proudly displaying her family's crest. The blouse is met at her hips by a pair of tight black shorts that end just above her thighs. The perfect pants for not restricting movement during combat according to her own words. A belt is tied around her waist with a strap for holding daggers and swords. Attached to the belt is a removable black leather waist cape that extends down to her ankles.
Perhaps one of the few feminine features of her outfit are the lacey brown stockings that extends downwards from underneath her shorts. The stockings feature intricate patterns and go underneath her footwear. Meeting these stockings at the bottom is a single shinguard plate on her left leg, and long black leather boots with an extended heel to them. - A feature that would make combat harder for most, however she considers it something that makes pivoting on the heel much easier.
Attached to her belt is a dagger with a black and gold hilt with impressive gilding. The dagger is sheathed in a short blue scabbard. She prefers not to use this very often in combat and instead often uses it for utility purposes instead. On the back of her belt is a steel grip extending bladed whip which is concealed by her coat, offering it up as an element of surprise to unsuspecting combatants. The whip's grip is an intricately designed silver sword-style hilt. The whip itself is designed to be infused with one's ki, supercharging the damage it inflicts.
The final piece of her outfit is something not often worn: a pair of red framed glasses she wears when reading in low light. Some often comment claiming it gives her an extra air of sophistication and maturity. She may occassionally wear these to attract any potential romantic partners as well. Brought together with the rest of her ensemble it helps bring extra emphasis to her eyes.
History:
Family: Father: Daucus, Mother: Tomari, Husband: Danva (Deceased), Son: Kabucha
Home world: Patch
Starting planet: Earth
Home Town: Patch Imperial Capital
Chapter 1: Dawn
Born on the 30th day of September, Age 1,264 to Daucus and Tomari, Sabine was not a noteworthy infant among the saiyan race, however being the daughter of a saiyan commander, her birth was still quite celebrated in smaller circles. Belonging to a proud traditionalist family with direct ties to the army, Sabine grew up hearing countless stories of brave saiyan warriors that exemplified their entire race: From the saiyans of ancient tikes, to heroes of the Traditionalist empire, Sabine can recall hundreds of individual stories told to her by her father. Though her favorite story was that of Prince Vegeta; a tale of forced exile, dark times, and recovery into a legacy greater than ten saiyans combined. It was this tale that shaped her goals as a child. She wished to exemplify the legacy Vegeta left behind for his people.
Daucus being a commander of the saiyan army at the time fully supported her goals, and as a result pushed her far harder than most saiyan children. Though her training as a child was difficult, it was her dedication to it that made her one of the top fighters in her age brackets. At just eleven years old she was keeping up with children two age brackets above her. Though she was still far below those at the top, she was more than capable of defeating anyone outside of top ten placements during tournaments. She even managed to win a tournament when she was twelve, much to the excitement of her parents.
At age fifteen her priorities shifted however. If she ever wanted to be like the heroes she had heard tales of she knew she had to be far more than just a fierce fighter - She had to be a great leader as well. Though her father was reluctant, he allowed her to accompany him on smaller missions. It was through these moments she got her first taste of real combat, and her first lesson on what it means to be a leader. Not just in what one must know to lead, but in the attitude that pushes those under one's command to greater heights. She learned that leadership wasn't just about ordering those under her to victory; it was about earning the respect of them too.
At age sixteen she met Danva, a boy who shared all of her ambitions. The two quickly bonded, both having shared in hearing many stories of saiyan heroes in their childhoods. They had become great friends, both with a shared goal: They would be accepted into the Imperial Academy together, no matter what! To that end they both spent a grand majority of their free time, training with one another both physically and mentally: Training their bodies to become greater fighters, and training their minds to become unparralelled leaders.
It was with this shared training that the pair knew they would effortlessly be able to enter the academy once they became old enough! Their training together went on for many months... But the pair began to grow distant as they inevitably learned that while their goals may be the same - The paths they took were incompatible. Sabine wanted to become a respected commander, but Danva... He wanted to go even higher. He wanted to become a king. The fissure that was created was impossible to repair. They would inevitably go their seperate ways. Sabine was distraught over the loss of a friend... But she couldn't stop seeking her goals. She wouldn't let this stop her.
Chapter 2: Her Own Pace
At age seventeen, Sabine had gone from training daily with a friend to training in complete solitude. She would spend her days silently studying as much as she could, focusing on training her mind. - She couldn't guarantee being the best fighter, but if she could guarantee being the most studious, she could still make it into the academy without losing to Danva. She knew that he would be her opponent to entry, no matter how much she wanted to deny it, to run from it, to avoid it.
Her time was drawing near. All saiyans could apply to join the imperial academy starting at 18 years old. She could have made it into the academy on her father's recommendation, but simply being given what she wanted wasn't what she wanted. Nepotism burned her at her core. Besides, Danva would undoubtedly be trying as soon as he was old enough, and Sabine... She didn't want to lose to him. The fires of competition burned in her heart, pushing her to her limits day after day. But with this rage, this need to compete, it slowly broke her down. Pushing herself beyond her limits so frequently took its tole, and she felt frustrated as her goal seemed to be growing further and further away the harder she tried.
Ultimately it was the words of her mother that made her come to a realization... All those years ago when she had become a great fighter as a child...She never pushed herself before, but still reached great heights. It was a realization that while her efforts were right, her angle of approach was wrong. Sabine took a step back, took a deep breath...And stopped for tea. She dropped her training to simply drink a relaxing cup of tea and reflect. And it was this reflection that helped her to discover a new avenue of training... Meditation. It was time to resume her training...
And resume her training she did, but this time it was at her own pace. She mixed physical and mental training with an hour of meditation over tea every day. Soon she found herself improving leaps and bounds beyond what she could achieve by brute force training. Had she really been missing the point all this time? She felt her mind clear the more she progressed. Where once there was frustration at her own weakness, a burning fire in her heart over competition, and a feeling of despair over the potential for failure, there was now only a calm. This learning to switch her emotions through self-reflection would become an invaluable asset in the future.
It was almost time for the academy trials. She had finally reached eighteen years of age. She was an adult now, not just physically, but mentally too. With her new method of training, with her acquired mental fortitude, she was approaching the academic trials not with a rash drive of competition, but the careful drive of a calm mind that was able to slowly approach any given situation. The day of the trials had arrived, and her friend turned rival Danva was there, waiting to prove to her the growth he had gone through since their split. But she wasn't going to lose to him...
Chapter 3: Academia
The trial had finally arrived. Today was the day Sabine would have to compete with her former friend, the boy who was now a man. Sabine may have grown leaps and bounds in those two years, but Danva had changed even more drastically. The boy who was once a friendly bright eyed lad was now a battle hardened soldier. The two paths had led to two very different people. Both knew they would have to compete against eachother before this trial could end.
And so a ceremony had begun. All the hopeful young adults had gathered before several imperial commanders. Everyone had been motivated by the speech of those who with luck would one day be their superiors. And yet even despite this boost of morale, many of the saiyan youths gathered here today felt the churning of anxiety in their stomachs. Even the now unshakable Sabine had to focus on calming herself. Yet Danva stood bravely in the face of adversity, his victory was the only option. That much he declared proudly.
And with final words of encouragement from their commanders, the trials had begun. Three trials that were each designed to test a saiyan to their very limits. The first trial; one on one combat. 100 hopeful saiyans pitted against each other with only 50 advancing. For many there including Sabine it was a hard fought victory. The old Sabine would have let guilt hold her back, having dashed the dreams of another person, someone just like her...But not now. It was either her or them. And she couldn't afford to be sent home empty-handed. Not after how far she had come to get to this point.
Danva however brutally achieved his win in two minutes with powerful decisive blows. With that the first trial had come to a close. Danva and Sabine both would progress to the second trial. They faced one another with determination in their eyes. And then came trial two: Coordination and commanding skill. A test to display how capable those among them are in areas of leadership. Each of the 50 students are appointed five trained soldiers to command, and must lead them to victory against five opposing soldiers.
It was time for Sabine to shine. The trial she had put the most preparation into. The trial in which her path to victory was assured. With a deep breath and the memories of her father in mind, she began her trial, clearing with no losses despite the difficulty she faced in achieving it. Even her rival Danva had not succeeded in zero losses, having lost two out of five soldiers on his road to victory. It was her dedication not to winning, but to protecting those under command that led to such a result. As the top placement in trial two, Sabine was chosen to lead her team in the final trial. It was a moment of pride for her. All of her hard work lead to this moment, she had earned this through blood and sweat.
Danva was chosen as the leader of team two due to his stunning victory in the first trial. Here in the final trial these two dreamers stood as opposing commanders. The final trial was simple. A war scenario in which all 24 of the remaining students would be split half and half into two competing teams. The goal was simple: The first team to claim the enemy flag and bring it back to their own flag would be declared the winners. Though the goal was simple in concept, the reality was anything but. The two commanders had to ensure their team's survival or victory would most certainly be impossible. Sabine knew that this trial was a fusion of the first and second, and that in terms of raw strength... Danva's team had the greatest advantage. She would have to protect her allies while thinning the numbers of the opposing side if she was to have any chance at victory.
The battle had begun, the final trial to decide whether she would be admitted to the academy, or sent home in crushing disappointment. It was a long hard fought back and forth. Danva's sheer power had already resulted in the loss of two of Sabine's teammates. But she wouldn't be defeated so decisively as Danva's other opponents. She cooperated with her allies in a "divide and conquer" strategy, narrowly managing to dispatch four of his team members before he finally managed to put a stop to her devistating strategy.
The battle continued on for ten grueling hours, opposing teams matching eachother's attacks blow for blow. Saiyans dropping from exhaustion and pain alike. Flags being grabbed and then immediately dropped from painful surprise attacks. Danva and Sabine were equally matched as leaders due to the extreme positives they each held. Their teams had been reduced to four each. However things were quickly looking to be in Danva's favor. If it were a one on one matchup, Sabine would certainly lose. She was a capable warrior, but he had power and stamina on his side. She had to end this now while she still had three allies. Sabine quickly pulled a faint, drawing Danva after her - Drawing the enemy team's strongest member away from her allies. He had fallen for the strategy due to his extreme desire to beat her and prove himself the champion.
Ultimately she sacrificed herself as he began to effortlessly counter her every attack, it was a sacrifice that was not in vain. A siren sounded to signal that the trial was over. She laid on the ground battered and bruised, watching as one if her allies placed the enemy flag next to their own flag. Though Danva had defeated her in battle - He had lost the war. In that moment he wasn't angry, or sad... He was impressed. He realized then and there that perhaps being a leader, being someone to look up to was about more than just being strong and shouldering victory by yourself. He smiled at her, helping her to her feet. The former friends made amends as the sun set on Patch. They had both faced victory and defeat in different ways on that day. And yet when it came time to announce those who would be admitted into the academy... They were both accepted because of the exceptional skills they had put on display.
Her dreams had finally begun in earnest. And now she had recovered a friendship that was thought lost forever. Though her body ached, her mind raced with joy for all that transpired on that day. The trial had been completed, and it shaped her in ways she never could have imagined.
Chapter 4: Mourning
Two years had passed. Sabine and Danva had both graduated from the academy. Danva became a commander, and Sabine had become a soldier under his command. The two had grown very close over this time. When two people grow close then friendship may sometimes blossom into something more. The pair fell in love because of the mutual respect they held for one another. After a mission that got Danva seriously injured, the two decided to get married. Neither knew if the end may come for them at any time.
Their wedding was simple, neither felt the need for something showy, and so they had a small, quiet wedding with only their immediate family there for them. For both of them this was more than enough. Of course being a commander, Danva's marriage inevitably became a topic of interest for some, but he paid it little mind. He was content with his choices, and didn't need others to reassure him. The two were...Happy. Sabine held some regrets, having met a girl named "Finanna" in the academy she held romantic feelings for and never confessed to. However she wasn't unhappy with the way things had turned out. She loved him just as much as her crush from the academy.
With marriage comes children as is the natural way of things. Sabine had become pregnant, and within the next year gave birth to a son the pair named "Kabucha". He was... Different from the other children. He had turqouise eyes and blonde hair. According to saiyan doctors it was the rare saiyan albinism. - Something that unbeknownst to those in the Traditionalist Empire would have gotten a child executed for in the empire of King Vegeta. Thankfully this condition didn't affect his health adversely, and Sabine loved him very much, no matter how different he looked from the others. She would take time away from the Imperial army to raise Kabucha, making sure to dote on him as a brand new mother often does.
She was twenty two when the other commanders approached her with news of a terrible sort. Her husband Danva had been killed while on a mission to dethrone a warlord. Even for someone as calm as Sabine, this news was...Devastating. The man she held such a deep respect was gone so suddenly... And her infant son would have to be raised by only one parent. These things made it very difficult for her. She took the time to mourn, she held...A great many regrets over this. Blaming her own inaction. Had she still been an active soldier under his command, could she have prevented his death? She spent many sleepless nights asking herself that question in her mind repeatedly. Overcome with a painful feeling of loss and a overwhelming guilt. Those peaceful tea times weren't enough to calm her now ...
A year later the saiyan empire approached her officially, offering her a commanding position. The one she had sought since she was a child. - The commanding position Danva held. She worried about Kabucha, but... She assured herself that she wouldn't EVER let him become an orphan. She left her two year old son in the care of her parents, leaving to assist her people in a coming war. The rumors of a powerful warlord were proving true. The man who killed Danva was about to challenge the Saiyan Empire directly... ... And she was going to make sure she took his head.
Chapter 5: The Flames of War
She had finally reached the role she desired so strongly, and yet... It didn't feel as fulfilling as she had hoped. Having to trade her husband's life for the job of her dreams didn't bring her any joy. But she was going to be watching over the lives of others. She couldn't allow her feelings of guilt to cloud her judgement. These soldiers were depending on her to bring them victory and get them home safely. With a quick briefing over the situation unfolding, Sabine had been paired with other commanders, including her father Daucus and a man named Garl.
And so one month had passed, and the saiyans went to war. Sabine's knowledgable and calm method of leadership helped to ensure the safety of those under her command. Even in the heat of battle she did not lose her cool and kept every last soldier in her squadron from dying against the warlord of Kazak and his barbarians. There were many times where she doubted herself, but with careful observation in battle, and a motherly approacg to caring for her soldiers out of battle, those feelings of fear were made easier. She eased not only her own fears, but those of the young saiyans following her. They fought fiercely as a result of her caring approach.
Despite the Warlord's monopolized power, having challenged the full might of the saiyan empire was a fatal mistake. No matter how hard his barbarians fought, they were no match for a saiyan. The warlord's territories continued to shrink as each squadron pushed deeper into the territory of the neighboring planet. The king of Patch himself arrived to assist, bolstering the morale of his people and setting his sights on the warlord. He wanted to send a message to this upstart challenger: Do not challenge a saiyan unless you intend to be crushed. However... The warlord had prepared for this. He had planned for the king to appear this entire time.
And so as the final assault on the warlord's capital began, each saiyan squad attacked from seperate districts, intending to overwhelm his defenses. But each squad was met with empty city streets as they pushed in. Concern grew in Sabine's mind, her stomach felt as though it was rising up into her throat. Every part of this final assault rang alarm bells in her head. She knew it had to be an ambush. Indeed as the king approached an open square, the warlord's barbarians attacked from the shadows, wounding the king and causing the squads to suffer heavy losses. But Sabine knew this was coming, those painful feelings were right. She was able to commabd her squad and successfully counter the ambush, her squadron holding their ground at the northern quadrant of the capital city.
She felt relief as she realized her soldiers were all still alive. She swore to protect them, to bring them home alive no matter what. That relief was broken in the blink of an eye... The warlord arrived in the Northern section of the city, his plan was to escape with his life. Unfortunately for Sabine, that plan conflicted with the plans of her own. He appeared so quickly, she couldn't have ever prepared for this. She reached out as he rushed towards the youngest soldier under her command. He had taken the initiative to attack the warlord head on. ... The warlord caught the young saiyan's kick with a bladed whip, pulling his leg off-course, and then impaling him through the chest with a sword.
Sabine's eyes grew wide in that moment, her very core was shaking. A soldier under her command... A saoyan lad who was barely eighteen years old...Had been killed right in front of her. She felt incomprehensible rage and despair, and it all burst out at once as the man who had killed so many people, the man who ruined her life just laughed like a maniac. She rushed at him and entered combat against him, striking him in the jaw much to his surprise. What followed was a tough battle. She tried her best to end his life, but that bladed whip gave him too many options. Countering her attacks was simple, especially now that her judgement was clouded by anger. He was winning, battering her and slashing at her with that whip of his. Sabine...
... Fell to the ground, unable to stand despite how hard she fought to do so. The warlord stood over her, the same blade he killed her soldier with was now aimed and ready to decapitate her, a demonic smile crossed his face as he took joy in what he was about to do. Her soldiers were all only able to watch in despair as the warlord's barbarians blocked their every avenue of rescue. To everyone watching, this was the end of the saiyan named Sabine. The warlord raised his blade, ready to deliver a fatal strike to the saiyan commander. ... And then her eyes opened, eyes filled with hatred. She raised her palm and delivered a focused ki beam straight to the warlord's chest. His eyes became bloodshot and filled with tears as the beam burned through his chest, blasting clean all the way through him. His devilish smile of victory turned into an expression of mortal terror as he fell backwards onto the ground, unable to even utter final words as his soul left his body before he even hit the ground.
Sabine fell unconscious, her last view as everything grew dark being her squad gaining the upperhand in battle due to the sudden death of the barbarian leader. She was...Fulfilled. Many hours later she opened her eyes, returning to the world of the conscious. She was in a bed, a majority of her body covered in bandages. Every part of her body ached and burned in pain whenever she attempted to move. The other commanders were there to congratulate her. She had killed the warlord, and as a result the barbarian army fell. Those who were killed effortlessly surrendered in fear. ... Only to then be cut down by saiyans enraged by the bold attempt on the life of their king. Much to Sabine's relief, the king was able to retreat before his wounds could grow too serious.
And yet...She felt a great sadness. The young saiyan who was depending on her to bring him home to his family had lost his life. His image haunted her, and she once again became wracked with guilt. It would take a month's time for her to recover from her injuries. Upon returning home to Patch, she and the other commanders were met with cheers from the citizens of their home world. Word had spread quickly of how she dealt the killing blow, and she was celebrated as a hero. Even the king of Patch awarded her with a medal and an honorary place in his empire.
Though she was sad over the death of that young saiyan, by killing the warlord she had avenged not just her husband, but everyone who had died under that man's cruel hands. With a long campaign finally closed, Sabine took some time off to be with her son. She had accomplished what she set out to do. She could rest easy having finally gotten closure for Danva. She would spend the next year simply staying at home to raise her son and overcoming her guilt through calming hobbies such as gardening.
Chapter 6: Mother Demon
At twenty four years old, after a year of rest Sabine returned to her role as a commander under the traditionalist empire. It was...A difficult return for her. She was afraid to face the results of her inaction, but she wanted to ensure her husband's legacy wouldn't fade. Much to her surprise she wasn't met with scorn for losing one of her soldiers... She was met with thanks. Thanks from those who had lost friends in the war on Kazak. By killing the warlord then and there, she had not only kept him from going into hiding, but had also avenged the countless saiyans slain under his orders. Though she couldn't exactly see things the way others did, there was no hatred towards her or her mistakes.
Over the next two years the hero of Kazak would participate in many short term campaigns, both eliminating remnants of the Kazak barbarians, and many smaller bandit cells that threatened the neighboring worlds of Patch. She was like a mother to the soldiers under her command, a natural consequence of the time spent raising her son between missions. Though some would be annoyed by this, many appreciated the gesture, as often times soldiers under the empire would be away from home for long periods.
As for her emotions on the battlefield, she was able to apply the training methods she learned as a child in a completely new way - She learned to "disable" her emotion. She would appear as a being possessed from this point forward whenever she entered combat. Her allies grew confident cooperating with her reliability. As she took on more and more missions, rumor spread like wildfire among those who wished anarchy on the local planetary cluster; a woman who fought like a monster, someone who would kill with a blank stare. The legend of the "Mother Demon" was born.
However, despite the fear brought about by the Mother Demon, a new threat began to rise beneath the shadows. Someone who knew of Sabine, knew of her past, but cared little for the threat she posed to them. These strange people...Were saiyans. Traitors to Patch. No matter how many campaigns she fought against them, they never weakened, and they never wavered against her. It was concerning to her. Who were they? What were their goals? It seemed that no matter how often she fought them, they always chose small targets. Attacking small villages, stealing from space caravans, causing chaos. No matter how many times she fought them back they never seemed to have a concrete goal.
But she still fought against them. As a responsible commander she owed it to her people to put a stop to the chaos caused by them. "The children of Paragus" they called themselves. A title that made little sense to her personally. It slowly began to seem as though they WANTED the imperial army brought upon them. Something she would gladly oblige. This back and forth went on for an entire year, before finally her squad had been alerted that the Children of Paragus had arrived on Patch with several men calling themselves the leaders. She brought down her full power against them, using her best strategies to not only force them back, but completely route their numbers into destruction. In just two hours she brought her squadron to an advantageous position, allowing the other squads an opening to swoop in and defeat the three leaders before they could retreat. Though it felt anti-climactic, the Children of Paragus had been annihilated. This time hopefully for good.
Chapter 7: Dusk
A year had passed since her assistance in the Children of Paragus campaigns. Sabine's career had been slow since that decisive victory, but it didn't bother her truth be told. She was glad she could spend more time with Kabucha. She owed a lot of time to him after all. She was far prouder being the mother of Kabucha than she was being the hero of Kazak. Having this much downside did come with the consequence of realizing how lonely she was without romance in her life, but... She knew as long as she had her son that things would be okay.
These peaceful days were never meant to last. Over night word struck that the King of Patch, the man she had grown to befriend, the one who had bravely led his people on Kazak...Had been murdered by an unknown assailant. She mourned the loss of a great man alongside the rest of the people of Patch...But as a saiyan commander she had a role to play. She was immediately called to briefing with the others. They had a problem, that much hardly needed to be stated. They had to find this mysterious assassin and put an end to them, to bring them to justice for the king - For the people of Patch.
They enlisted her assistance to investigate. Though she considered herself not to be particularly qualified for investigative work, she was a wartime strategist, not a detective after all - Those enlisting her aid considered her for a different reason: A majority of the soldiers in the empire respected her. If anyone could get people to lower their guard, she could. She was reluctant to keep secrets from the people who trusted her, but considering this was for the sake of avenging the king, she gave in and cooperated. She spent two weeks going whichever way she was durected by her superiors, gathering information and creating a list of suspects. But it was the news that broke barely a week later that sent her in a new direction entirely...
The king of Earth passed along information to her higher ups: There was an assassin that had been terrorizing the rest of the Galaxy. The generals of the imperial army operated under the assumption that this threat to Earth was the one to kill their king. When Earth's ruler requested assistance from them, they were all too happy to oblige, both to keep their valuable commanders safe, and to hopefully get revenge for the death of their king. Naturally Sabine was among the number of saiyan elites chosen to assist Earth. Though she objected quite verbally, believing she should share in the turmoil of her home world. But they insisted she and her son were in danger staying on Patch.
There was no way she could deny them with her son's safety in mind. Reluctantly she agreed to joining the alliance. In just two weeks she and Kabucha were sent to Earth to stay in a private villa assigned to the saiyan elites and their families. It was...Different to say the least. But the peace was something she could certainly adjust to. She now lives here with her five year old son, waiting for further instructions from her higher ups. She lives in an uneasy peace, knowing that at any moment she could be sent to deal with the powerful assassin that may very well have killed her king effortlessly. She will make the most of her time here, knowing that as soon as her assignment is completed, she will get to return home once again. This is the end of her storied history, and the beginning of a new chapter for Sabine and Kabucha both.
Race Bonuses:
Bloodlust:
Saiyans are infamous for their bodies' natural inclination towards combat. For those that choose this racial, once per thread they can activate the "Bloodlust" skill; which increases all defense Techniques by an extra 50% of their max power level while draining their ki by 30 additional points for one turn.
Battle Stamina:
Saiyans know exactly the most efficient ways to channel their Ki in war time. When using offensive Techniques, you use 5 points less Ki than normal
Roleplay Example:
Plumes of smoke rise above a once peaceful saiyan village. The homes are consumed in fire as strange men in black armor torch them with ki blasts. A fierce back and forth skirmish carries on all around the village as imperial soldiers fight to bring an end to the Children of Paragus. An imperial soldier calls out to the commander on the scene as he spots something quite noteworthy...
"Commander Garl! I see them! The leaders of Paragus are here!"
Garl gives a cocky grin, closing his eyes as he wonders to himself about the circumstances at hand, as unbelievable as they are.
"So, that old bastard Parz and his two sons decided to show their faces now of all times? What a waste. Here I thought they had goals! Hmph. Soldiers, get in there and contain the damage! They've got an advantage of numbers but if we dig in and go on the defense then we can keep them at bay for a while!"
One of the soldiers under his command looks to him with concern clearly on their face as they wonder what exactly will happen to him.
"But Commander! What about you? This will leave you completely unguarded!"
Garl merely gives the soldier a hearty laugh and a proud smile in response, his next words as confident as his stature.
"I'm not about to die on home turf boy! I'm going to go draw the attention of Parz and his lot! If they want a fight then they've got one."
Divide and conquer. A simple strategy of cutting off leadership from those under their command. The children of Paragus were too well organized and Garl was intent on changing that. He rushes forward, putting everything he's got into his legs, he slips right past the frontline of battle, blasting an enemy away as he does so. His eyes never waver, watching every step Parz takes, ready to kill the old saiyan with his own hands. He was going to put an end to this here and now. Parz however had other plans...
"Father Parz, it seems an imperial commander seeks to take your life. Shouldn't we be away before he gets too close?"
Parz laughed, he laughed wickedly until his voice grew raspy and he began to cough. He stopped himself long enough to speak, clearly amused by this "threat" on his life when to him, it was clear he had the advantage.
"Nonsense. I know that man, he's too confident in his role. He won't ever ignore someone in need under his command. Besides, I can't leave until I've witnessed the hero of Kazak with my own eyes. Take one of the imperial soldiers hostage. Stall that fool!"
His underlings stared at him, clearly confused as to why he wanted reinforcements to arrive and send any advantage he had into the abyss. But they complied, fading off into the battlefield as Garl continued his approach. However Garl was stopped suddenly as someone shouted for help. It was a soldier who had followed him bravely into combat, hoping to slow his pursuers, yet such an effort had the opposite effect. The boy was taken hostage by Parz' elite. Garl scowled as he turned to stare down his opponents.
"Cowards. You call yourselves saiyans?! Cowards the lot of you! If you want a hostage then take ME you bastards!!!"
Silent footsteps echoed behind him, but his mind was racing with thoughts of combat, it was far too late for him to react before a voice called out from behind...
"A volunteer? How corageous."
Garl was pulled into a tightly locked grip and left defenseless, the cultists gathered in front of him, brandishing daggers and staring him down with murderous intent. Garl closed his eyes smiling, he was ready to accept his fate without fear. In an instant a cultist leapt at him, dagger drawn! He was prepared to hear the sound of flesh meeting blade, and his own blood flowing from a wound... ... Instead he heard the sound of a swift strike as an unknown combatant rushed in and struck the cultist in the face, putting their full weight behind the punch!!!
"Well...I'll be damned."
Sabine stood before him, having protected him from a swift painful demise. It seems the moment she arrived she rushed into the village. The cultists surrounding the pair released Garl and began to back away in shock.
"The mother demon...The mother demon is here!!!!"
That name echoed across the battlefield, the imperial forces bolstering their morale, and the cultist army slowly losing their grip upon hearing the news that their advantage was gone. Sabine and Garl both quickly dispatched the cultists surrounding them, Garl giving a scoff.
"Took you long enough. You always do like making a dramatic entrance huh?"
Unlike his cultists, Parz...Was not shaken by the arrival of Sabine. Even as the imperial army roared in hope as her arrival was called out by those on the front lines. Rather than become afraid... His face twisted into a smile of pure evil. It seems he had gotten exactly what he was hoping for.
"It's time. Pata, Mato. Come with me to the Cathedral. It is time to witness the power of this..."Mother Demon" for ourselves."
The two sons of Parz followed him as they took the backroads into the village, entering the cathedral at the village's center. He ordered his cultists to retreat to the central plaza, drawing the imperials towards the cathedral - Drawing Sabine herself there. The imperial army, bolstered by two commanding officers leading the charge effortlessly cut through the desperate defenses set by the children of paragus. Garl and Sabine both commenced one final push through the Cathedral doors, taking down every last cultist that rushed them in a desperate attempt to deal lasting damage. This battle of desperation continued until there were none left that dared challenge them. But this was not a positive change...
Silence followed their seeming victory, only for the silence to be broken by slow, monotonous clapping. Parz watched the pair of commanders, laughing as he did so.
"I've heard so much about you, "Mother Demon" was it? To be honest with you, I doubted the stories. I thought that perhaps my children were exaggerating. Maybe they had been spooked by a well organized strike force, perhaps someone just got lucky."
Parz moves to the left calmly, placing a hand on the shoulder of Pata before he resumes his speech.
"But I'm starting to believe there is some weight to that name. Show me. Show me the adversity that made you the hero of Kazak. Show me your full power, or die in the ashes of your home world!"
Pata rushed forward, his aura flaring as he shouted in a primal rage. He pulled back and threw a punch full force at her after closing the gap between them terrifyingly fast. She raised her arms, the steel gauntlets blocking the damage dealt, but pushing her back several feet. However Pata wasn't finished with just one strike. He rushed at her, a flurry of punches battering her. She attempted to carefully block each strike but it was simply too fast. His strikes shattered her gauntlets and began to damage her arms. The entire time Pata screamed in pure rage. Sabine sends a powerful kick to his abdomen, trying to slow his offensive rush. It buys her time as Pata slides back, catching his breath. Sabine herself is worse for ware after only a few minutes.
"You see! You have so much potential. There is no man alive that can force Pata away when he is enraged, and yet with a single strike you have forced him to catch his breath. The truth is that your power level is equal to his. But you could never match him as you are. You believe a calm nature strengthens you... But so long as you deny your rage you will never possess even a fraction of the raw potential within you! Surely you feel the anger building within you. The fury within your core. I have killed so many of your people... Why do you deny the nature of a saiyan? It is only natural for us to embrace our raw emotion!"
Parz spoke to her of emotion, of saoyan nature... All while Pata resumed his onslaught. Garl attempted to intervene, clearly seeing that Sabine was fighting a losing battle. However as he rushed in he was struck in the stomach by Mato. The two then entered combat as well, Mato intentionally pushing Garl as far away from the entrance as possible.
"A true demon would allow themselves to be overcome by a bloodlust!!! Or are you even a saiyan at all?"
Sabine leapt away from Pata as Parz continued, however Pata gave chase, planting a foot squarely against her stomach, sending her flying into a support beam. She cried out in pain as the air left her lungs due to the impact, and she dropped to the floor, trying desperately to catch her breath.
"You are WEAK. Your lack of emotion will be the death of you... Perhaps Danva shared that thought as he was impaled, hm?"
Those words...Those infuriating, horrible words were the limit of what she could stand. Her once emotionless face shifted into an expression of pure rage. She shouted and jumped to her feet, leaning forward as Pata approached and unleashing a devastating flurry of blows rught to his stomach.
"SHUT...UPPPPPP!!!!"
Pata's own expression began to change as well, Sabine's stomach strikes continued, and Pata began to spit up blood. She didn't stop even despite the fight leaving her opponent entirely. Pata fell over onto the floor and Sabine shifted, still screaming in anger as she continued to strike his stomach again and again and again, even though Pata had long since died from internal bleeding. She continued for a minute longer before her punches became slower and slower until she finally stopped, her breathing heavy and painful, her throat burning with each breath.
"Good. Good!!! Do you see now? Your potential could be realized if only you accepted your true self. This empire of yours only holds you back...Join me and I will help you reach heights our ancestors could only have dreamed of!!!"
Sabine stood up slowly, pure hatred filling her eyes as she turned to look at Parz. She had only one thing to say to him.
"I'm going to kill you."
Meanwhile Garl and Mato's battle had been equally as intense, however it was quickly coming to a close as Garl began blasting the pillars of the cathedral in an effort not to strike Mato, but to drop the entire building ontop of him. It seems the ploy paid off as Mato was too consumed by his rage to notice what was happening. As the last of the cathedral's support beams crumbled, Garl kicked Mato's feet out from under him and rushed towards the exit, calling out to Sabine[/i]
"We've gotta leave!!! Come on, this place is going to drop!"
As Sabine began striking the old man Parz in the face repeatedly with her open palm, only Garl's words of urgency were enough to snap her out of her blind anger. She looked back towards the entrance as Garl made his escape, and then she promptly dropped Parz onto the floor. He laughed maniacally as she ran for the exit.
"It doesn't matter if I die here... I've already accomplished what I set out to do! I've planted the seeds of the future... Hahahaaaa!!!-"
His laughter was brought to a sudden end as a massive chunk of the ceiling fell on him, crushing him instantly.
Garl collapsed on the ground outside of the now collapsed cathedral, he was left weak and exhausted after his battle with Mato.
"Good work in there Sabine. Glad to see you haven't gotten soft after all this time. But that? That was...Not like you at all. Color me surprised, I didn't think you had that kind of anger in you at all!"
Sabine gave a sigh as she sat on a segment of wall, clearly bothered by what happened in their battle back there.
"... I don't want to talk about that."
The words of Parz weighed heavily in her mind. What he said couldn't possibly be true. Her entire life, it was a calm mind that allowed her to grow in strength. But when she let all of her anger out, she defeated someone who was clearly far stronger than her. She had won, but in some way, there were many questions left unanswered. Sabine would have to fight harder, she had to. To prove them wrong. She would become powerful without relying on anger. She swore to herself in that moment that no matter what she would reach new heights while denying the "Mother Demon" moniker given to her.
