Iara
The Pursuer
Profile:
Character Name: Iara
Nicknames: Little Cub (called this by her father), Forest Girl (pejorative, she hates this)

Sexuality: Pansexual
Race: Human
Age: 21
Birthdate: 10th of December, Age 1269
Personality:
Likes: Swimming, learning, exploring, nature, fighting, singing, fine foods.

Strengths: Shrewd, fast learner, empathetic, charismatic, creative, brave, relentless.
Weaknesses: Moody, short-tempered, vengeful, overprotective, loose cannon, stubborn.
Vices: N/A
Iara’s general demeanour gives off a vibe of power and confidence in herself, relaxed but without seeming lazy. Rather, she is secure of herself and who she is, and in fact makes a point of always being true to herself and refuses to conform to societal norms and expectations. This intense force of personality lends her charisma born from her confidence, but more than that, her empathy allows her to understand those around her and their emotions. She is unafraid of confronting her flaws, and is emotionally mature, making for an unexpectedly apt confidant.
Her curiosity and love of learning is another striking aspect of hers. Oftentimes, she’ll act on a whim to satisfy her desire to learn and is always looking for new experiences and opportunities to explore. This has made her grow into a shrewd and fast-learning young woman, and while she isn’t a genius, her intelligence and understanding of people enable her to be a distinguished detective.
This is not to say she is a careful planner, however. Though she is smart and an incredibly able detective, it’s not in her nature to scheme. More often than not, she acts in the moment and makes things up on the fly. A good tactician, but not a great strategist. No matter how intelligent she is, she is ultimately driven by her emotions, her heart, her love of people, and such things are inherently unpredictable. Her sporadic nature makes her difficult to work with, but incredibly adaptable.
Unfortunately, she feels her emotions strongly in all manners, including the negative ones. Her moody nature can cause issues and land her in trouble when she loses her temper and says the wrong thing to the wrong person, and her propensity to act in the moment can cause trouble to break out where there did not need to be any. Her anger, in particular, lends her a vengeful streak. She dedicates an inordinate amount of time to catching those who wronged her or her friends, and her relentless nature means she seldom gives up the chase. This dogged nature is a double-edged sword, as she often refuses to give up even when every sign points to doing so, and it can bite her if she crosses the wrong person.
She’s called “The Pursuer” for a reason.
Her reputation as a detective is that of a loose cannon, someone who acts on hunches and doesn’t follow protocol. While commended for her bravery, repeated breaches of rules and acts of recklessness keep her from higher positions, but she doesn’t mind. So long as she can do things her own way, she is satisfied.
And she would never give that up.
Appearance:
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Blue
Face Claim Name: Giovanna
Face Claim Origin: Guilty Gear
Iara is an absolute amazon of a woman, standing tall, proud, and strong. Her dark, smooth skin is well used to the hot sun, but it is taken care of properly and further enhances her appearance. Her frame is powerful and curvaceous, what one might call a swimmer’s body, tight muscles accentuating the impression of strength and not taking away from her feminine curves.
Her face, similarly, is tough but feminine. She typically wears a relaxed, but confident expression, and she might even come off as standoffish despite this not being the case. Her eyes are blue in colour, accentuated by her intense look, and her short, red hair is almost neat and tidy, but wild enough to not make her look like a prim & proper professional. Her facial structure is rather soft, a notable deviation from her harsh eyes, making a heart shape. Her nose is smaller than average and straight.
Iara’s choice of wardrobe tends to be rather liberal. She isn’t afraid of showing off her body, confident as she is in her appearance. Her typical choice of wear tends to be shorts and any assortment of tops. Even her work outfit has been modified to fit her tastes, much to the chagrin of the rule sticklers.
History:
Family: A few siblings within the Goia Tribe
Home world: Earth
Starting planet: Earth
Home Town: Guarana Island
Iara is a woman of unlikely origins, born to the Goia Tribe on Guarana Island. As a young girl, she was happy and lived a peaceful life. Although most women stayed within the tribal village, Iara was an athletic and active girl, one who desired to go out and explore, and so she was taught to hunt and fight. The new discoveries she made within the forest always excited her, but as she grew, she felt something was missing. She had charted the forest around her, investigated every nook and cranny, and documented every local animal, and yet she was still dissatisfied.
This all changed when the people from outside were first seen. They had had dealings with them before, but Iara had never seen them. Their odd mannerisms, their weird clothes, their foreign technologies that were akin to magic. It all fascinated her. Whenever they came by, she would convince them to give her a book to read or a little trinket to admire. Eventually, not even this sated her thirst for knowledge. She would start travelling to their cities, learning their customs. It was overwhelming but definitely worth the trouble.
Before long, she would eventually move to the big cities, intent on learning more from her time there. She focused on martial arts, learning to harness ki and elevating her skills to the next level while developing an interest in the more scholarly subjects. She was genuinely happy to be expanding her mind and improving her body and was eager to merely continue doing that, minding her own business. Despite this, however, she never neglected to visit her tribe. Some were reticent to receive her back, but that sentiment was never widespread.
Unfortunately, as is often the case, the big and powerful wanted to expand their land for industry. Eventually, they began to encroach upon the tribal lands, including the Goia Tribe’s. Appealing to the law did nothing; they were either utterly disinterested in helping or paid off by the very same companies.
In desperation, Iara would rally the tribes under one cause, aiming to forcefully kick out the invaders from their lands. However, despite the unified front and Iara’s own increased strength, they still couldn’t stand up to the invaders and their mercenaries, armed with advanced weaponry. They incurred heavy losses, including Iara’s own father. The grief and rage she felt at her utter helplessness awakened something within her; a spirit wolf, the manifestation of her spirit and the blood of her ancestors.
Determined to end these foes, Iara would return to the city, studying and training like never before. She learned to control the spirit wolf, and eventually became a detective who rapidly earned distinguishment through her dogged determination and shrewd nature. Most notably, however, it was her willingness to put herself and her name at risk to chase down the big foes. Her hatred for them eventually extended to all those like them; people stamping out others for their own goals.
Iara would swear a solemn oath, to dismantle every last one of these vile entities, through whatever means necessary.
Race Bonuses:
Energy Efficiency:
Humans are adaptable to many situations; and it's just as true with their Ki. This Racial allows the user to charge techniques twice as much with a single action once per thread.
Human Heart:
Humans are well known for their ability to push through odds some may call impossible, even more so when it's a fight for their very survival. Once per thread, if an attack would otherwise kill them, a human may double the power level strength of a single attack they make to counter the potentially lethal blow.
[This counter attack MUST target the one dealing the "Lethal blow"]
Roleplay Example:
The sun set on another cold day in Waterdeep, snow making the streets of the city white. Even as festivities were starting to die down, people still saw fit to appreciate the events and have fun with each other. And who could blame them? Any chance to be with friends and family was a chance meant to be taken.
Katsuno, for her part, wasn’t quite ready to do the same. She knew no one in Waterdeep, after all, being a foreigner in these lands. Having never left Kozakura in her life up until this point, she found all these traditions to be a bit odd, but she wasn’t about to bemoan anyone for enjoying themselves. She’d do the same in their position, after all.
That and good drinks were available in abundance. She’d sampled quite a bit of these Western beverages and was perhaps a little tipsy, judging by the tinge of red on her cheeks and somewhat slowed gait. Were she asked, she’d blame the drunkard she bumped into on all the drinks she’d had, rather than him coming out of her blind spot.
And that was unfortunately what happened. Absolutely hammered, a man stumbled out of a bar and straight into Katsuno. She hardly budged, but the man tripped and fell face-first into the snow, to which Katsuno snorted in amusement. Big mistake. Even as he struggled to get up, the man was already angry, trying to pick a fight with her.
“‘Ey! You think you’re hot shit, huh!? Lemme show you what *burp* happens when ya mess with people!” Though likely intended to intimidate, his very obvious slurring coupled with the fact that he could barely stand made him look like a non-threat. This, coupled with the fact that he was noticeably shorter than the pink-haired samurai made for quite the mismatch. The drunk man didn’t seem to care, though.
Katsuno sighed. It seemed drunkards looking for fights were a universal problem; fortunately, she was experienced in the art of disarming and talking down these types. Raising her one arm in an appeasing manner, she tried to calm him down.
“Look, friend, I’m sorry. I didn’t see you coming out of there. My depth perception is a bit messed up, see?” She pointed to her eyepatch. She hoped her non-confrontational tone and eyesight deficiency made him back down.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t entirely the case. The man seemed to ignore what she said entirely, choosing instead to get up in her face and glare at her, and considering his state, she wasn’t terribly intimidated. In fact, she felt kind of awkward. A wave of second-hand embarrassment washed over her as she stared at him, hoping he’d just walk away.
By the gods, this was embarrassing!
