“Yuri Alarian. Powerful fixer, known to have operations in most major cities, known for being one of the go-to men for criminals looking for a job, and has a lot of men working under him. His own power is negligible, but the presence of dozens of armed men make direct confrontation risky due to collateral damage. He also has the protection of higher-ups in the police force. Time has made him arrogant, complacent. Tracing his operatives and mercenaries who contact him, tracking him was simple.”Iara walked with a purpose. So much so that the people of Satan City subconsciously made way for her as she moved towards her objective. Iara had been on Yuri Alarian’s tail for quite some time, and she knew that he knew this. However, powerful as he was, he didn’t seem to care that some lone woman was gunning for him. She would show him that he should care. But there was another variable. Another woman who had also been on Alarian’s tail, and she was beginning to come up more and more. She had even busted an operation before she had the opportunity to investigate it! That really rubbed her the wrong way, no matter the intentions of this lady. “People who talk to her know her as Atsuko. Fancies herself a knight in shining armour, and has the strength to back such a claim. Not used to the mercenary line of work; she has an inability to cover tracks and frequently refuses payment. Avoids killing, and has some contacts in law enforcement, so we turn a blind eye to her.
But now she’s butted into my investigation. Annoying.”“Tch.”Iara expressed disdain as she slipped into an alleyway. It was long, mostly dark, but suspiciously clean. At the end of it, an empty lot save for a garage entrance to a much larger building, and two men hanging around having a smoke. As she approached, they began eyeing her up. Despite seeming relaxed, they appeared ready, subtly professional. Alarian had good protection. But not good enough. The guards didn’t even have time to react. One moment, they saw this detective waltzing up to them, the next, they were knocked out at the same time. Iara heaved a sigh as she lowered her fist, looking to her spirit wolf who had handily knocked out the other one as well. A clean move, and she doubted those inside were made aware. But she couldn’t head in yet. She needed to wait for this knight to show up and have a chat with her. She had reason to believe she would show up at any moment if she followed the same trail she did. Leaning on the wall, she would heave a sigh. Why did things need to be complicated? Atsuko

[Thread PL: 311] [Suppressed to 5] The first thing to round the corner into the alleyway was a man in a suit; far from looking like a businessman or some high up 'nobility'. Rather, it was the sleazy kind of suit style used by goons and thugs on the street when they wanted to show how "organized" they were. Yakuza, Mafia -- you know the types. Normally that might be a cause for concern for Iara; or maybe it was just one of those things she would sigh at before finishing the fight in short order. But there was something off.
This guy wasn't walking into the alleyway normally, he looked like he was scared out of his mind, and doing whatever it took to get himself out of this mess. It wasn't too hard to see why once the next thing rounded the corner; a woman armored like a Knight from head to toe, following close behind him. Despite how tense he seemed, she didn't even have a weapon drawn. Hell, you couldn't sense power from her beyond the average that you could sense out of any Human right now.
But rumors spread quickly, and there was a very good chance that he got a firsthand example of exactly how strong she was earlier. Eventually the pair comes to a stop at a garage entrance, and two poor saps that already had someone else get to them. Nervously, he points at the garage entrance." I-... In there. It looks like there might already be trouble." The Knight calmly steps ahead of him to get a better luck. Then she turns back to him, as she reaches a hand out to him, he flinches. But all she does is give him a pat on the head." Good boy. Keep your nose clean now." With that, she gestures for him to get out of here, and he immediately starts running, damn near tripping over himself more than a few times. That out of the way, she returns her attention to the entrance... And the power that she could immediately pick out as the only thing "in her way". Being this close allowed her to confirm it, there was indeed a warrior here, and it looks like they had a beef to pick with this 'fine establishment as well.
The Knight waits for a moment to see if they will show themselves. Presuming if they do, she then finally addresses them properly." I see you've already started. And it seems as though you were waiting for someone." A decidedly feminine voice from underneath that helmet, delivering words with a calmness that few could match when walking into the kind of situation she was walking into. Iara

Iara heard them coming before she saw them, or more specifically, she heard Atsuko coming. The clanking of armour was heavy on her ears, and she perked up. Seems like this knight wasn’t afraid to face the bigger leagues, after all. Shooting them a sideways glance as they came into the alley, she could see that Atsuko was accompanied by a suited man. Mafia-type, organised crime. He looked scared out of his mind, however, and she had little doubt that the armoured woman behind him had a lot to do with it. She continued to maintain her position, leaning on the wall as Atsuko unceremoniously shooed off the criminal. She’d have to make a mental note of him later… When she was finally addressed, Iara came off the wall and walked into full view, approaching the knight in shining armour and stopping within 5 metres of her. She stared at her for a few moments before speaking. “I’m indeed waiting for someone, Miss Atsuko.” She started with the woman’s name, trying to elicit a reaction from her, “I’d like to speak to you regarding Yuri Alarian. I’m sure you’re quite familiar with his name already.”Grabbing her badge from her hip, she would hold it up to Atsuko, opening it to reveal her identity before putting it back in her pocket. “I am Detective Iara. I’ve been investigating this case for several weeks now, and finally have an opportunity to arrest Alarian.” She twirled her hair as she spoke, “However, your presence in this case has proven to be…” She inhaled, then spoke with an exhale, “disruptive.”“Regardless of your intent, your involvement has lost me several opportunities to arrest and interrogate important individuals. There are reasons us detectives don’t appreciate others butting in to our cases, and this is just one of the many reasons. You simply don’t have the expertise and training necessary.”The taller woman crossed her arms. Iara was quite obviously miffed at this knight for giving her so many headaches, harsh blue eyes seeming to look straight through Atsuko’s helmet. She then sighed, her visage taking a softer look. “But at the same time, it would just be poor form for me to condemn someone trying to do good. I’m not unreasonable, Miss Atsuko, so I have an offer: we will work as partners. You’re clearly quite powerful, despite your attempts at hiding it, and I know you won’t stop beating up criminals just because I tell you to. I certainly wouldn’t if some copper came at me telling me to stop.”She would step forward, extending her hand for Atsuko to shake. For the first time, Iara wore a smile, relaxed and friendly. “So, what do you say?” Atsuko

Well, this woman was certainly all business, and got straight to the point; she felt as though Atsuko would disrupt the matter at hand, whether intentionally or otherwise. Especially from lack of training. The Saiyan crosses her arms, but considers this for a moment. " I typically only let them go if they surrender, especially after directing me towards a bigger target. Such as the one that ran for his life back there." She then calmly gestures with her thumb back down the alleyway. The meaning being pretty clear. " I know he won't lightly go messing around on the wrong side of things after the beating I gave his friends. I also ensured that the authorities would be able to take them in safely." She countered, just as calm as before. Eventually Iara softens up and admits that she didn't expect Atsuko to just give up and walk away either. " Hmm... This would be my first time working with someone else. I'm not opposed." The Saiyan begins her response to the offer. " And perhaps you can teach me what it is that I might be doing wrong. I was under the impression that I was doing good work, especially given what most Officers have to say after the latest catch I bring in." Fortunately, Atsuko seemed like a reasonable enough individual. And it was true enough that even if she didn't rope in every single person from a given group, she tended to nab the biggest hitters and put them in a cell. Or at least, on the path to a cell.
In any case, she extends her hand and returns the gesture of the handshake. " I'll follow your lead." Iara

Iara frowned; it seemed Atsuko was more naïve than she initially thought, judging by her expectations she had of the criminal that fled. “These types are used to this, Miss Atsuko. They come in and out of jail like a revolving door and they’ve done it all their lives. You’ll forgive me for doubting your claim that he’ll reform, especially when it comes to his sort. In their circle, leaving isn’t such a simple matter.”The detective was quite used to catching the same criminals at this point, and it showed in her somewhat cynical eyes. Hers was not a look of someone who held hope that they’d become better and leave crime behind. Things were never that simple. Not in Iara’s world. She sighed as Atsuko continued to speak. The run-of-the-mill officers didn’t truly understand the intricacies of investigation and crime-fighting. Tutting, she would shake her head. “Oh, honey, if only things were simple like that.” She began, “Beat cops are like attack dogs. They don’t have the training that we detectives do, and we’ve butted head times aplenty. You see, these criminals are like rats; cunning, evasive, smart. You need to be shrewd and subtle to truly have an effect. If you get one rat, the rest will scurry off, never to be seen again, and they will eventually replace the one you got. You need to understand them and how they move, single out the important players, then swiftly remove them. They can’t grow back without structure to support them. The only reason we even got this close is because Yuri Alarian is arrogant enough to think that his protections will save him. We will show him that’s far from the case.”The woman paused, taking a moment before once again speaking. “But I’m sure you’re far more eager to deal with Alarian and his hired guns than you are to listen to me discuss the intricacies of detective work. So, shall we get to it?”Turning around and approaching the gate, she would touch it, taking a moment before turning back to Atsuko. “I smell gunpowder… and sweat.” She said that last one with a small bit of disgust, “Last chance to back out. We’ll be facing a lot of guns in there, so I hope your armour can take that punishment. Wouldn’t want to ruin your shiny gear, would we?” She gave her a small wink. Atsuko

" Used to this, you say?" , Atsuko queries. Then she looks down the alleyway. " Then that man was merely acting frightened beyond all reason? I must commend his ability to do so." Perhaps that sounded a little more sarcastic than intended. But Atsuko was moreso making the case that anyone that gets that terrified is probably going to consider getting out of Dodge. But perhaps Iara had far different experiences. Atsuko wouldn't be able to discredit it entirely, but she had a little more faith in people by comparison. She eventually returns her gaze to Iara." I suppose I have a sense of honor as well. It does not seem particularly sporting to strike someone who refuses to fight out of sheer terror, reduced to begging for mercy." Still, Iara did detail that a level of subtlety was useful, especially so that the criminals in question wouldn't start running and going into hiding. There might be some truth to that. The analogy to rats was one that she could grasp quite well. There weren't many in the Frozen North; but some pests are very persistent, and you need to surpass that persistence to deal with them." I suppose you have a point. However I tend to strike with a brutal swiftness that these types do not seem prepared for. Perhaps I can show you how I do things while we work together, as well." , the Saiyan replies, and now it was time to get straight to business.
Iara would approach the gate, and used what seemed to be enhanced senses to tell what lay in wait for them. The Saiyan closes her eyes, pin-pointing any powers that might be waiting for them on the other side... Or simply going about their business, if no alarm had yet been raised." No need to worry. They won't lay a scratch on me. Open the gate, I'll cover you." , The Knight said with confidence. Iara

"You'd think Kosho would be on patrol, but no, he's not. Why would he be? Do you honestly think the only two things he does in his life is patrol and training? No, of course not! Then, what is he doing right now? Well..."Kosho floated above Satan City slowly, monitoring the ground below for any suspicious activity, talking to himself as if it'll make any difference whether or not he voices his thoughts. "OF COURSE HE'S ON PATROL! THAT'S ALL THESE GUYS EVER MAKE ME DO THESE DAYS!! WHAT THE HELL!? CAN'T YOU GET ME TO DO SOMETHING MORE FUN THAN THIS!?"Kosho's frustration was notable, but since he was very far in the air and also in public, he lowered his frustration to a yell that was only audible to him. The situation he was in was truly aggravating, but he was in no position to oppose. This Saiyan chose to come to Earth to protect the Earth King, and if that required him to be on patrol, he had to do it. Of course, that doesn't mean he's any less frustrated about it. The Patch Saiyan dropped down to the top of a building and sat down with his arms crossed, anger fueling his soul. He gritted his teeth together, practically fuming with frustration. "Can't believe they can't find anything better for me to do! How about I take out a gang that's causing trouble for the government, or raid a terrorist airbase, or something? Anything less boring than this stupid activity!"Quickly standing up again, Kosho was right about to send his fist into the building below him, but stopped himself beforehand and seized control of his movements. Unbeknownst to him, his irises were yellow. "At least gimme something to punch, dammit!"After he let his last bit of frustration out of him, Kosho sat back down in pretzel formation. His eyes reverted back to their normal state, as well. Not only does he not know that his eyes were yellow just now, he also doesn't know what it means. It's a secret even he doesn't know he has. The Patch Saiyan sighed and scratched the back of his head, subsequently fixing his headband a bit. "Well, ain't no use complaining about it now, I guess. I'll focus on meditating and tryna find any energy signatures that seem outta place."He then closed his eyes and focused. Meditation was a part of his training regimen that he just started to implement. Kosho wasn't very fond of it since it wasn't any physically exciting activity, but if he thought about it for the sake of training, he'd be able to withstand it. The Saiyan continued meditating for a couple minutes, and then picked up an energy signature that was quite different from normal Earthlings'. It was much higher, so it seemed out of place. Snapping out of his mediation, he looked in the direction of the energy signature, lowered his own, and took off flying. "There."When he finally reached the area of the Ki, Kosho realized immediately this was something worth tailing. He landed on one of the buildings to look down over the garage entrance and tried his best to stay out of sight. There were two individuals on the ground there, with some unconscious bodies on the floor as well. One was a red haired lady, relatively tall. The other was... "Atsuko. Huh, wonder what she's doing here."Kosho whispered to himself, smirking after seeing such a familiar...armor. Her energy seemed a lot weaker than he last remembered, so he figured she must have been suppressing it. He didn't know exactly what was going on here, but he also figured that if Atsuko was meeting with this woman, then it was for something good. For now, he decided to stay atop the building and watch over them, just to see what happens next. If they move, he'd have to move with them.

Outfit: Detective Uniform Thread PL: 60
“Oh, I’m sure he was terrified.” Iara clarified her point, “But criminals, the important ones anyway, won’t stop because of a scare. The risk of injury and death is ever-present, just like it is with us.” Suddenly, however, Iara furrowed her brow, “... But it would be arrogant of me to just dismiss your philosophy, and I’ve been called cynical on more than one occasion… I suppose time will tell who reality favours.”As Iara prepared herself to bust open the door, she suddenly heard something. Her reaction was visible, freezing and moving her head towards the sound. That thump… did someone land on the roof? Tuning in to the sound, she thought she could hear someone whispering. Were they talking to someone? Frowning, she honed her ki sense. There was, in fact, a person up there. “We have unexpected company.”That was all she said to Atsuko before jumping up and landing on the roof with a significant ‘thud’, behind the eavesdropper. Standing up from her crouched landing, she shot a gaze at the newcomer that dripped of suspicion. Garbed in a gi, with a tail, and not looking shifty enough to be some sort of crook. She didn’t let up her suspicious look, however. “Spying on law enforcement… that makes you look rather suspicious, don’t you think?” She began straight out the gate with an accusation. If he were innocent, it would probably be made obvious as soon as he opened his mouth. He didn’t seem like a good liar… or a good thinker, “Do explain what you’re doing. Oh, and don’t dally. I have a meeting with someone I’ve just been dying to see, and I wouldn’t want to miss him.” Atsuko Kosho

The Saiyan nods calmly as Iara makes her case. " You may have a point. But there's still a difference between a warrior and a thug. That man was nothing more than a thug." , she replies, still as calm as ever." For you and I, it's easy to disregard danger to do what we must. But a thug merely acts tough, and picks on the weak. Set them against something they can't handle, and they tend to get scared straight. I don't expect him to become a saint overnight. But I doubt he'll be doing anything untoward for quite awhile." , the Albino Saiyan adds, seemingly satisfied with the outcome in regards to him.
Still, Iara did admit that it would not be fair for her to dismiss Atsuko's philosophies. That in turn prompted the Knight to nod. " Indeed. We each have our own way of doing things. Perhaps you have valid points, and I will learn more of what I need to know as a result of all of this." Either way, it seems as though she was keeping an open mind. While Iara seemed set in her ways, she was at least being respectful. So long as they could maintain civility, this shouldn't be anything all that bad to get through. That being said... The Detective seems to have heard something, and the Saiyan did too, it was pretty quiet here so it wasn't that hard to pick out the distinct sound of someone landing.
Plus there was an energy signature, about double the normal average. Low enough for most people to write off, but high enough for the Saiyan to be curious. Especially since Iara was already heading up there. The Knight takes a very casual flight up and merely floats in front of the two of them on the roof." It's okay. This is Kosho. He's a strong warrior, and I trust him." , Atsuko stated to Iara." Hey, Kosho. We're about to raid a den of criminals. Want in?" , the Knight then offers. Iara Kosho

For a little, it seemed like Atsuko and the other individual down there were discussing something. It was only for a very short amount of time, but Kosho couldn't really tell what they were talking about. Of course, that short moment was up, and he noticed that they noticed him. Smiling nervously and raising an eyebrow, the Saiyan from Patch let a little sweat droplet fall from his head. Heh...crap. Well, it's not a bad thing, I guess. He wasn't sure exactly how they were able to figure out he was there, especially the Earthling. It was obvious she didn't trust him. Kosho couldn't really blame her, though. Who wouldn't be suspicious of the person who had been spying on them a few seconds ago, and got found out as soon as they started? It was unfortunate for Kosho that he couldn't come out at a later time to make a cooler entrance, but it is what it is. It was probably better this way, that he introduced himself beforehand.
Atsuko stood up for Kosho right off the bat. He definitely owed her for that one. Continuing off what Atsuko said to the Earthling, he put a hand to the back of his head and scratched it a bit. "Yeah, Atsuko and I go a ways back. I'm a Saiyan from Patch, and I'm actually a part of the military there." Before answering Atsuko, he also made an effort to apologize for any misunderstandings to the Earthling. Bowing his head a little and putting one hand up, he gave his best smile to the red-haired woman. "Sorry about setting you off a little. I was put on patrol here (again) and I was doing some meditation, when I sensed your energy and came straight over here to see who had such a high power level. I wasn't tryna do anything to mess with you, or anything else like that."
Kosho redirected his attention to Atsuko. What she stated was very brief, but from what both the law enforcer and Atsuko had said, he was able to piece together a little bit of what was going on here. The red-haired woman and Atsuko were about to raid a den of criminals, and it seems the red-haired woman had something personal with a criminal here. It could prove to be dangerous. Getting all the help they can get didn't seem like a horrible idea at all. Plus, having two Saiyans on a squad never hurt anyone. This would count for Kosho's patrol. Slamming his fists together, the Saiyan let out an excited whistle and replied to Atsuko. "You bet I want in! I hate doing patrol, anyway. A lotta times, nothing really happens, so this would be a nice change of pace. If you guys don't mind adding some more Saiyan firepower to your team."
