Motet Oratorio
No Title Yet
Profile:
Character Name: Motet Oratorio
Nicknames: None
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Vaneerasexual
Race: Brenchian
Age: 16
Birthdate: Age 1,274
Personality:
Likes:
[*] Vaneera
Her top like. Nothing else compares.
[*] Games
Things like Tag, Hide and Seek, stuff like that. She enjoys it to such a degree that it often gets incorporated into her combat -- largely due to her upbringing.
[*] Singing
Motet has a penchant for singing, and practices it in her spare time. But there's only one thing that she likes more than singing -- and that is singing with Vaneera.
Dislikes:
[*] Anyone mean to Vaneera
It goes without saying, if you're mean to Vaneera, or it sounds like you're being too critical of her -- or even on the opposite extreme, you're getting a little too friendly with her... Motet isn't gonna like you very much.
[*] Sourpusses
Or people that like to spoil her fun. She enjoys her games! So what if she's "erratic" or "totally batshit" according to their standards? She's not hurting anything unless Vaneera says so!
[*] Conflict with her Family
Some of this has resulted thanks to Vaneera's intervention; and for a variety of reasons Motet dislikes her own family, -- or at least having conflict with them.
Strengths:
[*] No Consequences!
Motet views life and all of it's struggles as one big game, and that people will just 'respawn' after a given amount of time, herself included! This leads to her being incredibly unpredictable in battle and nigh unstoppable and unreasonable.
[*] Empowering Voice
Motet's singing proves to be more than just a hobby. Often times it serves as an inspiration to morale, for herself or for others. But it is made most potent when she is able to combine her efforts with Vaneera.
[*] Adapts Quickly
In the few instances where she can listen and learn -- she does it extremely well. It usually takes Vaneera's involvement, though.
Weaknesses:
[*] No Consequences?
The double-edged sword to her upbringing. While it makes her something of a perfect combat machine, it also grants her a childlike naivete and ignorance of everything around her. She'll also see nothing wrong with an otherwise completely suicidal task.
[*] Heavily Reliant
Tied to her upbringing, Motet is very aimless, very lacking in direction. While it doesn't really bother her; she'd just focus on whatever game or thing catches her interest at the time -- it means that she's especially reliant on others to provide guidance to her.
[*] Loyal To One
Undying loyalty is generally considered a great thing, and it's certainly a strength in a lot of ways; but Motet practically refuses to listen to ANYONE. Even if they're giving her good and sound advice that would be pretty helpful to her. She gets her mind set on something and that's that -- unless Vaneera says otherwise!
Vices:
Motet is a shining example of childlike innocence. To a fault, really. Because of how her mother raised her, her perspective of the world is horribly skewed. This leads to a dissonance when dealing with her. Most of the time she's just a normal young girl, energetic, bit of a handful. But nothing unusual. The problem lies in the fact that this persists through situations that just aren't befitting of it.
Such as in combat, she views the entire thing as a game, and that killing scores points, and that it's all okay because they just "respawn later". In a lot of ways it makes her the perfect soldier that has a morale that can't be broken. Even losing the game just means she has to try again later and play better.
It also allows her to commit cruelty to an unusual level of casualness. But it's not exactly that Motet is evil; she IS capable of learning, and absorbing the lessons given. But it's an uphill battle because she was raised this way for so long. If given a solid enough argument however, it is possible for her to change her ways.
... The only downside being, she would only be able to accept it from Vaneera. The reason being that Motet has an undying loyalty to her. If Vani says it's good, then it's good! If it's bad, then it must be bad! While Motet might protest a bit, especially if it's something she doesn't understand, she does try to trust Vaneera. In her mind, no one has been nicer to her, not even in her own family.
She's sad to see her family and Vaneera at odds. But... She would follow Vaneera no matter what, and no one else can change that.
Appearance:
Height: 5'2" (157cm)
Weight: 110lbs (49.8kg)
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Yellow
Face Claim Name: Toga Himiko
Face Claim Origin: My Hero Academia
Motet stands at a modest height of 5'2", and a weight of 110lbs, both of which bring attention to the fact that she is still a young girl. Everything about her is the picture of youth, from her messy blonde hair to her silly grins. Motet is almost always seen with a smile on her face, even when fighting someone else! The only time this changes is when something makes her mad; TRULY incensed.
Her gentle, if sometimes contradictory face filled with joy will then be replaced with a deathly stare and focus. Her already animalistic fighting style turns into a force of nature, honed and tempered into a perfect killing machine.
Her favorite clothes conjure up the image of a schoolgirl, and she positively loves how cute it is! So much so that she'll even take it into battle, and merely add gear on top of it. One such example is her mask and neck cover. Either way, her yellow eyes are almost always visible, and at times of emotional turmoil or intensity, it seems as though they carry a glow...
History:
Family: Father: Rockfell Oratorio, Mother: Morrigan Oratorio, Brother: Beatra Oratorio, Sister: Nova Oratorio
Home world: Planet Brench
Starting planet: Planet Brench
Home Town: Brenchian Citadel
Motet was born into the Oratorio family, her parents were Rockfell and Morrigan Oratorio. Rockfell was a naturally stoic individual, and his involvement in raising the children that he had -- Motet included -- was minimal. He was certainly a present figure, but the one that had the most influence in raising them into who they are now was none other than Morrigan. She repeated her steps with each child born into her lineage. She set out with a specific goal in mind; to raise them to be the perfect weapons to her cause.
Beatra, Nova, and Motet were all subject to this upbringing. The lessons imparted to them were to teach them that life and everything that happens in it was just a game. One big game that they could play, and it was their job to win it. Morality was mostly removed from the picture, telling them things such as "people just respawn after they die". Morrigan preferred to keep them very childlike, and yet receptive to her commands and wishes.
The end goal was to make it difficult, if not impossible to turn them against her, or to undo the upbringing they had been placed under. Motet started off as a normal child, even by Brenchian standards. But as she grew older, her childlike view of the world and beyond remained. This made some of her interactions with other people... Rather interesting. On a case by case basis, she never really hurt anyone unless they tried to "stop her fun", or unless she was ordered to by Morrigan.
However, there was one person that she got along with really well, and never tried to hurt -- sometimes even to Morrigan's chagrin! That was Vaneera. It's difficult to pin-point what had "clicked" in Motet's mind at that point in time, but they had a genuine friendship. However, her childhood friend's best efforts to instill a more logical and reasonable way of thinking never seemed to make much of an impact. Motet seemed to be too far gone as a result of her Mother's lessons.
Whatever the case was, Vaneera never gave up on her. At young ages, both of them got involved within military careers and operations. Motet always swore that she had the most fun when she was running the same missions as Vaneera! Suffice to say, Morrigan took notice of this, along with their longstanding relationship... It made things complicated, as she wanted something very specific out of her daughter. Vaneera placed that all in jeopardy.
Every now and then, Morrigan would give Motet "Secret Missions", tasks that she wasn't to notify anyone else of -- not even Vaneera! Usually, these missions were excessively dangerous. But Motet's wild and unpredictable nature always saw her through each one. However, things truly came to a head as a result of a large-scale rebellion on Planet Brench. Somehow, this force had gained massive traction, support and funding. And they were set to win the war for the Brenchian Citadel.
The defensive forces were outnumbered and outgunned. Conventional tactics would no longer work to seize the day, and it seemed as though all would be lost. Morrigan once more organized a secret mission for Motet to act out. Her orders were simple, she was to deliver a bomb to a critical enemy location, and then detonate it. Motet was all too happy to accept the task and set out to see it through.
However, she had been lied to. Morrigan never intended for Motet to simply drop the bomb off and then detonate it from a safe distance. She knew that the enemy would recognize Motet as a major part of their forces, and thus would assume that they would never place her at risk... The bomb was set to go off as soon as Motet was in the right location. The girl fought her way through the chaotic battlefield with her usual glee and energy.
And just as she closed in on her target, a massive explosion rings out. A huge fraction of the enemy forces were caught in the blast, and it would now be incredibly difficult to hold this point for them; as for Motet, she barely survived the explosion, and began to drag herself on to slaughter the remaining foes in her way. What changed this whole situation around was the timely appearance of a single allied figure.
Clad with a red cloak and hood, and moving with a previously unseen speed and ferocity. This red-cloaked figure tore through everything standing in her way as if they were little more than annoyance that she wanted to swat away in as short of an order as possible. And just as suddenly as they had appeared, the fighting had drawn to a close. The cloaked figure walks over to Motet, and begins to help her.
As Motet's senses come back into focus, she's able to identify just who it is; Vaneera. Needless to say, she had a lot of questions about what just happened. For Motet, something changed. She didn't view Vaneera in the same way as she did before. Now, it was like she was in the presence of a true Hero. She had never seen anyone fight like that before! It was amazing!
So when Vaneera began to ask what happened, Motet saw no reason to keep it secret anymore. While her version of the events was prettied up from how it actually sounded, her friend was nonetheless able to piece together what happened. Thanks to Vaneera's own efforts on the battlefield, and the assistance from her own Squad, they managed to put an end to the Rebels. A good number of them surrendered after everything that occurred, not wanting to test their luck any further.
Which left one final thing that happened, as Vaneera and Motet returned to camp... Vaneera accused Morrigan of acting with treasonous intentions, and was going to personally see to her trial. Motet didn't quite understand why all of this was happening, and when she asked why, Vaneera gave her an honest response.
"Do you trust me?", was what she said.
Motet didn't even hesitate in her answer. Ever since, she's become a part of Vaneera's Squad. While she doesn't particularly hold the other members in very high regard, she respects what "Her Vani" has to say, and doesn't harm them. Things with her family had gotten pretty rough after all of that, but she was happy as long as she was with her Hero.
And this was just the start of Motet's story!
Race Bonuses:
Flash Strike:
The renowned speed of the Brenchians can also be reflected within their attacks. Perceiving their movements can be like trying to track little more than a blur, and as a result it is more difficult to dodge their attacks. With this Racial, Brenchians reduce the effectiveness of the enemy's dodge by 10%.
[Cannot fall below 5%] [Example: If it is a 50% PL Dodge, then it would become 40% PL Dodge]
Flash Step:
Once per thread and only for a single turn, a Brenchian can utilize legendary speed, granting them four actions for that single specified turn instead of the usual three actions. Bear in mind that the usual requirements such as Ki Cost apply.
Roleplay Example:
Motet moved about the mansion like a little shadow. Her training from mother came in handy for this, this game was fun! All she had to do was avoid the sight of the guards and that was easy! She'd avoid them until she got into the princes room.
That prince. that dumb, stupid head meany of a prince. He thought he deserved Vani. He thought Vani was his just because of that dumb arranged marriage! Well let's see how much she wanted to marry her Vani after he respawned back to zero! Lost all that progress... hehe she coudnt wait to see his face as she ruined him, that would show him for trying to take her Vani!
the room was now right in front of her. How would she get in? That was easy! their little trophy wasnt protected well at all, all she had to do was burn the keyhole with some of her ki and she was able to slip right in... ah! He was fast asleep. fast asleep. resting... dreaming of how he'd use her vani when they were married...
"Bye bye say hello to my knife you horrible jerk of a brat!"
The prince woke up, and tried to shout but Motet was quick-all it took was one swift slash and he was silenced, littlery- though he still breathed. No this wasnt the end. Motet wanted him to hit the rockfall and disappear real hard! that's what he deserved, that would make him regret trying to take her Vani.
And that was in fact just what the little 7 year old did. With glee she dragged the prince up through the chimney and off the roof into the night. Later on she did in fact toss hin on the cliff so he would be forced to face his reset.
Oh? Your wondering about an investigation? Of course their was one. But Motet was trained well, even at this age. Their was no evidence of her plight. a combination of her speed and chosen attire for the mission meant no prints of note were left behind. Motet was never caught and the prince played the price for trying to take her Vani, as a bonus no one dared try to wed Vaneera after that point. Of course Vaneera asked her if she knew anything about what happened a few times but all Motet ever did in response was give a sweet smile and say:
"Don't you worry about that now~"
