Asynia Lumis
The Ray of Hope
Profile:
Character Name:Asynia Lumis
Nicknames:Ray of Hope (by most Salamanders)
Gender:Female
Sexuality:Pansexual
Race:Hybrid: Salamander/Elfen hybrid (light) [Salamander Dominant]
Age: 24
Birthdate: January 11, 1266
Personality:
Likes:
[*]Tea: A nice, relaxing cup of tea keeps her going and is a good stress reliever. Earl gray is her favorite flavor.
[*]Science: Asynia loves studying and discovering new things. She’s very dedicated and passionate about her work.
[*] Yggdrasil: Asynia is a devout religious believer in the glorious light of Lemuria. She has entirely embraced her supposed destiny as “the ray of hope” that has been thrust upon her.
[*]Books: She spends her downtime doing quiet things, such as immersing herself in books.
Dislikes:
[*]Darkness: Not only is it the natural enemy of her element in Salamander culture, but darkness also signifies the coming of their most troubled age. A recession to the dark ages is the greatest fear of the race as a whole.
[*]Being disrespected: A very quick way to get on her shit list is to not respect her accomplishments and high status.
[*]Idiocy: As someone who values intelligence as the most important trait to have, she hates those who show none of it.
[*]The Yggdrasphere: A group that stands in the way of her bringing salvation to Lemuria. To her, their anti-progressive ways are holding her back from her true potential. She hates them for not employing her, despite her talent.
Strengths:
[*]Devoted: Asynia is passionate in all aspects of life. Work, beliefs, she puts her all into everything and doesn’t second guess herself.
[*] Intelligent: Asynia has been praised as one of the smartest of her generation on Lemuria, despite being only 24.
[*] Ambitious: Asynia aspires to be the one to restore Yggdrasil to its former glory. She has confidence in spades.
[*] Level-Headed: Asynia rarely loses her composure. Even when she’s annoyed or angered, she rarely lets it rattle her. It isn’t easily visible when she gets irritated either.
Weaknesses:
[*] Sense of Entitlement: While she works hard on training and her research, Asynia truly believes that she is the one meant to save her planet. As such, she views herself above most other people, and that they should accommodate her needs.
[*] Ruthless: While she isn’t totally heartless, her absolute belief in her religion makes her capable of doing anything to accomplish her goal. If she ever has a sliver of a doubt, she simply weighs her decision against the lives of the entire Salamander race. As such, there isn’t much she wouldn’t hesitate to do in the name of Yggdrasil
[*] Stubborn: It is very difficult to convince Asynia that she’s wrong on an issue. In her mind, she’s right unless proven otherwise. It’s so extreme that people outside of Lemuria have called her “zealotic” sometimes.
[*]Lack of Emotional control: Even though she’s a master of suppressing her emotions, she’s more influenced by them than most Salamanders. It’s rare, but when she slips, her emotions become explosive. When this happens, her logical side takes a backseat.
Vices:N/A
Despite being a hybrid, her demeanor is almost exactly like her pure-blooded brethren on Lemuria. Calm, collected and composed. To an outsider that doesn’t know what to look for, they could easily mistake her for an android. Indeed, to many, she is a stick in the mud, a no-nonsense individual with no sense of humor.
Although among her own peers and her homeworld, she is viewed much more in a positive light. Her dedication, loyalty, and intelligence are all traits she has on a level that all Salamanders idealize to be. She takes pride in her people and loves her planet and her race.
Unfortunately, her empathy seems to only exist for her own kind. She views other races with indifference at best and contempt at her worse. To her, everything but her own people is expendable. The wellbeing of her race and people matter the most to her.
Appearance:
Height: 6'4
Weight: 210 lbs (the tail adds some weight)
Hair Color:Gray
Eye Color:Orange
Face Claim Name:Saria
Face Claim Origin:Arknight
Asynia is a tall woman with an average build. She has a spiky tail extending out from behind her. She has two horns growing out of her head. She has long, flowing gray hair, and bright orange eyes. She typically wears conservative clothing to protect her from the elements. All of her clothing is modified to be able to accommodate her tail. Her favorite color appears to be white, as she wears some amount of that color on everything she wears.
History:
Family: Mother: Nova Lumis. Father: Lyle Lumis
Home world:Lemuria
Starting planet:Brench
Home Town: Alfheim
Part 1: The beginning
Yggdrasil was a unique existence unlike any other. It was an energy source that emanated from Lumeria’s core. It had direct ties to the evolution of the Salamander species. As it grew in power, the more advanced they became in turn. Their very evolution was tied to this marvelous tree of light. And by researching it, more understanding of themselves as a species would come. They could unlock the secrets to ascending to further enlightenment. Or maybe even discover the legendary Breidablik, the paradise of eternal light. Thus entire family lines dedicated themselves to studying Yggdrasil. The Lumis’s were one such lineage.
Each family had their own way of researching and different ideas about how to accomplish their goals. The Lumis family were the most religious of the families researching Yggdrasil. In Age 900, Lyle discovered the world of Hegemon. There he discovered many groundbreaking things. There was a tribe that could manipulate light to their will! It was also home to a race called the Fae, who came from another dimension. The more he researched them, the more he became convinced that Hegemon was the key to salvation. Thus he put a plan into motion, one that would take 300 years to see to fruition.

Part 2: The founding of Veðrfölnir
Lyle was nothing if not ambitious. In order to further his own ascension to the Yggdrasphere. To do this, he planted the foundations of Veorfolnir. It steadily grew in influence to have followers who truly believed in its preachings. To them, the key to enlightenment was strengthening the light of Yggdrasil. If they strengthened the tree enough, they would be able to reach Breidablik. And the key to this was studying those who could control light.
Eventually, Lyle put the next phase of his plan into action. He sought out a Light Elfen in order to produce a Salamander who could control light. But not just any light Elfen. He desired one that came into being during one of their rites of nature. Those ones were naturally stronger than those who were born naturally. He desired that power for his purposes. It took some time, but he managed to woo a Light Elfen by the name of Nova. He promised her a land of eternal light, a promise that he did keep. Lemuria was likely the closest thing to a light realm that existed in the universe There on Lemuria, in the city of light, Asynia was born.

Part 3: Asynia
Asynia’s childhood was unique, to say the least. She was treated as a prophet by the Veorfolnir. Even by people not a part of her father’s religious group revered her. Nobody ever treated her as an equal: she was always looked up to by those within her age group. The only two people who didn’t treat her like that were her own parents. To her father though, she was only a means to an end. Most of his time with her was spent grooming her for her role as the prophet of Veorfolnir. The only positive interactions she had was with her mother, who did her best to raise her. Around Nova, Asynia was just a normal girl. Even to this day, she treasures those moments. Those were the only times when she felt just like anyone else. Not that she didn’t take pride in being the profit. But it was exhausting shouldering everyone’s expectations. It was nice to have one person treat her normally.
Outside of her mother, she threw away any slim chance of having normal friends. As the prophet, she worked harder than anyone to prepare herself for the day that people would need her. She studied every bit of text she could get her hands-on, digging into the secrets of the light of Yggdrasil. She trained herself in mind and body, always pushing herself to become better. She had talent, yes. But that didn’t mean she could afford to slack off. She believed the fate of her entire race was on her shoulders. She was further validated when the light Yggdrasil started to fade.
Her father called an emergency meeting of the Veorfolnir. The day of reckoning had come. Now Lyle was putting his plan into action. Veorfolnir would restore the light and lead the Salamanders to Breidablik. Lyle determined that Hegemon was the key. He planned on migrating all the Light Elfen to Lemuria, to give them a home of their own. His reasoning was that they would be able to banish the darkness and restore light to Yggdrasil. Furthermore, he told his congregation that he had reason to believe that the dimension the Fae came from was Breidablik. They would harness their abilities to reach there.
But Veorfolnir had to widen their influence first. They needed credibility to make things run smoothly, and the power to enact their plans should they need it. All of them were given various missions. Lyle entasked his daughter with going to Brench to try and win over the Salamander ambassador there, who had ties to the Yggdrasphere. They needed as much support as possible if they were to enact their plan. Lyle also planned on using the weakened PTO to his advantage. Without hesitation, Asynia headed out on her crusade. The moment she had been training her entire life had arrived: she would save the Salamander race and bring them salvation.

Race Bonuses:
Thousand Year Dedication:
In Salamander culture, it is almost second nature for those among them to dedicate a thousand years or more of their life towards one singular goal, often in the pursuit of scientific or academic progress. Those with this racial are no different, as they have chosen to dedicate their lives to the pursuit of martial arts mastery. With this racial you may choose ONE ability type at character creation to be your character's dedication choice; The ability type picked at creation will permanently earn double EXP! However, "Transformations" cannot be chosen as a type.
[Does not stack with other EXP multiplying bonuses]
Chosen ability type: Elemental
Force of Nature:
So deep is an Elfen's connection to nature that some claim they are capable of achieving a power far beyond their limits, a single technique that represents the most brutal storm, the greatest fires, the most scarring earthquakes, and the coldest of winters. When choosing Force of Nature, the user is given a special Technique based on their element, one that is capable of being charged up to use 70% of one's power level in exchange for draining 80 points of their Ki should they take the time to master it.
[Please refer to the Canon Techniques List to see which Technique this racial will grant you]
Roleplay Example:
In a flash, Tomina found herself in a strange arena. She looked up at the sky to see a dark, faintly lit sky filled with black clouds. The whole arena seemed to be just floating in an endless void, from what she could tell. This was quite the arena, although Tomina wondered if it would be able to endure the clash between the strongest warriors of two universes. She supposed so, since the Gods were the ones who set this whole tournament up in the first place. Well, as long as they could have good fights without the place completely crumbling apart, that was all that mattered.
Tomina completely disregarded her two other teammates as though they weren’t there. When it came time to fight she would do her best to get on the same wavelength so they could fight effectively. She wasn’t exactly going to start a conversation with either of them. Tomina also disregarded her opponents in the arena, at least for the moment. Her attention was aimed towards the bleachers, her eyes surveying the spectator area for the person she wanted to see the most.
Her heart stopped in her chest as she saw her there. She rubbed her eyes with both of her hands just to make sure that this wasn’t an illusion. Karen was indeed looking down at her, cupping her mouth with both of her hands and staring at her with shock. She looked exactly the same as she did when had died. Only now she had a halo over her head. Tomina opened a telepathic channel with her, speaking to her sister again for the first time in 8 years.
<Heh, you’re officially a saint now. I honestly can just picture you walking around with that halo over your head all those years ago. You haven’t aged a day Karen.>
Karen’s eyes widened further somehow, and she nearly jumped out of her seat. She lowered her hands down to the bleachers, grasping it like her life depended on it. She seemed to be trying to get a grasp on reality, much like her sister.
<It’s been 8 years, and that’s the first thing that you bring up? Well, I’ve been dead… you don't age in the afterlife. You honor me too much Tomina: I don’t deserve to be called a saint. How are you talking to me like this?>
Tomina rubbed the back of her head, giving Karen a sheepish grin. Anyone who actually knew her would probably wonder what stranger was inhabiting her body.
<Well, there's so much I want to say to you that I don't know where to start, you know? It’s a technique that I’ve managed to pick up. I’m glad I did though: it means that I can talk with you right now. I’ve missed you so much.>
<I’ve missed you too Tomina. I just wished that we could have met again under better circumstances.>
<Yeah…>
The grin faded away from Tomina’s face. The seriousness of the situation loomed over the both of them. While the reunion itself was one that they both welcomed, the circumstances behind it could not be ignored. Karen was the first one to break the silence.
<They told me what was going on when I got invited to spectate things. Is it true that our universe will be erased if we lose this tournament?>
<You heard that right. If we don't win this thing then there won't be anything left. Turns out we really screwed things up. Our mother's ambitions played a part in how things turned out. I can't really be that critical of her though: I eagerly carried out her orders>
Karen frowned over on the stands, looking down at her sister. Their mother's ambitions had known no bounds. She was determined on defeating as many enemies thar she could. Although her desire for war expanded beyond species that were sworn enemies.
<Speaking of mother, why didn’t you invite her instead of me? I’m glad you picked me since I’ve wanted to see you again after all these years. I was sure that you would have wanted to show off to her though. You’ve always worked so hard to live up to her name.>
Tomina didn’t respond to the question right away. Her mother was both someone she had admired and inspired to be. Although she couldn’t deny that her actions had placed them all in this horrible predicament. Many people and organizations had contributed to the current state of affairs in their own way, but Queen Lettis had pushed many people to become stronger then her to overthrow her reign. And the creation of these super powers had changed the power dynamic as a whole.
<I did think about inviting her here, especially since I know that you don’t like fighting as much as most Saiyans do. I certainly have come a long way since the last time she’s seen me, and I do want to do her proud. However as strong as I’ve become, both of Natto’s children have reached an unfathomable level of power. They’ve both taken after their father and managed to reach a peak never before seen. Our mother would be absolutely livid to see the both of them in action. Especially since one of them looks almost exactly like Natto.>
Karen giggled at that one, covering her mouth at one hand. Their mother was quite a terrifying figure when she was alive. Although since they were her children, they were able to see her a little bit differently then others. They were never in danger of being killed if she got annoyed at them for something. Which was how the both of them could find humor in imagining how infuriated she would be at Natto's Offspring for surpassing her and her bloodline once again.
<I don’t think you’d be wrong on that matter. She got in a foul mood just at the mere mentioning of his name. So to see his children reach… whatever form they’ve gotten to now would make her absolutely livid.>
Tomina chuckled at the thought of that. She respected her mother quite a bit, although it would have been mildly amusing to imagine her expression the moment Komatsu and Nasu revealed their true power. The moment of humor passed by very quickly though. She looked down at the ground, her arms hanging at her side limply.
<Picking her would have put me at further odds with the team. Many of us want to tear each other’s throats out already without bringing one of the most hated people to have ever existed as a spectator. Besides, the day will come when I will see her again. I have no doubt that I will go to hell when I die. There’s a good chance that might happen today. Besides, I wanted to see you one last time. Whether we win or lose, I probably will never see you again. I wanted to give you a proper farewell.>
Tomina closed her eyes, a sad smile appearing on her lips. Karen wouldn’t be able to see it from her vantage point, since her sister was keeping her head down still. Tomina’s voice solemnly echoed in Karen’s head.
<I’ve been bound for hell since the beginning Karen. I’ve slaughtered hundreds of people by the time I was 4. I treated you as nothing but a tool when you came to me for help. Even though I changed because of you, I still have done horrible things. Even though a large part of it was a means to an end to fulfil your dreams, I also had my own self interests at heart. I’ve kept on killing, took part in the leaching of energy of an entire planet to give myself more power. No Karen, there’s only one fate reserved for me in the end. Even if I did nothing but good for the rest of my life, it cannot erase my past sins. So I’ll do whatever it takes to fulfil your dying wish, without compromising my own beliefs.>
<Tomina…>
Karin did feel a little bit of happiness at the fact that Tomina was doing her best to fulfil her dying wish. Yet now with what she knew, a part of her wanted to tell her to just live her life happily so that perhaps one day she could end up in heaven. Yet she knew her sister was too stubborn once she made up her mind. She seemed to believe that she was beyond saving or any kind of redemption. She knew better then to argue with her on that: it was something that Tomina would have to realize on her own one day. So she put that aside to ask the one question that she had to know the answer to.
<Tomina, you told me that you had knocked Cabris out, at the very end. Yet I found him in Otherworld shortly after I arrived there. Why did you lie to me about that? You knew that he was just fighting for what he believed in. He was our teammate once, and you knew that. So why did you kill him?>
Tomina stiffened up at the question. She hoped that the subject never would come up. Of course Cabris would end up in Heaven. He had defected to the side that the Gods viewed more favorably. How else could one explain Tomoroko being allowed to exit the afterlife and the Kai's giving Komatsu and Chris access to the fusion technique to aid them?
<I’ll tell you after this is over. We’ll win, so you’ll get to know the answer within an hour. Going into that now would be detrimental right now. I’ve got to focus on the oncoming battles.>
<Alright… I believe in you Tomina.>
Tomina kept the mental link with her sister open so they could continue to talk to one another. For now, she focused on all the other people in the arena. As she expected, most of the people there she hated to one degree or another. Caesar, Komatsu, and Chris were on the very top of that hate list.
Cornatto while not as personal as the other 3, was still an Alliance Saiyan who had participated in the war which resulted in the death of the family (even though it was well deserved in the case of her mother). Cervez was the Anubian who had killed Carva. While she didn’t care for Carva as a person, the fact that he killed her the subordinate that she had worked so hard to mold was the same as chopping her arm off. While she didn’t know them specifically, she could sense that two members of the team she didn’t recognize were demons. So they probably had some connection to Nakiya, which put them on her hate list as well.
The only two people on her team that she didn’t hate were Nasu and Carva. And she was still mad at the latter for making a stupid move and going to Earth on his own, and then getting himself killed. Still, he had been selected to participate in the tournament of power, so he must have improved quite a bit. Tomina walked over to him, crossing her arms and looking him in the eye.
“I don’t know whether to impressed with you that you’ve made it to here, or pissed off that you disobeyed my orders and died. If you make it past the first round I’ll forget that you dragged Rensu along on a fools mission. He wouldn’t have done something like that if you hadn’t had convinced him to tag along, I’m sure of it. Nasu says you’ve improved quite a bit, and it those Gods think highly enough of you to give you a spot here. Don’t hold back Carva.”
With that being said, Tomina turned her attention to look over at the opposite team. They were an… interesting collection of individuals to say the least. Some species she recognized, such as the Crocolisk, Yardratian, Humongaloid, and the Konatsian were all familiar looking species that Tomina had encountered. Although things got strange from there. The one who wasn’t even bothering to hide their power in the slightest seemed to be an Arlian, although she had never seen one that big or powerful before. There was some kind of wolf creature, along with a giant metal being that not only she hadn’t seen before, but she had never sensed anything like them before. It would appear that this universe had some species that she had never encountered before.
Two people stood out to her right off the bat. The bizarre man in strange makeup, and what appeared to be… a triangle with an eye and a top hat. They all seemed more confident then all the others. That Arlian was arrogant, but it was obvious she was trying to force her authority onto others. Two of them were were beyond confident. Tomina grinned at the one who declared that he could destroy their universe single handedly. She wanted to confirm something with that one.
“Ehhhhh, destroy our entire universe? You know, you’re not as special as you think you are. Seriously, does obtaining the power of the God make one revel in their own arrogance? You’re welcome to try and us, if you wish. Unfortunately for you, we Saiyans have a lot a pent of rage to let loose on you demons. I can’t wait for that face of yours to twist in agony.”
Tomina of course didn’t know whether or not he had a God form. She was trying to get as much information out of him as she could. There was no mistaking that he was a demon though. His energy signature revealed that much. The triangle was a little more difficult to read. He was keeping his power very suppressed, but it was there. She had not missed the wink that he had thrown at some people up on the stands. Judging by the people around them, they were this Universe 4’s Gods.
<He’s acting as cocky as Caesar was around Lagerus… he must have a God form of his own then. He wouldn’t be that familiar with them otherwise. If he was one of the weaker ones, they would have blasted him apart for disrespecting them. He’s a bizarre creature too, so who knows what he’s capable of.>
They were then approached by the Konatsian, who inquired if there were a bunch of androids in their group. What she had seen of her, she actually kind of liked. She certainly was taking the tournament in stride if she was trying to hit on one of her teammates. Tomina threw a smirk in her direction.
“I take it that Saiyans don’t exist in your universe. It’s not like we’re mass produced machines. We Saiyans are a warrior race who live for battle. We train and hone our skills to become as strong as we can. As a result, most of the strong fighters in our universe have Saiyan blood in them. It’s only natural that the majority of us were picked for this event.”
Tomina walked over to the front of her group, looking at the person on the opposite team right in the eye. She was the only one bold enough to come over here so far, which already impressed the Saiyan hybrid. She called out to her so that she could hear her.
“Your team seems to be made up of many different races. I’ve never seen anything like that metal creature or that wolf over there. I bet you’ve got a diverse set of abilities. My name is Tomina. What’s yours, Konatsian?”
