Seeing the knight get so fired up about the idea of creating an obstacle course only served to make the young elfen girl even more excited about it in turn. The only thing that made her happier than inventing was when someone ELSE got excited about her inventions! There was an inherent thrill in seeing her creations affect others in a positive way. It seems the albino saiyan wasn't just excited for it, she WANTED this. It was going to be a ticket to helping her grow stronger!"You had better! It's gonna be the best obstacle course in the world! Adjustable to your skill level too!!!"Though Atsuko shared the sentiment that this trial had been disappointing easy, she did make a fair point: Clearing this so quickly meant they had far more time open to simply focus on the renovations this base needed. Even more than that, there would be more time to check out what they were working with to start out. The elfen inventor was absolutely going to be making a mental checklist of everything that was already here and everything it needed added on. She followed along behind the saiyan knight as the pair entered the generator chamber... It was just as incredible as everything else in this place, but perhaps even more so. The dormant crystal that sat at the end of the room was massive! It must have been the biggest gem stone anyone had ever seen on Earth, or at least the biggest the mechanic had ever seen. She gave a whistle."Imagine trying to make a wedding ring from that baby."Ayami watched in silence as Atsuko stepped up to the pedestal. It was obvious what had to be done. With the simple action of pressing the blue flame against the brazzier the entire facility hummed to life, soon silencing...Although the energy that was now flowing through this entire place was unmistakable. It shook Ayami to her very core just feeling it around her."Wow..."The pillars and obelisks that had been placed around the generator seemed to draw arcs of blue lightning from the gem, pulling energy and seemingly dispersing it. The young elfen girl took her notebook out again, flipping through pages at high speed before stopping on one, taking out a pencil and scribbling into it with reckless abandon. She was mumbling to herself the entire time about "power" and "co-efficient" and "stabilizers"...It was a bit hard to follow what was running through this girl's mind at any given time."The pool of water is probably to give it a good under current, and the pillars act as even distributors to keep the gem from overloading, but how does it send power on a circuit...? Probably hidden wiring, I'll have to try to pull up a floor tile later and check, maybe I can even boost the efficiency tenfold by adding...Yes....Yesssss...More distributor towers towards the back...Ahahaha, that's genius! These people were tech wizards!!!"The knight's words had fallen on deaf ears as the tinkerer was simply too enthralled by the inner workings of this generator room to notice...Up until she finally snaps out of it due to the saiyan's last words. Ayami shoots up to gaze at Atsuko, tilting her head a little."Huh? O...oh! Yeah we can go! I've gotten just about all I can gather from a cursory glance. I'm eager to see just what these knights cooked up for the rest of this place! It's probably a bit brighter too honestly. More...Cozy!"The elfen girl wastes no time bagging her notebook and pencil, giving the saiyan knight a smile and turning to leave. It was thankfully a short trip back from here, the entrance back into the base was only a few feet away after all! Ayami stepped back over the threshold, looking around to see how exactly this place had changed. Atsuko

Interesting, so Ayami could set it up to be adjustable to a person's skill level... That was exactly what the Saiyan needed. Because then it could serve as a training course for herself, and for her allies. " Go nuts with that, I want you to bring your very best for it." , she comments, encouraging the Mechanic to bring her A-game for that particular overhaul. This place was going to be used to house and train the greatest warriors that Atsuko could gather.
Still... She couldn't help but share the sentiments that Ayami had; this place was something else, and it felt even more special with the power back up and running. The Elfen wasted little time into jotting down her notes on how this all worked, coming up with her theories and investigations to perform later. Seeing her in action like this was kind of inspiring. This is what it was like to see a burning passion; the Knight could only match it with her drive for training.
Ayami apologized for getting lost in her own little world, to which Atsuko calmly shakes her head. " Don't worry about it. I'm glad to see you so motivated." , she replies.
A short trip from the Generator Room takes them back tot he main structure of the hideout; and the place looked far more impressive than before. Where before the lighting was dim, it was now comfortably lit up. Various pieces of machinery that seemed inert or simply more like static structures had now sprung into activity. The forge, for example, was now ready for use. The place looked nice before, but now it no longer felt like it was an abandoned building; strange as that sounded considering there was still a distinct lack of people.
But before it had given off that feeling of disrepair and neglect. This was more like what it was like in the golden days. Atsuko crosses her arms, taking in the new sights. " This place is looking a lot better already..." She then looks over to Ayami. " Now I want to see what you can do with it. You have free reign to investigate and make modifications. I'll help you out where I can, too." , she then states to the Elfen." I don't really have a technological mindset, so you might have to teach me for the more complicated things." , Atsuko then admits. Ayami

The albino saiyan gave Ayami full reign to go as wild with the obstacle course as she could. For Atsuko's sake this may have been a grevious error. For the elfen's sake it was a dream come true. The young inventor began to laugh mischievously rubbing her chin excitedly as a whole range of ideas and concepts flooded her mind. She was like a wild animal being let free in a zoo. her eyes sparkled with a terrifying aura..."Hoohoohoo~...Hooooh...I'm going to make a true nightmare of a course~...Yes, yesssss I can see it now!!! Kukuku~...My beautiful child will make everyone suffer~..."... Yes, telling Ayami to "go wild" may very well have been a serious mistake, but at least now there was no room for doubt: This invention was going to force the saiyan knight - And anyone else who used it for that matter, to their very limits. If ever there was going to be a better training device then now was the time! The elfen inventor was lost again, gone to her own little enclosed world where ideas burst forth from every seam...Up until the pair witnessed the changes to the main base. The terror that came from her mind faded away with the comforting lights of the newly repowered facility. A soft glow emanated from every corner, making this entire place look far more hospitable than it once had."This is fantastic!!! Now I can start improving everything!"And just like that, Atsuko had given the inventor free reign over the entire place. Well, she couldn't really improve it to it's fullest until she checked out every single place to see how they changed with power flowing freely. Her first stop was as could be expected: The forge. Ayami knealt down in front of the fire, reaching her hands out to feel the warmth. The fire was blue just like the flame they had used earlier to power the generator...How curious."Gonna have to come back here with a temperature gauge to see how hot this runs...Can probably fit it with even better piping and a steel door to improve the heat distribution. Really gonna cook that steel of yours once I improve it! With a few more gauges and a timer even a novice will be able to use this thing!"Stepping away from the fire place, the elfen tinkerer took note of a machine that had been dormant before...An auto-hammer! It was missing a few elements, but with some more ingenuity it could be improved further..."It's brilliant! An automatic hammer like this will take out the difficulty of manually hammering out impurities. But it does need a little more precision in the design...Adding a few steel pieces to the underside will allow it to hit specific parts rather than the entire thing. Placing some balancing weights will also help it hit harder, meaning we can work with more durable materials. Just add a pressure gauge and...Well I think it'll be perfect."Lastly the only thing this forge had for cooling was an empty tank which had a spiggot to pour water into it. But that was a little primitive compared to the rest of this set up...So the elfen got to work brainstorming! She took her notebook out and began to write down materials she would need, the entire tank had to go after all! It was gonna be completely replaced with something entirely new."Replacing this water tank with a freezer will allow for faster cooling and a more even distribution to the area which gets cooled. Add a gauge to read interior temperature and some valves to adjust the temperature lower or higher and we can perfectly cool any kind of tempered steel without risk of shattering it from rapid temperature changes..."And with that the forge had been taken care of. Next came the library. Though it was small and wasn't in the most need of improvements the young mechanic still had some ideas in store!"How about a computer to catalog and organize all of these works, plus even more? It'll save on space if you need more text in the future, and with a server installed in here you can pull from your library from anywhere in the galaxy! Pretty clever huh?"Finally she hurried over to the entrance...The entrance which needed more securing than a false wall with a easy to find switch. She got to work looking over every inch of the entrance, thinking of how best to proceed until it came to her!"I'll install and bury proximity alarms within a half mile radius around the base and hook them up to a monitor inside which will tell you which alarm was triggered and from what area! With an adjustment for size and weight the alarms won't trigger for little forest animals either! It's a brilliant security system that will let you prepare for anyone and anything! Add a solid steel door to replace the false wall, roll out a simple hatch covered in astroturfing over the cave entrance and suddenly it's even more hidden from sight than ever before!"Ayami also went over countless "Quality of life" upgrades, such as appliances for the kitchen, televisions for the bedroom and lounge, a security room for which to add the alarms to, and a cctv system placed in hidden spots around the outside of the base. It was a LOT to go over...But it was clear the elfen intended to assist Atsuko where-ever her knowledge lacked."You can count on me! I'll handle the technical aspects, you just help me with the heavy lifting!" Atsuko

Now, one might assume that the Saiyan would be left feeling concerned about just how motivated Ayami was when she was given completely free reign; but then you didn't know Atsuko very well. She was all about rising to the challenge and overcoming it. There was a reason why she was always the most eager to dive into Aya's training -- even despite the Elfen's warnings about how hard it was. There was simply no way to discourage her from at least giving it a shot.
And once she took that first step, she'd keep going until she conquered it. " I'm looking forward to it." , honestly, the energy that these two had about it was probably enough to frighten anyone else... And it was enough to make a certain pink Kai a little concerned, and all the more insistent about Atsuko getting some DARN REST ALREADY.
Anyway. The tour of the now fully revived facility was going along pretty smoothly. Ayami taking notes about this and that, already coming up with various ways to improve upon the design that each thing had. Atsuko listened intently to every word. It was going to be important for her to grasp how these things worked, after all. " I may have to rely on you for maintenance, until I get the hang of being able to make the repairs myself." , she comments.
But nonetheless, she wanted the mechanic to go through with every last bit of it. Because all of it was going to be incredibly useful. If they had it back up to speed when it was in the prime of it's use, then this was about pushing it beyond that. The Knights were going to have to adapt to the times, and that all started with the place they would call home. One could hardly deny that Atsuko had big visions for this; and Ayami was the one of the integral people that could make it all happen.
The next thing that Ayami had to suggest came in regards to the library. Namely, a computer that could more efficiently store all of the knowledge, and also be accessible from theoretically anywhere... That sounded pretty useful. " I'm all for it. We'll still keep the books because some people may prefer to read that way, but your idea will increase efficiency without a doubt." Next up was the entrance. The Elfen had really hit her groove now, coming up with a way to give this the makeover it needed to both be more durable, and more hidden than ever before. " That sounds good to me. Make it happen, Ayami!" The Saiyan was mostly just following along, she didn't have much to add, because Ayami was the expert here. But every single suggestion that she was making all sounded excellent. This whole facility was going to be given a modern makeover... Atsuko couldn't raise any argument against it either, not that she wanted to. This was going to be perfect for her to get used to what the rest of Earth's society is like.
It would also make it more appealing for others to stay here. It could serve as a safe haven, and have many luxuries. This was precisely what it needed." I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done." , Atsuko then admits with a smile. " As for the heavy lifting... Just tell me what you need and where you need it. That'll be no problem!" Ayami

"Maintenance?!"Ayami immediately got up close to the knight, her eyes full of stars!!! She was going to be in charge of maintaining everything in this place?! That sounded excellent! This was fantastic in every way! She gave a grin, nodding slowly."Ah. This will be exhilarating."With one last greenlight given for all of these improvements the elfen inventor stepped outside into the glaring sunlight, shielding her eyes for a moment to look out at the horizon. She grabbed a stick from the ground and began to write into the dirt..."Our path to a perfect base begins here!"The girl ran all over drawing lines in the dirt...At first it looked like she was just pointlessly dragging a stick through the ground, but once she slowed to a stop it became clearer...She was drawing a road map of improvements, easy to follow but incredibly complex too. Ayami wiped sweat off of her forehead. Giving a thumbs up to the knight."First we're going to need materials. Lots of steel, scrap electronics, wiring...And I know exactly the place to get all of that!"The crazy inventor led the albino saiyan to a junkyard a little ways away in a little town. It was just ripe for the picking with so many scrapped parts and steel to be used. The owner seemed perplexed by Ayami's request at first..."I'll triple your business if you let me help myself to anything in your junk yard!" It seemed like a crazy prospect...Ayami was science minded, not business minded. The junkyard owner was hesitant...Up until the young inventor gave him a devilish grin."Business is just a numbers game...Just like mathematics."She proceeded to write a formula out on a napkin and slide it over to the owner. He was completely confused by it at first...All until the elfen girl whispered in his ear. Whatever she said it caused his eyes to light up immediately as he began to nod with great fervor! The two shook hands, securing every bit of material they would need for this renovation! The tinkerer went wild digging through all of the junk in this place, gathering piece after piece, pulling paneling from rusting cars, broken radios from their interiors, and even finding thrown away computers! Piece after piece she gave to the knight to carry, eventually having to just get a trailer to pull behind them...But it seemed like Ayami knew exactly what they needed too. She gave a wave to the owner as they departed."Ohohoho~! This is exhilarating!"They had returned to the base now carrying far more than they left with. Ayami wasted no time at all taking out tools to use for their renovations. A blowtorch was procured from her own workshop for this process for welding, the cooling tank had been pulled out from the base's forge and repurposed to hold phosphoric acid: A chemical which removed rust. The inventor pulled her goggles down over her eyes and began cutting the steel procured from old appliances, cars, and anything else they had managed to salvage, she cut them down into manageable pieces and dropped each into the tank.It was tough work, but after several hours cutting and dunking, the steel they had acquired that once looked so unusable now looked like perfectly even, cleaned steel plates, excellent for what they were going to need! She held one up, letting the sun's light reflect off of it to make it look brilliant."Our first step to an ultimate base is completed!"Ayami got to work right away welding the steel into new shapes in order to use them in greater ways! She welded several pieces together tightly to improve durability, in no time at all she had already assembled a massive steel door for the entrance! No more was their base protected solely by a false wall...She rolled out a patch of carpeting she had taken from the junkyard, spraying it liberally with green paint and watching as this tacky, outdated carpeting soon became faux grass...Perfect for its purpose of concealing the entrance. With the entrance in order Ayami began to dig through the scrap electronics she had gathered, tearing them open with pliers and screwdrivers to separate each part.Take the speakers from stereos, the sensors from automatic lights, and pressure plates from scrapped bear traps, combine them all together, adjust the sensitivity for the average weight of a person..."After a moment of tinkering she turned around, holding out a heavy device which had to be held with two hands!"Eureka! A proximity sensor!!! It detects sound, movement, and directly applied weight!"The elfen inventor demonstrated by pressing a hand against the plate, causing a lamp that was wired to it to light up. It was clear the final product would be wired to something a little more elegant, but for the sake of a demonstration it served its purpose quite well. She got to work making several more...10 more in fact! She handed five to Atsuko, each wired up to a lengthy cable."Go bury these all around the base in a circle radius of about half a mile. I'm going to do the same!"And so Ayami got to work burying her own set of proximity sensors, carefully digging small trenches to hold the cable that had been wired up to them. it took quite some time...But finally she returned to the base with a set of cables buried all the way up to the entrance. Once Atsuko returned the elfen began wiring these cables up to a computer terminal."Watch."The young tinkerer ran over to one of the buried proximity sensors, planting her foot firmly on top. The terminal glowed to life, displaying which sensor was tripped, the exact weight being placed on it, the sound of the area, and the movement speed of the thing tripping it as well as the exact location on a mini-map where this was...To call it an incredible piece of security would be an understatement. These sensors would give the knight everything except the person's image in an instant. With just a few more things put in place, like cctv cameras hidden within trees and covered just right by branches while being painted shades of green and brown, the security of this base had been successfully overhauled!Next it was time to work on the interior...Starting with the forge. With goggles still strapped securely over her eyes, Ayami began to weld steel plates onto the furnace of the forge itself. A hole was cut to ensure that oxygen could still be vented into the chamber, and pipes built up into the ceiling provided a path for the smoke to take out and away from the base. temperature gauges were installed which displayed temperature in fahrenheit, celsius, and kelvin. a small valve was added which pumped cool air into the chamber to reduce temperature as needed. The young inventor wiped sweat off of her face, a bright grin beaming from her.
Next was the automatic hammer, the adjustments were simple...One measurement of the underside led to the elfen cutting pieces of steel in just the right shapes - And then promptly welding them securely onto the underside. She placed a spare piece of steel onto the bench and started up the hammer, watching as it pounded away with increased efficiency."Aha!"Next came the library...The elfen tinkerer pushed a server rack into a spare corner, setting up all of the wiring for it and installing data onto it, connecting it to a computer terminal which she placed on a desk, and sitting back as the computers set themselves up from there. Ayami gave Atsuko the task of bringing in appliances for modern comforts, a simple task but one that helped tremendously as the inventor was able to focus on her improvements while the albino knight took care of other matters at the same time. With all of this set up there was only one final improvement to finish...The training course.
Tons worth of steel were brought into the open chasm hidden behind the base's very walls, all being set up and moved by pulleys which Ayami had set herself. It took a great amount of effort welding steel into frames, twisting and winding cables all over the place, and redirecting the waterfall, but with enough time the ideal obstacle course started coming into shape...With a few final adjustments screwing things together with bolts, the young elfen stepped back, dusting off her hands and taking in the work she had accomplished. A fully stocked obstacle course! Some of the steel balls that rolled down the waterfall had been taken and repurposed, now swinging from cables on a rail, the water was being redirected down various channels, creating paths where one had to fight raging rivers to proceed forward, with the channels being adjustable to increase or decrease the speed of the flowing water. Steel platforms hung from hooks could be moved on rails to shift the "landscape" of the obstacle course entirely, each platform having their own set of obstacles to work with. Each one "removable" simply by moving it along the track until it was out of the way.
Electrified platforms that pulled energy from the generator via crystals underneath gave a small yet non-fatal shock to those who stood on it, forcing participants to fight through pain in order to progress. Platforms which routed the rolling spheres onto it when set up gave challengers a new obstacle in the form of having to dodge, push, or jump over spheres that rolled their way. And when Ayami pulled a lever at the start? All of this began to actively move, forcing those going through it to adapt as the course would constantly and automatically change without outside influence. It was the sort of "Ultra hard" setting the albino saiyan had been seeking!"So...What do you think?" Atsuko

Atsuko gives a nod as Ayami expresses her surprise over being able to maintain all of this. This place was going to need a lot of care and attention in order to stay running at full efficiency, and the only one she could trust to do that was none other than the very person she was asking to make all of these changes in the first place. So that left the little matter of where to start with all of this; it was going to be a massive undertaking. Fortunately, the Elfen knew exactly what to do.
At first the drawing with the stick makes little sense; but then the Saiyan is able to start piecing it together... This was the logistics and a strategic plan to victory. By taking it in steps they could overhaul the entire place no matter what. Now it was just a matter of securing the resources, and the Elfen even had a plan for that! " You really do have this all figured out, Ayami." The Knight was nothing short of impressed with the progress already being made. She follows the mechanic's lead, and soon enough they're at a junkyard securing the parts and materials they needed. Seeing Ayami in action with negotiations was like seeing a new side of her, too. Somehow she convinced him so effortlessly, and just like that they were loading up all the things they needed for the base. There was so much of it, in fact, that there was a necessity for a trailer to contain it all.
The Knight could still handle moving that, of course. Hell, it made for some pretty decent training in it's own right! " I think I'll have to work with you like this more often... I could get plenty strong just by carrying things for you." Well, at least Atsuko was motivated. Getting back to the base was where things started getting even more hectic, because now it involved moving things around, getting all the stuff ready; acquiring the raw materials was step one, and they had plenty of work ahead of them. While she might not be as technically minded as the Elfen was, she still grasped metallurgy, and how to work with steel.
A few tips and she'd be able to handle that all while Ayami focused her efforts on other things. Eventually they had gotten the new door in place. A bit more work added to it and now it had been camouflaged. It was kind of unreal to see the place transforming so fast... If everything before this was like a walk transitioning to a jog, then this was where it turned into a full-on sprint.
Now it was time to get the security up and running, with the instructions from the Elfen, the Knight started carrying her portion of the proximity sensors and placing them just as instructed. She had a little bit of trouble grasping how this might work, but she was certain it was going to be good; and when she got back she wasn't disappointed. Ayami's test already showing just how useful this could be.
They wouldn't just be in a perfectly hidden base, they could also tell if anyone came in or out. " Wow... This is going to make a huge difference in keeping the base safe." , the Saiyan commented, hardly able to believe just how much technology could do. The only thing it didn't do was give her an image of the person that came int proximity, but...
Ayami even had that much covered with her next step. Things moved swiftly on to the interior of the facility. The forge was the very first thing that was given the modernization treatment, and just by looking at it, Atsuko could already tell that much higher quality weaponry and armor could be made now. Not only would productivity go up, but so would the actual efficacy of the items. The next thing was the automatic hammer; which was already going to town on a piece of steel like it was in the hands of a master smith." Amazing... We can pretty much do something like this with every part of the forge here..." , the Saiyan muttered. Naturally one would still need the right skill to get the best results, but making the tools as advanced as possible would certainly make things a lot easier.
Things that were previously impossible would now be in reach. Ayami decided to set her sights on the library next, but tasked Atsuko with carrying in all of the modern conveniences and appliances that they had picked up. The Saiyan started doing just that. By the time the Elfen finished up with her tasks, Atsuko had done the same on her end. After that it was time to tackle the dream training course -- or the nightmare one, depending on your perspective.
With the Saiyan handling the heavy lifting and holding things in place as needed, the work went just as smoothly as with everything else. It was like this whole place had been transformed from top to bottom... That pretty much was the case for the newly dubbed training course. The Knight just stared in awe as Ayami showed off every single thing that it could do to make the training that much more difficult on whoever was participating in it." It's perfect... All of it is." , she looks to Ayami. While there was no question of the respect that the Saiyan held for her, nonetheless Atsuko removed her helmet to face her friend properly, with a smile she then says... " Thank you for all of your help." The Albino Saiyan had been given quite the workout when it came to handling all of this. But she didn't seem tired from it; if anything it looked like she was ready to push herself even more. " So, is there anything else we need to do?" , she then queries. Ayami

The young inventor gave Atsuko a thumbs up as she offered to help carry things more often. It was definitely a welcome offer considering how often Ayami visited junkyards to find scrap steel and parts for her projects. Even if she wasn't a pushover when it came to strength carrying so much at once was always a challenge! But with the two of them working together...They were able to make short work of it."That would be a welcome change of pace! It gets kinda boring carrying my finds back home on my own! Besides, you'd be able to see a lot more traveling that way. Trust me! You meet lots of people!"She couldn't help but chuckle as Atsuko was taken aback by the level of security that was provided. It was only natural that Ayami provide the best she could manage when it came to securing this place. Now there was no way anyone could sneak in unless they straight up teleported! ... The elfen inventor sincerely hoped that wasn't possible."Nobody's getting in or out of here without you knowing about it! And with sensors being set up as far as a half mile out you'll have a few minutes to prepare for visitors. Good or bad. A few minutes can make all the difference in the course of battle!"As for the forge...A quick check confirmed it was all running at peak efficiency, and even the albino knight's comments served to prove that more and more. That she was so impressed just made the elfen all the more excited about this!!!"A forge so simple even a novice can use it. A forge so efficient a master can create works of art!"At the end of their impromptu tour of the renovations the saiyan knight showed her gratitude. So much that she even took off her helmet...Was this a sign of respect? It certainly felt like one to the young inventor. Although...She wasn't entirely sure how to respond. Ayami rubbed the back of her neck, grinning."Admittedly I kinda had a lot of fun setting all of this up...You should let me do more improvements in the future! I bet I can make some amazing things!"She gave Atsuko a peace sign with her free hand. It was clear from how she felt about all of this that not even a single moment felt like work to her. Ayami simply...Had fun doing these things. It was her passion in a way very few people could claim to have a passion. Her words earlier about wanting to create things that changed the world...They rang true even stronger now. This was simply what she was like."You'll have to let me take the obstacle course for a spin sometime though!"With all of that set aside...Atsuko asked if there was something else that needed to be done...The elfen wracked her mind, trying to think if there might have been anything at all she missed. Although...Nothing really came to mind. A glance of the place showed that it was about as "modern" as it could get without being rebuilt from the foundation up. Yes there was nothing left at all! ... Up until Ayami's stomach growled loudly...She had forgotten to eat all day again."Well! I guess if our work is done we can always make something to eat. I'm starving!!!" Atsuko

Seems like Ayami would welcome the help; that worked out just fine for Atsuko. Not only would she be helping her friend, but it was an excellent reason to meet new people, and get some basic training in. While she'd still need to fit some good old fashioned combat training in elsewhere, it would certainly make her stronger to take care of any cargo that the Elfen needed tending to. " Sounds like a plan to me, then!" The new level of security meant that she could also rest a lot easier now. This place wasn't going to be easily cracked into anytime soon. Even Akisei might have some trouble pulling off that kind of feat. Plus it was just like Ayami said, the more time you had to prepare, even a precious few minutes... That could make all the difference in a world. " Your changes could very well end up saving lives. Whether it comes to combat or not." , Atsuko comments.
Everything in this place was now all about convenience; a novice could figure it out, but a master of the respective crafts could bring out something truly amazing. This place wasn't just a barely functional barracks anymore. It was a full blown living space that could very well be a hotel of some variety; not that she would use it for that purpose, but that seemed to be the closest comparison. This whole facility had been rocketed into the space age on just about every front that she could think of.
Ayami wanted to help out even more with improving things too. Even if they couldn't do anything else with this place... Atsuko did have one idea. " Well, since you offered. I do know a place that could use some fixing up. It's a house that I built with Tomina. It suits the purpose well enough, but we don't have plumbing or electricity yet. Sound up your alley?" She asked with a grin, already knowing Ayami's answer. When the Elfen requested being able to use the training course herself sometime, the Saiyan gives a nod at that. " Of course! Whenever you'd like to use it, it's open to you." It did seem as though the conversation stalled a bit now. Namely because... There wasn't much else to do with this place. They'd touched upon just about everything that needed addressing. So now it was time to reward all of their efforts with a good meal. The mechanic seemed to share the sentiment in that regard. " Good thing we got that kitchen fixed up, then. I'll make us something to eat." With that, the Saiyan makes her way towards that room, and gets right to searching for the ingredients she needs. She had plenty of supplies meant to be cooked up at a campfire. Nice long shelf-life and all that. But with this kind of equipment, she could make it into a pretty damn good dinner. Soon enough she's started cooking up a stew. It wouldn't take long for the smell to start traveling from the kitchen to the dining room, either...
Provided one enjoyed stew; this one smelled especially appetizing. She was getting the seasoning just right, and preparing the meal in generally a very high level fashion. She might not be a pro chef, but it was clear that part of her survival training covered how to make an excellent meal out of bare minimum resources. Now that she actually had a place to store food and keep it fresh, she could do a lot more in the future too.
But for now, a simple meal would do. Ayami

The saiyan knight said something that had resulted in Ayami honestly being a bit taken aback...What she did could save lives? She blinked in surprise, not really knowing what to say to that. She hadn't ever...Saved lives with her inventions. It was all fun and games to her even with her ideals. But to hear Atsuko say something like that..."You...Really think so? Wow...Nobody's ever said something like that to me before. ... I didn't actually think I was able to do something like that."For the first time all day her expression was far different than it had been before. It was...Somewhere between contemplative and solemn. Perhaps humbled. She rubbed her chin deep in thought before finally looking back up at the knight."... Do you think I've really got what it takes to be a hero?"Sure she had been part of the battle to save Penguin village, but...It hadn't really hit her this hard until now. For so long she concerned herself with affecting people emotionally, realizing her shortsighted ideals...Being a hero wasn't really something she aimed for. But it felt different. It felt...Good. To be a hero wasn't that far from what she idealized, but she had never before considered such a thing seriously. Not until now. She took a seat in the kitchen, simply waiting as the food was prepared. At the very least, the subject changed to something Ayami was far more certain about. It seems that Atsuko and her sister had a home they built together. ... But it was lacking a little scientific touch...Well! There was one way to fix it! The elfen inventor nodded enthusiastically."No water or electricity?! You can count on me! I've always wanted to build a power grid!!! Besides, I owe Mina for all her help too! I owe both of you...For helping me save that village, y'know."She finally got her beaming smile back as Atsuko agreed to let her train here. Besides, she couldn't stay so somber when the stew smelled THIS good!"That smells great! What is it?"Once the food was served Ayami wasted no time digging right in, eating the whole thing super fast as if she hadn't eaten in days! Honestly this elfen's appetite could rival a saiyan's from the looks of things..."Wow! Super!!! This stuff is great!!!"Yeah...She kept eating until the whole bowl was practically shining clean. To say she enjoyed this meal would be an understatement! She clapped her hands together and bowed, grinning brightly."Thanks for the meal!"A lot of things loomed in the future. The assassins were still out there and waiting, Ayami, Atsuko, and Tomina all still had a long ways to go before they would be prepared to defend this world, their home. The kai may have been watching them from afar but even with the assistance of gods their futures were still certain to be full of struggle and strife. But even despite all of that, even despite their uncertain fates...Right now these two were able to simply enjoy a meal in peace. To enjoy the fruits of their labor with a sense of satisfaction and pride. And nothing in this moment could ever take that away. The elfen inventor and the saiyan knight had become inseparable friends, they had become like sisters in their own right after the events that transpired at Penguin Village.
This was the beginning of a new age for the Knights of Yama, all started from a single spark.[Exit] AtsukoOOC Notes: I really enjoyed this thread! We got a lot of good character development from this.

While she was cooking, the Knight did have the chance to respond to what Ayami was saying. It wasn't lost on her that the Elfen seemed a bit lost in thought and surprised with what she could do with her skills. Atsuko smiles softly as she begins to respond. " You've shown that you're plenty strong with your fighting skills, but even more than that you know how to control it." She pauses for a moment. " You prevented any major damage being done to Penguin Village. In both times we had a big fight there." , she adds. " The technology you used gave us an edge too. But you can use it for a lot more than just setting up traps or finding new ways to hit things a bit harder than before." About then, Ayami asked if she really had what it takes to be a hero. Atsuko didn't even hesitate to nod and give a verbal response alongside it. " Definitely. You're on the fast track to that kind of life right now. You already want to defend your home and the people you care about. Between the training you're getting, and your new job at Capsule Corporation..." She pauses once more, now bringing the finished meal to the table. " You're in the perfect position to make it a reality. You only need to apply yourself." It was pretty high praise, and Atsuko meant every word of it. Ayami had all the makings of a Knight. More than a few times she wanted to ask if the Elfen wished to become one, but she held off on it. Mainly because she didn't want Ayami to be in danger... But if this was the kind of thing she wanted to do, that did change things. She'd have to think it over, and perhaps suggest it later on. See what she thought of it. Right now, they had a meal to enjoy. The mechanic asks what food the Saiyan ended up cooking." It's a stew. Plenty of dinosaur meat, some potatoes and other veggies -- all cooked together with some gravy and just the right amount of seasoning." , the Knight states with a proud grin. " You can't adventure and train on an empty stomach, after all. Learning how to cook was a big part of my lessons." Just like that, the two were seated and started eating at a pace that was just about dead even; and given Atsuko's appetite, it was quite a large stew to work with. Even with both of them having a matching hunger, there was plenty to go around and see them both full after all the hard work they put in. But, ultimately that dinner didn't last very long either!
The Elfen was quick to voice her thanks for the food too. Atsuko gives a calm nod at that. " You're welcome. I think we've earned a rest. You're welcome to stay if you like." It was strange to think about just how many adventures they had together in such a short amount of time. It felt like they knew each other for a lot longer. She felt a strong sense of camaraderie with Ayami. The idea of her being a sister was a mutually shared feeling. To think it all happened from a chance encounter because of some goons...
She couldn't think of a better way for it all to have happened.[Exit] Ayami

Well this was certainly a lucky find. Tomina will lament not finding this secret hideout in her homeless days. You both get 2,000 Zeni. Atsuko gets 65 PL and Ayami gets 130, due to the doubled gains.
