[Thread PL: 295] [Babystep Weights Active, PL gains doubled!]
That strange knight Ayami had met recently at Penguin village seemed to take a keen interest in the elfen's skills. Seems she has been looking for allies, people that can be trusted. To be honest the inventor didn't understand the full gist of it all, but Atsuko requested Ayami simply meet her here at this...Random spot? The elfen girl was still scratching her head at these coordinates. It was just a random hill...Though the knight assured her prior to arrival that just inside the cave was the exact location they needed to meet up at. Honestly Ayami's strong point wasn't questioning things, it was getting results. so with that set aside, the elfen entered the dark cave...Only to soon witness a strange blue light at the end of the tunnel."Wha...?"She shrugged and continued forward, it wasn't an uneasy light by any means - But it was definitely a light that gave off a sort of..."Mystical" aura quite unlike anything she had ever felt before. As Ayami pressed onward the oppressive darkness soon gave way to the magical blue light that lie beyond the threshold. The elfen inventor had to shield her eyes as the rapid shift in light made her eyes more sensitive than usual. But once her eyes finally adjusted to the odd blue hued lighting...She witnessed a strange hall that ended with a throne made of material completely unknown to the young elfen. In fact, very few materials here were recognized... It was as if the material was fabricated from some lost mystical methodology. Ayami could do little but stare in amazement, whistling as she took all of this in."I knew she was a bit odd but I had no idea she was hiding THIS much. I'd love to get that material in a lab. The kind of tests I would do to it. Nyehehehe~...My mind is just racing at the thought!"Since it seemed as though Atsuko wasn't immediately present yet, the elfen chose to make herself right at home waiting for the blonde-haired saiyan to arrive to this "Secret hideout" of hers. Ayami gravitated right towards the throne, taking a seat and adjusting herself for a few moments...Before lounging by throwing her legs over the left arm rest. The inquisitive inventor ran two bare fingers across the throne's surface, feeling its cool touch on her skin. It was...Curious to her, to say the least. It certainly wasn't THAT odd of a material, but it was solid. What's more, she made a mental note of how some of the room's decor matched the knight's armor in pattern. So it stood to reason that wherever the saiyan came across a suit like that must have originated in a place not dissimilar to this one. - If this wasn't the exact spot itself. A million questions danced in the elfen's racing mind, but she would have to wait for Atsuko's arrival before she could let loose those thousand and one curiosities welling up in her mind. Atsuko

[Thread PL: 345] [Suppressed to 5] It had been a little while since Atsuko had come back here. This mysterious place still needed so much more attention and care before it could flourish as it had back in the golden days. The Saiyan was a hard worker, and she certainly had a lot more to give than most people did. But this was a massive undertaking for one person. Especially since the Saiyan needed the assistance of people with expertise.
She mused on that as she made her way inside shortly after Ayami did. It was her hope that the Elfen's affinity for technology might come into use in giving this place the good shove that it needed. Of course, there was still a lot to figure out in terms of magic, but... One step at a time. This was going to be a long road. But at least she had some allies to make it easier.
This place still felt calming to her. Perhaps that was intentional on the part of whoever originally designed it. Either way, it doesn't take her long to approach the throne and spot Ayami resting on it in her own way. " Sorry to have kept you waiting, Ayami." The Knight stated, and then couldn't help but be curious of what she thought of this place so far. It looked like Ayami was a little lost in her thoughts just examining the general decor as she waited for the Albino Saiyan to arrive. " I've tried fixing the place up. I mainly managed to get it cleaned up and things sorted back into the right place. It's still a long way from being fully operational." The Saiyan adds, pausing for a moment. " That in mind... What do you think of it?" , Atsuko then falls silent, allowing Ayami the opportunity to reply. Ayami

Before long the saiyan arrived on the scene, just as armored as ever. Ayami was still lost in theorizing and planning right up until the albino spoke up. Atsuko had certainly called it just from a quick glance - The elfen's mind raced with thousands of ideas, hundreds of possibilities. Even as she was "freed from the trance", Ayami continued to think ceaselessly. The elfen inventor grinned as Atsuko approached, waving an idle hand in the knight's direction."Don't worry about it. It took me a bit to really take...All of this in. I can see now why you were so secretive about it huh?"Atsuko noted her efforts in getting this place operational again. Well...Cleaning and sorting was certainly a start if nothing else. But using her ki sensing, the elfen noted something...Interesting."It's a good step in the right direction, but have you ever given this place a feel? It feels...Incomplete. Uh, not in the sense of decor, I mean physically, like there's a gap in this place's aura. Does any of this run on some kinda...Power source? Clearly the lighting doesn't, but I have this feeling..."The Elfen inventor pivoted on her hips until her legs were facing off the front of the chair again, and then she pushed herself off of the throne and back onto her feet, standing up straight. Atsuko gave Ayami the most interesting question...And so the inventor obliged with as in-depth a response as she could muster."Well I think whoever built this place must've been quite a metal worker. I can't figure the alloys in this place out at a glance, or even a touch...Usually certain metals have a distinct feel to bare skin, but this place? Nope. Not so far. I'd love to reverse engineer this stuff. As for the hideout itself..."The elfen girl casually stepped over to the forge room, her eyes darting all over the place and taking everything in. She was silent for only a moment before continuing."I think it needs some kinda name honestly. Beyond that? You need some tech! The forge could use a temperature gauge, the entrance needs some kinda proximity detector, maybe a few lamps for the library...Oh and the forge itself..."Ayami crouched down, taking a look at the forge's heating source, the place where fire would normally play an element seemed devoid of any fuel for a typical fire. As if this forge was not your average setup at all, which was to be expected..."It needs to be started up somehow!"The elfen inventor stood up once more, dusting off her hands and placing them against her hips."It's a lotta work to be sure, but once I work my OWN brand of magic this place will be fit for a hundred people, maybe more!" Atsuko

True to the Knight's first impressions of the Elfen, she caught on pretty quick as to why Atsuko wanted to keep this place from becoming something like a "Tourist Spot". This... All of it was special, it had to be a closely guarded secret, at least up until the point that they were ready to carefully select people to bring into the fold. Sorta like what Atsuko was doing right now. " Yeah, I knew you'd get it after seeing it." Not long after that, Ayami admits that the steps already taken were good ones, but the place still felt pretty incomplete... A sensation that the Saiyan was inclined to agree with. This place was lit up, but it didn't feel like it was actually powered on yet. That might explain a few things, honestly. " I did notice a few things supposedly related to power, but I wanted to wait until I had someone with some expertise to look it over." The Elfen then begins to share her thoughts on this place. It was pretty unlike anything she had seen before, which the Knight couldn't help but nod in agreement with. Other places may have been more advanced, but there was something special about this whole structure. It was almost like dealing with a lost civilization. " I have my suspicions that the people that made this place were capable of magic; and some pretty strong forms of it, too." The Albino Saiyan begins to explain. " Perhaps that also extends to the materials used. It would explain why none of it seems quite natural to Earth." , she adds. Beyond that, it was pretty standard stuff. It needed a name, it could use some technology... Stuff like that." Hmm. I'll see if I can come up with what to call it... For now, though. I feel as though our best efforts should be dedicated towards getting it fully operational again." And it seems like Ayami already had a lot of ideas in that regard! The Saiyan couldn't think of any objections to anything that was listed off, it all sounded exactly like what this place needed. " Well, that's all great news! So I imagine that means our first stop is getting the power back up, and figuring out how we can accommodate technology for it, right?" Atsuko had the sneaking suspicion that this place wouldn't have a normal power plant... Or anything even remotely resembling that. No, it was going to be something just as mysterious as everything else here. Ayami

The saiyan knight comments that she noticed herself that a few things were missing concerning this hideaway's power source. It was some important info! The elfen inventor circles the knight slowly with a hand to her chin as she inquires a few details regarding this place and what the saiyan has already seen for herself."You noticed it already then? If you've found anything that looks even remotely related to this power then you've gotta give me the full deets! Did you see anything like a wall outlet? Perhaps gears? Pipes? Have you heard a hissing sound or a low droning noise? Any documentation left behind by whoever was here before?"With that aside the elfen steps up to the forge's fireplace and places her left ear firmly against the wall. Just before one might start to question what she was doing, Ayami takes her right hand and begins to lightly and repeatedly tap the wall; sliding downwards as she does so. With that done she steps over to the other side of the forge's fireplace and repeats the process once more. Often she would pause in one spot and tap multiple times as if she noticed something odd...But then she stopped this process and crouched down at the opening to the fireplace. With an awkwardly silence droning over the pair the Elfen removes a glove and sweeps her bare finger against the floor of the fireplace and then brings that finger to her mouth, giving it a slow lick."Mhm...Mhmmmm...Oh I get it! Wow that's really how they did it?"Ayami places her glove back on her hand before turning around and facing the knight, just as Atsuko had finished speaking of her hypothesis. It was a fair point...But the inventor had something to add to that!"Magic it may certainly be. But no magic can outpace old fashioned ingenuity! Even if they kept their secrets to themselves I'm afraid I've already cracked the code!"Placing a confident hand on her hip the water elfen grins with a sly intelligence, really it was amazing what they pulled off here, but it wouldn't have been her first guess. She decided to finally clue the albino in on what exactly she had discovered, removing the darkened veil of information that was at play here."Gaseous carbon. Delivered through a pipe. That trace taste is unmistakable! The reason for our little power issue is either whatever fuel they used ran out. Or..."The inventor girl made an "explosion" gesture complete with sound. She did this to emphasize her point as she spoke her next words to further drive home what she was speaking of."...Or there's nothing converting the fuel into the proper state! All we have to do is find the source and we're in business!"It was great news, their solution was at hand - Or at least from her confidence one could be led to believing as much. Atsuko stated that a name could come later, for now her priorities lied solely with getting this secret paradise operational once again. Ayami could certainly agree with that much. A name only meant so much if it was tacked onto a sinking ship. Being given the go-ahead for upgrades made the elfen's enthusiasm skyrocket."Oh fantastic! When I'm done with it you'll want to LIVE here! Trust me! But yes, yes! We've gotta get the juice flowing or there's no point!"The inventor began to tap along the structure's walls until she rapped against a part that rang out hollow."There we are."Ayami motioned for Atsuko to follow her and she quickly began to scurry along the wall, tapping it all the way. It seems that in short order she had dropped hot onto the trail of this mysterious power source they were seeking so diligently. One thing was for sure - With this eccentric girl on the job it was only a matter of time until a solution presented itself. Even if that solution involved copious amounts of jury rigging, grease, and spit. Atsuko

When Ayami asked if Atsuko had noticed it, the Saiyan gives a nod in response. " Yeah, it's pretty hard to miss that this place isn't restored to full functionality yet. I messed around with the forge earlier, but I couldn't get it to do much of anything despite my best efforts." Of course, that was just one of the hints to the problem; there were other issues. Pretty much anything aside from the doors didn't work like it was supposed to. At least the lights weren't a problem. Although it was hard to tell if that was because they could naturally power themselves, or if this whole place was running on reserves...
Although as the Knight was about to divulge more information on what she knew, she found herself at a loss for words as she watched Ayami hard at work; already trying to figure out what was going on here... In rather unusual methods, from what she could estimate. Not that Atsuko would say anything, but was it really safe to go tasting anything that came out of that?
Eventually the Elfen begins to divulge all of her deductions just from this single action, however! It was pretty impressive; and it would certainly explain why there was a distinct lack of anything happening even when one tried to bring a flame directly to the forge. Right idea, wrong execution. With the go ahead, Ayami seems to be struck with even more energy, and swiftly leads the way.
In the process, Atsuko finally manages to get the moment to get a word in. " Actually, I think I know what we might be looking for..." , the Saiyan begins. But they were basically headed in the right direction anyway; a strange little pedestal that had distinct creases in the top of it.
Creases that implied that something was slotted in that you could remove, and place back at will. Above this pedestal was a very odd structure resembling a stalactite." I left this alone too, but since you're here now, there's no reason not to just... Give it a try, right?" The Knight rather boldly presses a button on the pedestal, and in so doing, the stalactite-like protrusion gives off a mysterious blue light, revealing a symbol in the process. Eventually all of this glowing energy begins to coalesce into a single drop, which impacts against the pedestal.
That is when the object embedded into it lights up. Unable to contain her curiosity, Atsuko reaches for it and gives it a gentle, investigative pull. What results is a small tablet-like device coming free. Looks like that drop just gave it a full charge too. The Saiyan holds it in such a way that Ayami can get a view of this thing too.
Eventually the blank screen lights up with what looks like a photo; that looked like the Sacred Land of Korin... Or at least a specific part of it. With one thing that stood straight out on the photo; a blue glow that resembled what they just saw here." What do you think, Ayami?" , the Saiyan was a little unfamiliar with this kind of technology; especially since it did still seem to be that weird fusion of magic and science. But it was certainly here and operating... And it seemed to be telling them where to go for answers.
At least, that was what Atsuko hoped. Ayami

Ayami stopped what she was doing for only a moment as the albino noted that she actually already knew what they were after. ... Although as she turned back to look at Atsuko, it turns out they were...Already there."Oooohh! Well why didn't ya just say so?! That's great! Show the way and I'll follow!"The elfen turned and spotted the exact room they were after, blinking for only a moment in stunned silence before breaking it with an exclamation of victory."Aha! I knew my ingenuity would lead us to the source!"Not that the inventor had anything to do with this discovery at all, but she wasn't going to divulge THAT little detail...Setting the who and how aside! Ayami began to investigate the pedestal thoroughly. She ran an inquisitive finger along each of the creases that curved inwards, noting that something in the middle seemed to not be part of the pedestal itself...Curious. The inventor lowered her goggles and zoomed in on the top, the object which seemed to be a separate piece entirely. Indeed the zoom divulged exactly what she was looking for - This part had been constructed separately and attached through means currently unknown. The albino knight mentioned that she hadn't bothered investigating this thing, but that only prompted an excited yet impatient response!"Well don't keep things waiting! Give it a shot! Work your...Odd knightly magic or whatever it is you use!"What happened next blew the elfen away. The stalactite looming above hummed to life and began to glow the self-same hue the entire place was lit up with. Ayami stepped back slowly, taking all of that in and just...Laughing maniacally. It seems the excitement at witnessing ancient machinery roar to life filled her with a whole new ecstasy unlike any other machine so far had given her. The only thing that excited her more than this was Zeni herself."Ahaha! It lives, it lives!!! This is one beautiful baby you've just woken up!"The object the water elfen had discovered to be separate from the pedestal begins to glow after the stalactite drops an odd liquid onto its surface... Ayami nudges Atsuko to proceed though it seems the knight already had the right idea as she managed to effortlessly pry this strange thing from its resting place. The albino saiyan asked for the inventor's own thoughts on this strange thing...And it didn't take long for her to perk up in excitement even more than moments ago!"Aaahh!!! This...This is a tablet device!!! You mean to tell me they whipped this thing up with that magic of theirs?! You better keep that beautiful piece of art safe, that's what I think!"With her goggles still dropped down over her eyes the engineer girl begins to inspect the image featured on the screen in fine detail, noting all of the surrounding objects, the various background elements...Everything that could serve as landmarks. There was really only one thing she could say about this."Well 'Suko."The elfen raises the goggles back up on her forehead and takes a glance towards the saiyan before continuing."I think we just found the solution to all of our problems." Atsuko

Well Ayami certainly seemed excited for all of this; not that Atsuko could blame her. It did have a certain thrill to be able to make progress on all of this. It felt like taking steps to resolve a big puzzle. It also doesn't take the Elfen long to identify what it is that they're working with here; a tablet... Come to think of it, Atsuko recalls seeing something like that before.
It was in the cities, people sometimes carried them around, or had smaller devices that highly resembled this, in any case. Those however looked like pure technology driven to a logical conclusion. This little wonder held in the Knight's hands? It felt way more unreal by comparison. She couldn't even begin to explain why it seemed that way, but it was just like the structure they were standing in.
It was just unlike anything else seen on Earth, despite sharing so many similarities. Now however, the concern lie in another matter. If they wanted to be able to get to the bottom of this... It was time to see if they could find this place shown in the photo. " We better start exploring, then." The Saiyan would then turn and begin making her way out of the hideout, keeping to a pace that Ayami was comfortable with, of course. Along the way the Knight couldn't help but fiddle with the strange device in her hands. Evidently there was more than just the capability for photos on this thing..." Interesting... This might end up being another thing I need your help with to fully understand everything it's capable of." , Atsuko admits. " But at least we seem to be making forward momentum on our main goal, so that can wait." There were so many secrets to unearth here. It felt like the pair were just on the cusp of a much larger journey. Ayami Notes: Feel free to describe the area, you already know what we're searching for. I'll pitch in as well!

And so the adventure begins!!! Atsuko led the way out of the hideout but the elfen wasted no time following along. If it was exploring then she was all in for it! Besides, maybe finding this power source would prove to be something the inventor could reverse engineer for future use! There were limitless possibilities. As the albino fiddled with her newfound device, Ayami couldn't help but steal glances over the knight's shoulder occasionally as they ventured forth."I still don't know how they made something like that...But I intend to find out! You can leave all the help to me! This is my specialty after all."Atsuko's request for help was duly noted and accepted without even a moment of hesitance in the water elfen's response. Ayami took a deep breath as they walked, the calm morning air was always a little bit moist, but also always refreshing! There was a certain spring in her step right now, it seemed like this whole day was going fantastically - And it was only on course to hit it's stride. But the nature of the holy land aside, there was important business! The elfen dug through her belt pack, procuring a collapsible sextant from it. With a flick of her wrist the tool was open and ready to be used! She spoke up as she studied the horizon in order to judge their distance to certain objects."There was a cliff wall in that photo right behind the power supply so obviously we'll wanna keep an eye out for sheer hills. From what I'm seein' there's a whole group of hills over that way in relatively close distance. I don't think your ancient friends would have put this thing half way across the countryside so our best bet is to check each hill within a fifty mile radius from the hideout. I count maybe...Four- No five hills. We'll have to check them from every side and some of them are pretty far around, I suspect it'll take us the better part of three hours if we keep to a brisk walking pace!"The inventor leaned in to study the photo once more, taking in other details. Trees were an obvious sight, but it wasn't as though it was a totally useless landmark. - These were poplar trees. Most of the holy land was made up of pine with perhaps a few birch and oak species mixed in, but poplars dotted the landscape in small patches. To be more specific; Black poplars. The bark on them was unmistakable to someone studious."If you see these funny lookin' trees then we're on the right track! With that we're further narrowing the list down...Oh but even if it takes a few hours I don't really mind! I kinda like the nature around here. So like..."Ayami collapsed the sextant and stored it away before continuing to speak, she looked over to the albino as she did so."What's your deal anyway? Do you live out here? Where do you come from? How'd you even FIND this place? The holy land is pretty but not a lot of people live out here honestly. I was kinda surprised when you told me this was the place!"Atsuko was a bit of an anomaly to the elfen. Using swords, wearing old medieval armor, living in the woods...The inventor girl gasped in surprise as she realized what this reminded her of! IT WAS VERY CLEAR WHAT ATSUKO WAS LIKE! SHE WAS...!"You're like Robin Hood or something!!!"... Close enough. Atsuko

The Saiyan smiled, she was pretty thankful to have Ayami's expertise on hand. They'd been through a lot together, squaring off with Dom Remi's gang, plus all of the training they did together. The Elfen pulled off more than a few tricks with technology, and all of that were excellent reasons for why the Knight asked her along today. " If anyone can figure out the how and why of any of this, it's you, Ayami." Eventually, Ayami started to list off the things she could see straight away in the photo -- and there was actually a good bit of evidence to help narrow down their search! The Saiyan gives a nod as Ayami did a great job at narrowing down the search zone with little more than what she could deduce from the photo and basic logic. " You know, you're pretty good at scouting. I guess that fits into the scientific mindset." , the Saiyan mused.
Finally, the Elfen commented that she didn't mind if their search took a bit. Mainly because it was nice here, and Atsuko was inclined to agree with that. It was another quiet and well cared for location; not too dissimilar from Beansprout Island in that regard, only the list of people living here was even smaller. That raised a few questions, and they all seemed to point to that tower in the distance. The Knight looks over to it knowingly. " Yeah. It still has one big mystery to be solved, too." Soon enough the Elfen started to unleash a barrage of questions for Atsuko; and before the Albino Saiyan even had an opportunity to respond to any one of them, the young mechanic draws her own conclusion. Atsuko couldn't help but chuckle softly. " Wasn't Robin Hood mainly a thief? Not exactly a Knight..." But that was only one part of the barrage to address. The Saiyan decides to take it in order from there on. " I make camp anywhere I need to. But with how I've been fixing up that base, I'm thinking of living there." , she gestures a thumb back to the cave they emerged from." My childhood home is in in the Frozen North, on top of a tall mountain. It's a Monastery that reminds me a lot of the temple you grew up in." , she then explains. That only left one last thing to address. " As for how I found this; it's part of my journey. I've been exploring Earth. For most of my life I was stuck inside that Monastery. The final step of my training is to familiarize myself with the world around me." The Saiyan then shrugs. " When I do come across people I can talk to, I ask them a lot of questions about the area. It's easy to pick up the latest rumors, and any stories associated to the regions when you dig around enough. Eventually I heard about the Sacred Land of Korin, the tower that can be seen from practically any distance here..." She then pauses briefly. " And of course, a strange cave with a hand imprint on a wall that looks man-made. I started investigating the cave, and then I found out that I could open the wall." Their conversation had served them pretty well, passing the time while they closed the distance to one of the hills. " Looks like we're here! I guess we just start searching?" Ayami

The elfen inventor chuckled, rubbing the back of her head bashfully. Really she wasn't the best in the world, but she took pride in her particular skill set, and with good reason. There weren't many people in the world with a passion for a particular craft, and when there were, they were few and far between. Sometimes people with a passion never got the opportunity to explore it!"Well y'know! It's not that tough, it just takes a little experimentation!"She gave the saiyan a salute, her smile spreading out into a bright grin as she received praise for her ability to pinpoint small details in an image."You can count on me to notice the details! I work with blueprints all the time after all! And scouting is a necessary skill for a loyal capsule corp employee! Did you know all employees have to have field survival training? We're setting up outposts all over the galaxy and there's never a guarantee that a world capsule corp staff lands on will have civilization!"The "big mystery" the albino knight referred to was unmistakable. The looming tower in the middle of the holy lands. Presumably the one that gave this picturesque landscape it's namesake. Korin's Tower. It was visible for miles around, a single pillar rising up beyond the clouds. Nobody alive knew why it had the name that it did, nor did anyone know who "Korin" was. The young inventor had measured it countless times to judge the distance to something in this region. It was a good landmark! But the truth is...She never really stopped to think about it. It had always just...Been there."Do you think there's even anything at the top? Locals always talk about climbing it but nobody ever does. I love a good mystery though...Maybe I should give it a shot!"Ayami chuckled, giving Atsuko a playful pat on the back. The knight wasn't exactly pleased about the comparison between herself and robin hood. But the elfen didn't exactly seem to catch on..."Yeah but he used swords I think!"The elfen inventor whistles as the albino saiyan admits to being the type to camp outside away from any kind of home or structure."A real rough camper huh? I can see why you're wanting to get that hole in the ground fixed up. It's missing a few comforts to be honest."She listened to the saiyan knight's life story that was being told here. It was a lot to take in, but it made sense in it's own way. The rumors were something Ayami had picked up on too. Although rumors never really interested her quite as much. Still...A hand print in a cave? It lined up with that place."Seems to me like someone wanted you to find it."And so they had arrived at the first mountain which matched the criteria they were looking for. Atsuko suggested simply looking and hoping for results, but the elfen inventor raised a hand, stopping her."Hold on, there's a science to this."Ayami stuck her finger in her mouth for a second and then raised it to the sky, checking for the wind."Wind speed...4 miles per hour...Direction uh...Northwest?"The young inventor lowered her goggles and used their zoom function, looking around at the treeline. There were a lot of trees, and she could see the faint traces of poplar trees within the line. She raised a hand and motioned for the saiyan knight to follow her as she walked into the thick brush, clearly knowing where she was going even if she hadn't made it particularly clear. Atsuko

Ayami pointed out that it just takes a little bit of experimentation in order to pull off what she did. Atsuko gives an understanding nod at this; it made a lot of sense. Martial Arts and Ki Control were basically the same way, you just had to find out what worked. Once you knew that, the results were generally reproduceable. But that never exactly stopped one from finding new ways to work with those abilities.
The Elfen then talks about her credentials when it comes to scouting. Once again it makes a lot of sense! If you have field survival training and a scientific mind, then you'd be pretty good at spotting the finer details that an untrained eye might not spot. The two were highly specialized in different paths. Ironically, she thinks that might make them work together quite well. " It sounds as though you've found a real passion at Capsule Corporation, Ayami." The conversation turns to the tower, and Ayami expresses her interest in trying to climb it. Atsuko smiles at that because she shared the same intrigue. " Well, I intend to climb it pretty soon myself. Only way to find out what's actually up there, right?" , she replies. Honestly, this was probably the first time it was just the two of them on their own with the chance to bond a little. It was proving pretty nice.
Even when the topic at hand proved a bit nonsensical. Robin Hood using swords? " I suppose there were moments where he might have... But the bow was his main weapon, was it not?" Despite this, things loop back around to Atsuko's own experience in the field, and the base she ended up finding in the cave. " Yeah, I have my own wilderness survival training. It basically means that I can explore as long as I want. That's why I was able to learn so much about this place." Still. The fact that someone could have wanted her to find that place is an excellent point, and one that the Knight can't exactly ignore. " I think I know who wanted me to find it, too. I did run into her shortly after I got things situated. You remember my mother, Micaela? She used to be a Knight too." The implication was pretty clear, or so Atsuko thought. Perhaps Ayami would draw her own conclusions, but in any case they had freshly arrived at one of the hills in the area. Atsuko was keen to get exploring, but Ayami held the Knight off from doing that just yet, insisting there was a science that could be used here.
The Albino Saiyan plays along with this, and when the Elfen starts gesturing to follow, Atsuko does so. She was impressed, maybe Ayami had already cracked the case? That would certainly speed things along! Ayami

Atsuko brought up how Ayami's passion for her job really showed through. The inventor couldn't agree more with the saiyan's words! She gave hundreds of enthusiastic nods all in the span of a few moments, grinning so brightly she threatened to outshine the sun itself. in a stunning display of joy. Evidently just saying that much was enough to draw in Ayami's attention!"Absolutely!!! It's been my dream job for years now! Now that I'm finally able to work there I've been even happier than ever before!!! You should come visit me there some time! I can show you all the stuff I do at work!"It seemed like such a simple thing to most. Jobs were just something you did, especially when they were ones THIS mundane. But for Ayami it wasn't just a job. It was a chance to make a genuine difference with the skills she had. She was able to make a difference in people's lives by repairing the things important to their day to day business, introducing new and innovative ideas to the corporation, AND being able to reach for the stars and become someone really worth taking notice of! To that end she shares her ultimate goal with the albino knight."One of these days...I'm gonna become the greatest inventor in the universe!!! You won't be able to go a mile without seeing my inventions somewhere helping somebody out! So don't forget me when I make it some day okay?"Ayami chuckled to herself, her ambitions were pretty lofty, but it was clear from her words and the way she made things that it wasn't just all talk. There was a genuine drive and skill to back up such a dream. If she kept growing that skill and reaching higher and higher it wouldn't seem as impossible as it sounded. But on the subject of reaching heights, Atsuko agreed on the interest shared with that tower...And even insisted she was going to climb it soon."Well, if you make it be sure to tell me how you pulled it off. I wouldn't mind finding out what's up there for potential inspiration! But...Don't tell me what you find okay? I wanna earn the right to find out myself!"The Elfen inventor wasn't one to let things be handed to her for free, it was a big part of how she was raised, she felt proud earning things through great effort. In a way she imagined Atsuko was much the same. After all knightly honor was like that too, right?Though...The Robin hood dilemma...The young inventor had only one retort to give."Bows are just swords that you can shoot!"... In many ways she was astonishingly wrong, but in many ways she was technically right. That was cut short by the stories about Micaela though...This woman really did interest the young elfen quite a bit!"Wow...She was a knight too?! Did she wear armor that she never took off just like you? Did her chest fit in there? I imagine that chest plate's pretty tight...I can adjust it if you want! Oh but you gotta let me meet this lady! I wanna know more about her!"As she led Atsuko through the treeline she finally spotted exactly what she was looking for..."Bingo."A cliff face. One that seemed to have the same tell-tale markings as in the photo! She rushed through the brush, trying to hurry along to their destination! Had her deductive reasoning led them to the source they were looking for on the very first try?! OOC Note: Feel free to decide if they find what they're looking for or not! Atsuko

Yeah, that was an undeniable passion for work that Atsuko was witnessing. It seemed like nothing could dampen Ayami's spirits when it came to technology and science. It was kind of refreshing, in a way. The young mechanic might be eccentric, but she was dependable. The Saiyan already knew that she would come up with many ways to help get this all up and running, and probably make it way more efficient to boot. " Ha, I may have to take you up on that offer after I invited you out here." The Knight might not ever have the affinity to figure out technology the way Ayami did, but she could certainly still pick up some useful things, Capsule Corporation would be the best place to start, and having someone that could give her a personal tour of things would be even better. After that, the Elfen made her dream clearly known; and it was a noble one... She wanted her technology to help people.
Atsuko smiled at that. They might have different paths, but they both ultimately wanted the same thing, to help others. It only affirmed to her that she made the right choice in considering Ayami such a close friend. " Deal! Only if you remember me when I make it as a famous Knight." , she replies.
Afterwards, the Elfen makes a request for the Albino Saiyan to not reveal anything about what lay atop the Tower if she climbed it first. To that, the Knight nods. " Aye. That's a reasonable request. If you climb it before me, make sure you let me find out for myself too." , she adds. The two of them were alike in a lot of ways, despite the amount of differences between them.
It was kind of amazing. Both were sheltered, both had a love for fighting, and both of them had a sheer passion and drive to help others. Something about the enthusiasm was infectious for Atsuko, too. Even when something like the Robin Hood dilemma rears it's head again. There... Were a lot of aspects that Atsuko wanted to pick apart in regards to that, but it was one of those things that she could already tell would be a losing battle no matter her approach.
Thankfully, the conversation moved towards Micaela. Just like before, the girl begins shooting out question after question. Also like before, Atsuko manages to actually keep pace with that and answer each question in turn. " Yeah, she was. This is actually her suit of armor, and it actually uses magic to fit itself properly to the wearer. You're welcome to examine it when you like, and..." , she pauses for a moment, looking over to Ayami. " I will take you to meet her. I did promise I'd show you the place I grew up at, after all." But now it was time to focus on their task! Ayami began to identify the exact features from the image they were working off of, and soon leads the way towards it. The moment of truth was coming, did deductive reasoning lead them to what they were looking for? Well, clearing through the treeline and brush leads them to the cliff face, and waiting there was...The very thing they were looking for!" You did it, Ayami!" , the Knight couldn't help but give her praise as soon as she spotted it. They were well on their way to getting through this! Ayami

The young inventor was happy to hear the knight sound so enthusiastic about visiting Capsule Corp's HQ. For all of her love of machinery and that company, it made it all the more sweeter when she could share it with friends. And Atsuko was someone who in recent weeks had become a very good friend. From their first meeting, to the training on Beansprout, to their battle against the fearsome Dom Remi...They had been through a lot together in such a short time. The same could be said for Tomina, too. Despite not knowing each other for years, Ayami felt as though she knew these two sisters for a very long time now. She had seen them both struggle and succeed, she learned about their pasts both great and terrible. And in some cases...She shared some of her own to the both of them. She couldn't help but chuckle playfully once the albino saiyan agreed to remember the water elfen, and then made Ayami promise to remember her too once the saiyan knight became legendary in her own right. The young inventor gave Atsuko a thumbs up and a smile."You've got a deal. Don't think I could forget about you after all we've been through anyway! Same goes for Mina."It seemed too that Ayami's assessment of the albino knight was correct in that she agreed on the grounds that the elfen not tell her what lies above the clouds should this intrepid inventor get there first. They really WERE alike even if their ideas of honor were different. Even their childhoods seemed to not be totally different. They both had mentors who acted as their parents. Micaela sounded so much like the elfen inventor's grandmother to her. So much so that the idea of getting to meet this mysterious woman excited her to no end."Wow! You mean it?! I can meet your mom and get to run some research on that armor?! This is fantastic! I'm gonna learn so much from all of this!"Even more exciting however was that their efforts had been rewarded with paydirt. There it was, the ancient structure which held...A glowing blue flame?!"Yeah...I guess I did! But...Now what?"The tinkerer approached the flame, crouching down and circling it as she pulled her goggles down over her eyes. She began to carefully examine it. Reaching a single finger out and holding it mere inches from the fire, checking to see if it was hot like conventional flame. She then examined the base from where the fire emanated. What was fueling this strange blue fireball? Would something here be able to carry it? For once the elfen inventor was actually at a loss... Atsuko
