Thread PL: 95 Things had already turned more disastrous than Asynia could have possibly fathomed. Vali speaking out against her speech wasn’t entirely unexpected. But at least he had good points and was respectable about it. She was able to adapt to him being there with little to no issues. The hacking of her broadcast, an exiled military group showing up, and an assassin killing a senator were not things she could circumvent. At that point, all she could do was damage control. Asynia had decided to tackle things one step at a time. She would let the authorities handle finding the assassin. Unless the shadow user decided to target her specifically, she didn’t have a reliable way of tracking them down. The exiled military group was a more immediate threat. She was considering her options in regards to dealing with them. She had decided to have the Veorfolnir to help her gather information on significant figures. She also had prepared a speech on the aftermath of the capital attack. Of course, setting up another broadcast took time. She had to get a specific time to broadcast, pay for the timeslot, negotiate with the stations. So she wasn’t able to go on the very next day and apologize. Which fortunately for her, had been a stroke of luck. It had been the silver lining when things had devolved further. She had just managed to set the rights to the next broadcast when a large chunk of the Frieza Force was rounded up. They were put into jail on treason charges. Not only that, but the donations that she had sent to them had either been frozen or mysteriously vanished altogether. Based on the information she had, she knew which faction was behind it. That didn’t make her father any less furious. “I put a significant amount of capital towards this venture. Underestimating the Brenchians was clearly a mistake on all of our parts. But if you can’t fix this, then I shall have to come to Brench personally to handle the matter. It’ll be regrettable if I have to be the one to show the Brenchian people the Light.” Asynia felt a chill run down her spine and through her tail at the tone in her father’s voice. She had never heard her father yell once in her life. He always managed to keep at least a little bit of control, even when her was furious. But that didn’t make his fury any less potent. “I’m assessing the situation right now. I’m confident I’ll be able to turn things around.” “Then I’ll allow my prophet to continue her work. May the light illuminate our path.” "May the light illuminate our path"That conversation had taken place a couple of days ago. It was now 24 hours before she was going to have to give her next speech. She had many parts of it written down. But there were aspects of it she hadn’t finished. Those parts depended on the meeting today. It was early in the morning. The sun had just barely risen. And yet Asynia was in a small conference room of the hotel she was staying at, a 5-star establishment that was the best in the city. Two Veorfolnir in black robes were standing guard outside of the door. She had reserved it just for the meeting that was going to take place within half an hour. Asynia was inside, making the last bit of preparations for it. She had invited Vaneera, the esteemed Captain of the Loyalists to meet with her personally. There was a reason she had invited her, and only her there. It was part of her strategy. Which was malleable and would be shaped by how the talks today went.

[Thread PL: 159] [Suppressed to 5] [Hyperweave Weighted Cowl Equipped - Doubled EXP gains for Transformations and Techniques, -10% effectiveness on Dodges] [Hyperweave Plasteel Uniform - Doubled PL Gains] [Outfit: The Classic] Vaneera hadn't expected an open invitation to come from Asynia Lumis, after everything that had occurred from their previous encounter. But perhaps this was advantageous; it saved her having to try and persuade the Salamander to come to a meeting on her own terms. It did muddle up the attempt to secure a DNA Sample, but... Such a plan could also be on hold for a bit while they discussed whatever it was that Asynia wished to go over, too. Vaneera already had an idea of what that might be, too... Especially considering she was asking for the Captain to come alone.
Yeah, there was no chance in hell of that happening. She was bringing two of her most capable fighters; Motet and Lemine. Blumina and Velvette would stay on the sidelines to monitor things via the usual methods of cracking into the security and keeping tabs on everything that happened -- they wouldn't need to bring it all down this time. But having the controls on hand was pretty useful... If something went down, the tide of the battle would turn very quickly in Vaneera's favor.
Speaking of turning things to her favor, she had also invited Vali along for the express purpose of ensuring several things; one was that she wanted to show that she works WITH the Council. Second was that she wanted an expert on Salamanders. He fit the bill perfectly as a result. He was also quite capable in his own right, and they could also serve as a protection squad for him. All of it would further discourage any acts of violence.
Yeah, Vaneera was arranging all of the pieces for a 'checkmate' type scenario, and she wasn't done yet. But this meeting may well influence how she moves forward... Speaking of which, their method of travel was a specially marked cruiser which would take them to the landing pad of the hotel. Provided Vali was coming along, the four of them would be seated in a lush interior. It was much like a limousine on Earth. All the luxuries such as a stocked mini-fridge for drinks, and the like.
She wasn't drinking at the moment. But Lemine was enjoying a particularly sweet non-alcoholic beverage known as "Honey Smooch" in the meantime. No doubt that Motet was also partaking as well -- as it was named after the Honey that comes from Earth, it was created out of some of the most expensive and therefore high quality ingredients. Unlike Honey, it wasn't thick or gel-like, but a proper liquid. After taking a hearty drink out of her glass, Lemine lets out a satisfied hum and smiles. " Ahh... Gotta say, bein' treated like royalty after all our hard work is pretty nice." Vaneera smirks. " It is one of the advantages of being local celebrities. Knowing how hard you all work is why I don't pull any punches when it comes to the rewards. Treat yourselves, you've earned it." If Vali were present -- and he most likely was -- then she would look over to him. " You're welcome to look around for something to your liking in the fridge. I'm sure there's something that would suit your tastes. Though for the purposes of this meeting, there is no alcohol." The flight would be smooth sailing; no one dared to attack or intervene with an emissary's cruiser. The vehicle soon touches down at the hotel, and the door slides open with a hiss, with a ramp then extending outward allowing everyone inside to step out. Vaneera was the first to do so. Lemine would finish the last of her glass and then follow suit." Gonna be a long day, huh Cap'n?" , the yellow-garbed officer comments.
In response, Vaneera lightly nods her head. " Strong possibility." This hotel was the very finest in the whole Citadel. If not for the fact that Vaneera already had a nice place for herself and her Squad, this would definitely be a top pick for luxury. But she spared little expense in caring for her own. Plus, the better equipped they were, the better they could do their job. But for the purposes of a meeting on neutral ground... You couldn't ask for a lot better on Brench. That was what ran through her head as she began to make her way into the hotel proper, and walk through the halls to the designated room.
Also running through her head was every single thing that had occurred between the day of that mysterious Assassin's attack, and now. A lot went down, they had essentially waged a full-scale war against the Frieza Force and the Veðrfölnir, striking at many of their fronts, rounding up several of their members, and taking the sizable... "Donations" off the table for both groups. The message was simple, and clear cut. She wanted to give them a black eye, remind them who really runs the show on Planet Brench.
But she also wanted to prepare for her enemies. All of this let her secure quite a lot of useful information, and Vali was a key piece as well. Thanks to his efforts, quite a few things about the Veðrfölnir now had light shed upon them. Asynia was still the unknown piece in all of this, though. Little was known about her for the moment, but what Vaneera could find is how strange it is that she seems to be a full-blooded Salamander. It just didn't add up.
No matter how she wracked her mind for answers, Vaneera couldn't come up with one. Either way, she doesn't break stride as she continues towards the conference room. Lady Lemine followed close behind in formation with Motet. Finding out where they needed to be wasn't too hard, considering the two Veðrfölnir in black robes standing guard. They had arrived just about on time, as agreed upon. If unchallenged, Vaneera and the others would enter the meeting room with her taking a seat promptly at the table. If they were stopped, well... Vaneera would play along -- but what happens next would depend upon what they're stopped for. Asynia Vali Motet Oratorio

[Thread PL:130]
[Variable Energy Adjustment Training System Equipped, PL Gains Doubled!]
Personally Motet thought she would have been more than enough for this meeting. They didnt even need the other members, let alone Lemine! She was more than capable of keeping Vani safe all on her own! Plus Lemine kept mistaking the comments that were for her to be hers! But Vaneera insisted on bringing Lemine to. Since she knew best of course Motet relented in the end. Oh well, She knew better than to try anything funny at least. Oh well, she could still show Vani how useful she was! No one would touch her, she was her own personal bodyguard!
Vani had invited Mr Lizard though, he wasnt needed for this ether but he would still be pretty cool to talk to. Besides she knew Vani was just playing a chess game here, it was fun moving pieces around a board. Still Motet was the piece that could sweep all the others, mega checkmate! No other piece needed! Still the main reason was the show they were working witht he council and not trying to blow them up or something, so she supposed that made sense.
She really liked their cruiser, it came with a fridge, a mini kitchen... everything they needed to prepare themselves for a mission. Of course on the way Motet was treating herself to a meal of... well chocolate! Something many would probaly argue was the last thing she needed. But hey, she had already eaten breakfast earlier and she exercised on the regular, she could afford to have some sweetness for herself! Paired with this of course was one of her favorite drinks, Honey Smootch! She tried to get Vani to drink some as well but she insisted on doing so later, so lazer focused on the mission! Ahhh she was just so amazing!
"Its only natural when our leaders Vani! And I as her personal and best bodyguard gets all the choclate I can eat! Besides, she should be, Queen Vaneera has such natural flow to it don't ya think?"
Lemine was coming sure, but the hyper active girl very much considered herself the one true protector of her Van Van! Motet was in fsct doing just what Vaneera suggested treating herself with the drink, the choclaclate.... Now a 'Vaneera Special' smoothie. One of the places they helped protect insisted on naming a project after her, as well as giving them several for the road.
....How on earth was the brenchians stomach still so stable?
"Hehe I love this cruiser~"
When they disembarked Motet made it her point to get up front... slipping right under her yellow clothes comrade in the process. Taking her absolutly rightful place at her Vani's side!
"I bet it will be, were meeting that flashlight lizard! Shes fake, fakes are always hard to handle right, speciully when they think their not fake and are right!"
Motets wording of things was weird, but likely clear to the squad by now, defently to Vaneera herself. She had been able to see Asynia was akin to a puppet, being used by whoever wa spilling her strings, probably a parent to have that much influence. She knew from experience. She was clealr yet into it. But the ones like that were the worst ones you could meet! So blindly devoted they put their all into it, following someone so bad...
She knew from experience.
Following close beside Vaneera into the hotel Motet coudnt help but give a light squee at what they'd done so far. Motet had helped plan strikes against Vani's targets, alongside her and the others of course. Messing up their donation flow, rounding up members... Motet thought dicing them up would teach them a good lesson, but Vaneera insisting just rounding them up had the best result. Well she did know best after all! Vani seemed to find it odd that Asynia was a full blooded salamander since she lit up, but she just had good batteries right? That was how flashlights worked right?
Regardless they would soon reach their destination and if unchallenged Motet would enter right alongside Lemine and Vaneera.
Hey, could she get Asynia to light up for her during the meeting?

[Enhanced Gravity Amulet Equipped. PL gains doubled.] How long had it been? Since the two of them had a completely normal conversation. Years? Vali had stopped counting so long ago. Asynia was someone that even now he considered a friend...That was why he couldn't stop thinking about what she said that day in the capital. "If you actively try to take actions that are detrimental to Veorfolnir, then I will have to see you as an opponent."...He meditated silently in the cab of this vehicle as they shuttled towards the hotel this supposed meeting was set to take place at. When he received the call from Vaneera the last thing he was expecting was an offer to meet with Asynia. Not this soon. He acted indifferent to the offer, not wanting to display his emotions to strangers. But he accepted none the less.
An opportunity to confront that salamander in a place where she didn't have to put on a front? That could be ideal for getting through to her. Though something odd happened as he meditated. A strange aura called out to him, it used a voice that was not audible but could still very clearly be comprehended by him."Son of Ymmir. Hear me and obey."He gazed at the aura that called out from an endless void with curiosity. The energy it gave off didn't feel threatening or dangerous...But he regarded it with distrust."I understand that you cannot comprehend...But you do not need to. You need simply heed my message to you."Though he wanted to call out to this soundless voice and ask questions, the words refused to come out. He could only show understanding at this strange aura's words."Good...I have your attention. You must assist the prophet of the light however possible. Only the young prophet can assist in restoring the light of your home. Perhaps you may ask "Why"? I shall tell you in time...But understand this is not something you can refuse. I am a higher power that you could not possibly comprehend. So listen well young Vali, in order to save Lemuria, the prophet must-"His meditation was broken by words delivered from the Brenchian Captain. The "divine message" he had received was cut off then and there as he opened his eyes and glanced at Vaneera. It seems she was offering him a drink...But he raised a hand to politely refuse. Even if he hadn't just received that strange message which compelled him to act he had no time for drinking when there was work to be done."Thank you, but I must refuse. Even non-alcoholic beverages are...Rather unprofessional when one is on the job."He flinched as Motet shouted out about how Vaneera was a "queen". He shook his head, correcting the young brenchian with a cold, unchanging expression."Brench does not currently have a monarchy, and have not had as such since the era of Emperor Frieza. I do hope you're not planning on creating one...That would complicate my job greatly you know."Strangely his expression actually did change for a very brief moment. When he uttered the name "Emperor Frieza" one could almost swear his mouth lowered into a scowl, as if saying that name brought disgust to him. And it did in fact - Vali despised tyrants more than anything else. Monarchies were to him tyranny no matter what form they took. But it was clear this girl was simply being playful, and so he didn't pursue the topic any further. Although when Motet actually downed a "Vaneera Special" the salamander's eyes shifted into an expression of shock and concern."... You're going to give yourself a stomach ache you know."As the vehicle landed Vali moved to wrap his tail around his waist as he stood up from the seat he had lounged in. He glanced over to Vaneera with a piercing gaze, speaking up before they disembarked."I understand you intend to be a chessmaster...But please be careful, the leader of the Veorfulnir is not someone to be underestimated. Asynia is another matter entirely. Chances are that if you've accomplished something against them, that man already knows about it. Don't count on getting anything past our...negotiation partners. A salamander is shrewd in the matter of speaking."He looked over at the open door and began to disembark before adding one more remark."... Especially when one has made a career of leading people through words."Lyte, the leader of the Veorfulnir. Vali knew him well, having been assigned to be his daughter's bodyguard in the past. Vali knew well enough to know that Lyte was as dangerous as he was disgusting. The salamander diplomat...Feared that cult leader more than anyone else. If Lyte himself were to come here, chances are that none of them would be capable of handling him. Not as they were now. He wished more than anything he could free Asynia from the iron grasp of her father, but it wasn't the right time...Not yet.
He watched Motet with curiosity, seeing the girl race ahead to get by Vaneera's side, and listening to her speak about "Fake flashlight"...Clearly referring to Asynia. Vali shook his head, speaking up."I understand what you're trying to say, but please don't underestimate her. Asynia is quite powerful with her control over light itself. I'm not sure where she got that power from...But you should assume for the time being that she isn't afraid to use it."He trailed behind the others, simply walking at his own pace as he continued to speak."... That means no using your weapons unless we have to defend ourselves."This line was very clearly directed at Motet alone and nobody else. he entered the meeting room alongside the others assuming there was no interference. As he did so his eyes locked with Asynia's own..And he simply gave her a silent nod, saying nothing. Asynia Vaneera Motet Oratorio

The guards didn’t let them in right away. They shifted so that they were blocking the door. One of them reached out and handed a capsule to each person trying to make it into the meeting room. The other one took out a scanning device and ran it up and down everyone’s body.
“Put all electronic devices into a capsule and leave them outside the room. All conversations in diplomatic meetings are delicate matters. As such, any device capable of recording is prohibited during their duration.”
After all of that, the two guards would let them pass. The conference room itself wasn’t that big. The rectangular table took up about half the room. At the end sat Asynia. She was flanked by two more black-cloaked guards. She folded her hands as everyone filed in.
“My apologies for the inconvenience. But with a hacker at large I can’t take any risks. Someone technologically inclined might get access to this meeting otherwise. I’ve left my own devices outside as well. We would have also searched you for weapons, but considering the capabilities of everyone in this meeting, it’s a moot point to take any you may have on you.”
Asynia waited for everyone to sit down and take a seat. Her eyes looked at Motet for a moment, then locked with Vali’s. She didn’t know whether it was a good thing or not that he was here. She really wanted him to be on her side. But that likely wasn’t going to be the case. In the same vein though, he wasn’t necessarily on Vaneera’s side either. Perhaps a neutral party would make things more civil.
“I’ve called this meeting in response to a crisis. Brench is teetering over the edge of a precipice. And the rope to the pulleys I’ve built to drag it back from that are steadily being cut, one by one. Much of our donation money has either been frozen or has disappeared. This has come in coordination with the arrest of Frieza Force members, most of which we sent money to. And this comes off the heels of being hacked during my speech. The person who paid the assassin isn’t behind this, since the death of the senator itself was a clear enough message. And the exiled military force wouldn’t bother with such tactics. By process of elimination, I have identified which organization has been behind these efforts to sabotage our efforts.”
Asynia’s orange eyes turned to fix on Vaneera. She had wrapped her tail around her waist, and her expression didn’t betray her emotions. Her orange eyes bored into Vaneera’s like she was trying to read her. Asynia’s guards also fixed their gaze on Vaneera. Likewise, they were very difficult to read.
“I have yet to acquire hard proof, but I am no fool. I will give you the opportunity to confess to the actions the Loyalists have taken against me and the rest of the Veorfolnir. If you’re honest with me moving forward, then I will return that gesture. I’ll tell you exactly what that money’s intended usage was. You can feign ignorance of your father’s actions if you wish. How things proceed from here is entirely up to you, Captain Vaneera.”

Lemine couldn't help but nod as Motet suggested that 'Queen Vaneera' had a very natural ring to it. " Tell you one thing, a Queen like that is probably something Planet Brench needs. A leader that can get results." Vali then chimed in by pointing out that Planet Brench is no longer a monarchy, and that trying to create one might complicate matters greatly -- if only for his job. Vaneera takes this into consideration and then gives an understanding nod. " There is merit to your line of thinking. A single ruler only has advisers and strategists, only so much influencing that can be done. On the one hand, this is good because it ensures that they are not easily manipulated... The downside is that you can end up with someone like Frieza." Still, seeing Motet pack away all the sweets like they were nothing was a bit of a cause of concern to the Salamander. The Captain chuckles softly. " Don't worry. I've never seen her get sick from it. You'll learn pretty quickly that Motet defies all expectations." The Salamander then expresses his caution to Vaneera, urging her to play things carefully with the Veðrfölnir. Vaneera did actually take this advise into consideration. " Worry not. I am talented in many areas, and diplomacy is one of them." , she replies calmly. " Even if they suspect that something has been done, it would not be wise on their part to take action without solid evidence. They could spark war, and I would be the first one to suggest to the Lemurian Council that I see no need to drag the war out to encompass the rest of the Salamanders, so long as they do not intervene in the conflict. We recognize them as separate entities." Vali also gave another warning in regards to how strong Asynia is. The Brenchian simply smiles at that. " You're dealing with War Heroes, Vali. If she wants a fight, she'll need a lot more than some fanatics in black robes to win it. She would be most unwise to challenge us to battle. It would also be her fault for negotiations falling through in such an event." Vaneera showed that she had a pretty strong understanding of how matters like this played out. Despite her young age, she was shrewd, cunning, and skilled. Looking into her past explained all the reasons why; enrolled into an elite academy at a young age and she excelled in her studies and training. She also had seen more action in war than most soldiers had when they were comparatively older than she was.
That being said, there was one hang-up in the proceedings so far. Namely that Asynia valued privacy and wanted everyone to surrender any device capable of recording the proceedings before they entered the room. One guard requested that such equipment was relinquished while the other used a device to scan for anything that might raise a red flag." Very well." , she would calmly remove her own communications device, and gesture for Lemine and Motet to do the same.
Lady Lemine wastes little time in doing the same thing. Once Vali and Motet were through that particular bit as well, they would be allowed inside -- the only caveat being that the sword sheathed at Vaneera's side would likely set off the device, but that was due to the fact that it was hardly any normal blade too. It was a technological masterpiece. Despite this, the guards seemingly make no efforts to remove it from her person, nor request it.
Vaneera is the first to enter, with her guards close behind, and Vali trailing them as he had been doing for awhile now. The red-haired girl would keep her stride right over to the seat, and as she moves to sit down, she grabs the sheath mainly to keep it out of the way as she gets comfortable -- with one more subtle action on her part. A press of the button on the sheath would then see a hidden recorder activated.
Yeah, Vaneera always liked spy movies. After straightening herself out she would set her gaze upon Asynia, and listen intently as the Prophet begins explaining the circumstances of their meeting. " There is no fault in being cautious. Delicate matters do need to be treated seriously, after all." Lemine didn't take a seat, instead she stood at Vaneera's left. Motet would either take a seat next to Vaneera, or stand at her right. It didn't matter much either way -- The Captain listens intently as Asynia explains her views on Brench's standing and how every single plan that was implemented so far had swiftly crumbled. She had even gone through a process of elimination and suggested that the Loyalists were behind it all.
They were, of course. But it wasn't like Vaneera would simply surrender that knowledge. Nor would she simply deny that it was true. Salamanders were shrewd in the art of speaking, were they? Well, they might find their equal in her. Vaneera simply smiles softly after letting Asynia have her say." If I may posit that there is another possibility?" , she queries, gauging how Asynia might react to this question. Presumably when the Prophet accepts and urges her to go on, the Captain would continue." You've gone through a process of elimination, and it sounds as though you have been quite thorough. However, by your own admission, you have no evidence. Therefore I would point out that it is very much a possibility that the Frieza Force are the ones that cheated you out of the money you gave them." She states. Then holding up a hand to signal that she wasn't finished yet. " Yes. We have arrested many of their members for treason. That much is not in question, and I'm sure you have all the public records on hand." , she readily admits that much, but then continues. " However. They are tried with treason because they align themselves with Lord Frieza." She then begins to elaborate. " Frieza is... Or was one of the most dangerous men in the known Universe. I'm certain that almost everyone has heard the stories. That history was documented so that we might never forget the darkness he wrought upon us all." She then brings her hands together, interlocking her fingers as she rests her hands on the table. " My point being, they are only loyal to Frieza and his ways. They are not the types to make allies, but rather to bring in slaves. Perform well and you may certainly rise through the ranks and be treated better -- but make no mistake, you are still like an object to him. A thing that he owns, and a thing that he can do whatever he pleases with." She pauses for a moment. " ...The people that still follow him think that they should run things the same way. They probably even wish to bring him back somehow... There are not many sane men and women that want that. Naturally, the Council deemed him and his Force to be a threat." So that left the matter of why the Veðrfölnir were cheated.... Which she would address as well. " However, I do not doubt that the Frieza Force had enough manpower to be able to take what they wanted and flee the scene, no longer caring to honor the deal as they had what they wanted. Giving them those assets was dangerous." Vaneera's gaze didn't falter, and her expression could only be best described as a professional poker face. There were no tells to work off of here. Even the conviction behind her words sounded true. " So... My next question is... Did you eliminate that possibility before accusing us?" This was a carefully selected batch of words. Because it wasn't a denial, but neither was it a confession... Asynia might be in for more than she bargained for now. Asynia Motet Oratorio Vali Notes: Activated a hidden recorder on her sheath (Thanks, Blumina)
